Sleepless in my car in a rest area in Elkin North Carolina!!!

Hello sistas,

I'm having a sad day.  Didn't sleep well (no news there), and woke up sad and crying this morning.  Sunday mornings were always "our" time for years and years.  Throughout his career overseas, Butch and I were apart more than we were together.  Because I was working full time also, we basically had 3 weekends together every two months.  Sunday mornings were very special to us.

So, it seems the conditioning of 20+ years is hard to forget.  I woke up missing my husband and crying this morning.  Sigh.  I just can't seem to accept that he is really gone.  When it hits me, I fall apart.

I sent Chris a text and told her I need to be alone today.  I don't want any surprise visits today.

Anyway, I finally roused myself enough to put dinner in the crockpot and to start sewing again.  Today I am working on the valances in the kitchen dining area.  I am doing these more "fancy" than the plain valances I made for the living room.  These are scalloped and I bought a beee-u-tiful beaded fringe to edge them!  Oh, it's so pretty.  It was super expensive, but I had a 60% off coupon for a single cut of material at JoAnns.  So I bought 9 1/2 yards, and I hope it is enough!  According to the yardage on the package, I should only need 9 yards, but it's going to be close.

I also worked out a place mat pattern yesterday afternoon.  Not that hard, but I like it.  I had to order a pair of curtains in the windowpane check pattern in order to get the fabric I wanted.  But I picked out the hems yesterday and it was quite enough fabric to make the place mats.  I need to pick up a can of scotch guard to treat them before actually using them on the table.

After I finish the valances and the place mats, I want to make slipcovers for the seats of my kitchen chairs.  Now THAT will be a challenge.  Never done anything like that before.

Well, I'd better get back to my sewing.  It's taking me a long time to put this first valance together.  Probably my sad disposition and lack of sleep is contributing to my pokey progress today.  At least I haven't had to rip out any seams.

Just have to say to Carla, honey, I am WORRIED about you traveling alone and sleeping overnight in a rest area!!!  PLEASE don't do that again.  Lord above, that's very risky in these crime-ridden days.  I hope you will make reservations at a dog friendly hotel for your trip home in a few weeks.

Love you all, sweet sistas!

Sending you so much love, Vickie. To paraphrase Lennon and McCartney - a love like yours and Butch's will never die.  I just hope that, over time, you'll cry less and hurt a little less.

Oh Thankyou sweet Vickie! My husband is with me! I never stay in a rest area by myself.

So sorry you're feeling sad today, Vickie. Sometimes you need to be alone and feel your feelings. The only person I have ever been that close to was my friend Margie, and when she died, I wasn't able to say goodbye because she lived in South Dakota and I was in Michigan and couldn't afford to go to the funeral. I think I grieved for a long time by myself. I know now I think of her in good ways and feel her presence in my life. We spent more times talking on the phone than face to face. I can remember her laugh and her smile.

I know this is nothing like a husband, a soulmate. You need your time to grieve how you need to grieve.

Greetings Carla and OFF,

I have had a busy day.  First, I had church, and took care of a darling one year old cousin of my Munchkins.  She is cutting a molar, and Mom told me to give her some Tylenol, which seemed to calm her down.  She snuggled on my shoulder for an hour.  Then, I got to know a woman I didn't know before.  I love getting to know my church family.  Then, Lincoln had a flag football game, and he scored a touchdown.  He can run extremely fast.

Now, my Eagles just started playing against the Cowboys.

Tonight, I'll watch the Emmys.

Hugs,

Trish

Almost forgot, pictures.

Lincoln with his teammate, Tiger.  Lincoln is on the right.

Colleen and Trent have a pumpkin business with some friends.  Both families plant them in the Spring, and harvest in September.  Then, Trent sets up two stands, one in their front yard, and one at another friend's house on Main Street.  They had a bumper crop this year.  If anyone is in Michigan before Halloween, come to Perry, and either stay on 52, just south of town, or if you coming from Owosso, or Lansing, get off 69 at Perry, make a right, and then another right at the Rite Aid.  Colleen's house can't be missed, not far from Rite Aid.  Great prices.

Love yas.

OK need to rant here again...one of the tenants is having a BBQ party today...forgot all about it til AFTER Rick started smoking OUR supper...well since ours was already cooking and was just about done we said oh well and stayed home. She has a lot of people coming and we won't be missed. So few minutes ago here comes one of the tenants...now what? Well can  they borrow one of the tables and some chairs out of the club house? Umm No...not RENTING now are we?? I am NOT going to start this can of worms...OH NO!!!!!! Sorry can't do that. He stormed off...now don't you think out of all these tenants that live right there would HAVE some sort of a table and their OWN chair to bring to sit on?????? WTH????? I start letting the club house chairs go out and then what happens...they will not come back!!!!!!! Nope NOT doing it!!!!!! So I am sure I am going to be the topic of conversation at this party!!!!!!

Was I in the wrong?????

No, sweetie, you were absolutely right not to lend out those chairs.  That way lies madness--and you already work in the Funny Farm!
