Sewing Tuesday
Good morning sistas,
To quote Robert Burns, “The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.” That was my day yesterday. I didn't get to sew a single stitch! But I'm going to start sewing this morning. I won't get to make a whole day of it, since I have a mammogram at 3 p.m., but I can make a good start.
Then tomorrow is Early Release Day at Benny's school, so I'll be picking him up at noon. Another day of non-sewing, I imagine. They do pile up.
Will someone please explain to me why the yard guys feel it is necessary to screw up every single water sprinkler I have in place??? They don't just move them out of the way when they're mowing. They CHANGE the damn settings entirely. I mean, they have to make an effort to do that! I got all wet this morning hopping around trying to get all the directional sprays going back in the right areas. Grrrr.
My daughter Carrie is getting so excited about her baby. She's pinning stuff left and right. And everything she pins is for a girl. I asked her last night how she is going to feel if we find out next week that Pita is a boy??? She says she'll be fine with it. But then she immediately said that Pita is a girl. Ohhh, boy. Gonna be interesting next week!
So for our sleepless sistas: last night I tried a different herbal sleepy tea. It is a blend of passion flower and chamomile. I drank a cup of it at bedtime and took two tylenol pms, and I slept! I know I woke up at least once, but I really don't remember it very clearly, so it wasn't my usual, "Oh, Lord, now I'm awake" type of moment. Y'all might try it.
Well, sewing awaits! Today I'm working on the second kitchen valance with the cute bead fringe. This one will be about 7 feet long! BIG windows in this house.
Love you all!
Good morning Vickie, Kathy and OFF-
A double post this morning so I'll post on Vickie's thread because it appears to be the earlier of the two.
So today will be the vomit trip to town with the cat for his shots. He's a good traveler but the first leg of any journey is vomiting. I have the cleaner and paper towels in the car.
I have to swing by the regional hospital and pick up a CD of all my mammograms to take to Texas with me. It's too early for a mammogram as insurance won't pay if it's under a year. Fortunately, the hospital is making me a CD which I can take with me and schedule my mammogram in Anahuac when I land. Also due for the dreaded colonoscopy this year. I'll wait for Texas for that as well.
Kathy good luck with getting organized for your surgery. Make sure that you pick up some chapstick and everyone complains about chapped lips after surgery. Hope Jim's visit to the urologist is without major issues. Not an expert but sounds like a prostate problem to me.
Eileen I certainly am amazed that you drove yourself to ER. I did the same thing 10 years ago after falling backwards off the porch and splitting my head on the chimney. Needed stitches and I did have a concussion. I hope that the finger isn't broken as that's going to make work a bit strange.
Connie I hope that maybe your family can find you a similar location in St. Paul that isn't ground floor. I would not want to live on the ground floor after your experience.
Vickie good luck with the sewing today. I agree with Kathy that you need to set limits on me time. I hope that Carrie isn't disappointed next week when sex is determined.
Ok ladies time for me to assemble another box and pack the porch cushions. I'm going to haul in a load of firewood for another fire tonight. Figure I'll annoy my back one more time today before the chiropracter.
Hugs and thoughts going out to all of you. I think our newbies is having her surgery today. Thoughts going out to her.

Hello Cindi....I hope the cat didn't get sick too many times on the way to his veterinarian appointment. Poor baby!
I just got a call today to set up my colonoscopy appointment for next month. My mammogram and yearly physical are in early November. Really I don't mind having any of it done. It is the prep before that is so nasty!! Good luck with yours!!
I am so jealous...you getting firewood!! We always had fireplaces in our homes...I miss them. Watching the flames is so relaxing!! There is a gas fireplace in our main lounge. I have gone down there a few times. We have to be dressed whenever we leave our apartments. I like to be in a comfy robe!!
Enjoy the fire...love you...hugs...connie d
Cindi B,
Hope you and the cat survived the trip into town for shots. I hate cleaning up vomit! Especially in the car. My ex was a seasoned drinker and pro at leaving throw-up everywhere. Maybe that's my aversion!
I have to do my mammogram & colonoscopy next year. They don't bother me, but as a cancer survivor I am always nervous...
I didn't care for the urologist Jim saw today. He walked in and read over his complaint of the ongoing, severe lower back pain every morning for over 6 months and said it was arthritis!!! Jim's dad & uncles died from prostrate cancer & even when I brought that up he poo pooed it. He did give him Flomax to help with the weakened flow, but that was it!
You must be wonder woman hauling in firewood! I don't think I've done that in over 10 years. I guess being married has spoiled me as I did everything during the 10 years I was a single parent.
Enjoy the last of the packing!
Kathy
Good Morning Vickie and OFF,
Vickie, sorry the sewing, and yardwork didn't go well yesterday. Hope today is better.
Cindi, I am not surprised Eileen drove herself to the ER. When I broke my foot three years ago, I drove myself. And it was my right foot. I did the same when I had the pulmonary embolism, and when I had a horrific wound on my left leg, and my pain level was 20 on a scale of 1-10. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I hated bothering my family to take me, so I did it myself.
I just got home from getting a shot in my back. Since I have to go off the Coumadin for both the tooth extractions and the shot, and I have to give myself shots when I do, it's easier to schedule these things back to back. I am grateful that the teeth don't hurt, and the back shot takes less than ten minutes. So, I'm really not in much pain today.
I have so much to do, including working on my curriculum for the children's program, which starts tomorrow night.
I hope everyone has a blessed day.
Love and hugs,
Trish

Hello Trish....I hope the shot helps your back. Good idea doubling up while you have to be off your Coumadin for both!!
I guess you better get the curriculum done tonight....cutting it close!! Although, you could manage it just from your head!!
You and Eileen, you crazy ladies driving yourselves in those conditions. There must have been a neighbor or friend to call. What if you would have passed out and killed yourself or someone else. Just knowing that would have stopped me from driving. SILLY LADIES!!
Have a good evening...love you....hugs....connie d
Hey Trish!
I am 'taking a note' from Connie & commenting on each post since Vickie & I were writing at the same time and there is not much 'traffic' here today...
Like Connie said...I can't believe you and Eileen driving yourselves for serious medical emergencies! I used to feel so bad for my homeless clients who had no family or friends to take them and they had to go thru those type experiences alone! You all deserve a friend or family member to hold your hand at least thru a crisis!
Geez...smh!
Glad you are not in too much pain today. I have to go off my coumidin next month for the surgery. Somehow I was never told to do the shots while off of it for my recent EGD, colonoscopy last year, and a few other procedures I can't recall now. Thank God they got it together this time!
I would think you would enjoy working on the children's curriculum and it would be a piece of cake given your teaching background! Enjoy!
Kathy
Quiet day today. A bit depressing - working on getting back room in order, and came across letters Jim had written years ago...brought up a lot of mixed emotions.
Still doing good foodwise, so that makes me feel good. And my brother sent me some Sunflowers via UPS - that was a nice surprise!
Just got a phone call to remind me of my dental appointment tomorrow. U.G.H.!!
Hope everyone's feeling well today.
Mary
Hello our dear Mary....I am sad that you are feeling depressed. It is natural at this time in your mourning. I am sure you will be running across man other things of Jim's along the way. I am sending bunches of hugs ((((MARY))))!!!! I wish I had a wand and could make things all better for you.
It sounds like you have a wonderful brother. He knew how to cheer you up at just the right time! Good for you!!
I got a message to call my clinic to set up my colonoscopy. My mammogram and physical are coming up soon. UGH!!
Try to do something just for you this evening. Watch a movie, or soak your feet and then polish your nails, or take a bath or shower and lather yourself in pretty lotion. Whatever will make you feel good!!
Love you my friend...prayers...love...more hugs...connie d
