Cowboy up Monday

Good morning sistas,

In case you're not from Texas, "cowboy up" means to face up to a challenge and do it!  Well, I'm trying to cowboy up this morning and do those damn taxes.  I had to dig through a couple of boxes, but I finally found all my tax statements and forms.  Now I need to sort through them, compose a letter to the CPA and get them sent off.  I HATE DOING THIS!  I keep running across little things that were personal to Butch and then I hurt and I cry.  But I have an Oct 15th deadline--that is the CPA has the deadline--and I need to get this stuff to him "toot sweet".

I would much rather be sewing this morning.  But I know I will feel a huge relief to get this tax mess behind me.

There must be some kind of tournament going on at the golf course.  There was a veritable parade of golf carts going by my back yard at 7:30 a.m.  I'm ready to get my flowerbeds built and my shrubs and trees planted.  I do need a bit of privacy, although I enjoy watching the activities on the golf course, too.

I finally talked to my lawn guy about the price on his initial bid.  I dropped off the sprinkler system.  Just can't afford it right now.  Maybe later.  Then we negotiated on the price of building the raised beds.  I altered my original plans a bit and then we agreed that if I pay cash, we can drop the sales tax, too.  It's getting closer to what I can afford.  I'm on the schedule for mid-October, which is later than I wanted, but will still be okay for fall plantings.

Well, I must sit down and finish this damn tax stuff.  I really can't afford to put it off any longer.  Christine--good to have you back, hon!  You were missed.

Love you all!

Good morning Vickie and OFF-

Vickie so proud of you for "putting your big girl panties on" and getting those taxes done.  I know you hate the grieving process that arises when you find mementos of Butch as you're going through papers.

The curtains turned out terrific.  I love the beading on the kitchen curtains.  Happy that you are able to work with the lawn guy on modifying your landscape plan.  Late October is probably best time to plant to avoid heat stress on the transplanted trees and shrubs.

Deliciously cool and sunny here in Maine today.  Just packed up the garden art and gas grill.  Just have about two - three more boxes and then the rest is for the movers.  My back is telling me it's time to quit.  Thankfully I have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow.  My back is twinging and so are my hands.  I think the hand pain is from the crocheting I am doing.  I need to take a picture of the popcorn squares I'm doing so you all can see how small the stitches are.  Usually takes a day to do a square.  Haven't decided whether I want to have just the front of the pillow sham crocheted or front and back.  We'll see.

So tomorrow Sylvester gets to go to town with me to get his shots.  I'll get my back adjusted and then come home.   Friday I'm supposed to go to the Common Ground Fair with a friend.  Not sure whether I will go as my knee is bothering me and I'm afraid that I'll spend the whole time thinking "what the hell have I done".  The Common Ground Fair is the Maine organic farmers and growers showcase.  I saw it featured by Charles Karault (sp) years ago and said that I would go to it one day.  I've gone almost every year since I moved to Maine.

Well back to the packing for me.  Thoughts and hugs going out to all of you.

Connie-  I'm happy to be at the end too.  My back and knee are not happy.  Haven't heard anything about the cabins.  I did talk to the realtor last week.  He asked that I not have the cabins winterized until the end of October.  The one couple from NJ want to see it again.

Glad you had a good visit with the family over the weekend.  I'm glad they moved the furniture for you.  Send them my way.

Hey Cindi, I think you are a member of the "bgp" (Big Girl Panties) club, too!  Fantastic on powering through the boxes.  It's so damn hard to make yourself do that.  Good on ya, sista!

Good morning Vickie....I too am glad you decided to do your taxes. Soon they can be off to the CPA and out of your hands!! I am sad for you as you have had a few more really sad days. I can imagine that Butch is still in many places in your home. I would be crying under the same cir****tances.

I absolutely love all you have done in your home and patio. You really do a professional job!! I can't wait to see the placemats and chair covers!!

I love the pic that was posted of Benny and Budder. They are just so darn cute together!! When is Pita due again...my thinking/memory is a mess!!

As for me.... Yesterday was wonderful with Carrie, Amanda and Tyler. They had our meals all planned. They did all the cooking and cleanup. I kept trying to help but they wouldn't let me. Then they decided my living room needed to be completely changed around. I was only allowed to sit in my glider rocker. They did the moving because they wanted to make it easier for me to get around with my walker. The problem always was my China Hutch was put against the wrong wall. Those three actually MOVED it across the room. They didn't want to take everything out. It is actually two pieces. I was so afraid they would break a glass door or one of the glass shelves. They went very slowly and did a great job! I was impressed!

My new TV is all set up and the other TV is now in my bedroom. Tonight will be movie night!! Tyler made sure everything was hooked up before he would leave.

I had such a great time, we all did!! They said next time they will come on Saturday so the can spend the night.

A friend of mine found a really nice place in St Paul that I could move into in November when my lease is up. I am hesitating because it is all on the ground floor. You remember my issue with that, I was raped with two guys coming in a window in my home. Carrie said it is really nice, but she too doesn't think I can handle it. I will think about it a couple more day and decide for sure. I real feel secure where I am and I am on the second floor.

I called a thrift shop this morning. I am donating a TV stand, a office chair, some purses, a few clothes and misc. things. Little by little things will be going. I like to donate to this particular place because the money they make goes to Birthline. An agency that provides money and services for unwed mothers and new babies with no place to live. Plus, they come and pick things up free of charge. They know me now and said they didn't even need my information anymore. They know where I live...LOL. They are always so friendly and kind.

I have gone on enough!! I did read all the posts from yesterday. I was just to tired to answer last night. I love you all!!

Prayers for our loving OFF Family and their families. Some special prayer for those that have requested.

Have a beautiful day!!!! I wish I was sitting on Vickie's patio enjoying the day and watching the golfers. I used to golf and still love the game. I haven't been able to play in years.

I love you my sweet Vickie and am sending extra prayers for you. I would love to reach out and give you a huge hug!!!

Much love and more gentle hugs....connie d

Connie, I can "hear" a big difference in your voice tonight.  Having your kiddos come visit was just what you needed.  Now is St. Paul closer to some of your family?  If so, it might be worth the move.  Otherwise, I would really think hard about it.  The last move nearly wiped you out!  And I really don't think you should try to live on the first floor anywhere, sweetie.  You have enough problems with flashbacks as it is.  I think living on the first floor would just set you so far back.  Please think about this.  It just seems like too much for you to subject yourself to.

Love you!

Connie,

I agree with Vic.  Moving is so hard for you and then being on the first floor...think about it.

Hi Jeannie....I know I just can't take a chance on trying to rent a ground level apartment. I am sick just thinking about it.

My thanks for caring...I love you....hugs...connie d
