Hello, This Is Sleepless In Oregon
Hello my sleepless OFF sistas:
I did not have problems sleeping last night; I just got up at 9, which was too early for me. I did have 7 hours of sleep, however. I was glad I was able to catch my brother before he went out and wish him a happy birthday ... he turns 63 today. He went to Denny's to get his free breakfast and then was going to Kunstfest, a German festival in a town nearby called New Harmony. I would love to go, but alas, I have to work.
My problem isn't sleeping, it's staying awake. I have the drowsies at work again. I hope the hour nap I took will keep them at bay.
Cindy, hope the bison burgers help your dog. My No. 1 brother, Ed, eats bison instead of beef and swears by it.
Vickie, your curtains are very nice. Hope the grant writing gig works out for you. You get very excited talking about sewing so it's something you should continue doing. I did it when I was in high school but can't remember any of it.
I'm at work and about to get started on the Sunday sports pages. Hopefully, I can stay awake. I have a vente iced coffee (made at home), two Diet Cokes with Lime. If it gets bad, I have some dark chocolate Hershey kisses in my bag too. I don't know if I'm having low sugar episodes or what. But I can't keep my eyes open.
Have a good day.
Hello Eileen....I must go to sleep about the same time you do, when I can sleep!! I still sleep 8 hours on a good night! My changing when I take that med is seeming to help with my sleep. I hope it continues!! I hope too that you start feeling more restful and less sleepy all the time!
Happy Birthday to Gary!! It sounds like he keeps pretty busy. Good for him!!
How many more years until you can retire? I feel bad that you have to work with so much pain.
Have a good evening...love you...hugs....connie d
Eileen, I wish you had the day off so you could have gone with Gary to the German festival in New Harmony. Your iced coffee sounds good. How do you make it? We have a Keurig and I can't figure out how to get the coffee strong enough. Maybe make a couple pods of small portioned coffee? Is that what you do?
I've heard that bison is good but, I admit, after boiling them for our dog for the last month or more -- they don't appeal to me. I bet they would if they were cooked on a grill. The ones I buy are frozen patties.

Cindy, I just make my iced coffee in my Mr. Coffee. I use 5 scoops instead of 3 for an 8-cup pot. The trick is to make it stronger than you normally would. Then I put it in my pitcher and throw in the ice. Now that I have an icemaker, it's a little nicer. I used to throw a whole tray full of cubes in there.
One of the first meats I had after surgery was grilled bison burgers from my brother Ed. They were excellent. I only had half of one. I've since tried bison steaks on the grill. Haven't done them for away. They are drier than beef steaks, so you don't want to overcook them and you need to marinate them.
Eileen, for some reason, I thought you used a Keurig. I have a Keurig and I think I can set it to make stronger coffee. I'll have to try that.
I had noted that the directions on the bison burger bag says not to overcook it or it will be tough. I boil them for 5 minutes once the water comes to a boil. Our dog loves them. Of course, I'm sure it beats the flavor of his old dog food.

I have both, actually. I have made iced coffee in the Keurig but didn't like it. I like making it in my Mr. Coffee better. I found this handy-dandy little thing through Amazon that you can put your own coffee in so you don't have to buy the pods. http://www.amazon.com/EZ-Cup-Keurig-Machines-Perfect-Pod/dp/B002YPC2NM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442789159&sr=8-1&keywords=ez+cup
Good afternoon Cindy and everyone.....
Cindy....I am so sorry you got no sleep. What do you do when going to sleep? Don'****ch TV or be on the computer? The lights will keep you awake much longer. Are you using a sleep aid even over the counter or generic is helpful. It is no fun to try to get through the day completely worn out!! I hope you can find something to help....I am at a loss. Someone here told me to drink milk with honey in it.
I read and just have a small bedside lamp on. Sometimes it is just that we have too much going on in our heads. Worries about whatever. I switched that med and I have slept better a couple nights. When my depression is bad my sleep is very interrupted. I just never know what it will be.
Do you have a steamer....couldn't you steam the bison burgers? You could do that even in a pan on the stove. I hope you find something that works. Could you cook up a bunch and freeze it? You wouldn't be doing it all the time.
As for me... I am planning on taking a walk outside. The sun is shining and it is 70 degrees. That is our high for today. Humidity is really low. I must get out and enjoy some of this beautiful day.
My future grandson just called. He is looking at another TV for me. I want a larger one in the living room. The other is only 32 inches. It is a nice TV...the color and everything is great. Plus, I am finding I have to lay down more in my bed now. I want a TV in there again. No...I won'****ch it when I am going to go to bed at night. Anyway they found a good deal at Costco. They will bring it here tomorrow.
I need to get outside now...wishing you all a beautiful day!
Prayers for our awesome OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for those in need.
Lots of love and oodles of hugs....connie d
Connie, when I'm going to sleep, the room is dark and there is no noise unless we have a fan going. Our vet said the bison has to be boiled to get as much fat out of the meat as possible. I thought that if I could adapt a canning recipe for use with a pressure cooker that might work as the water would be boiling. I wish I could steam them because I found several pressure cookers that do that easily. I cook eight patties at a time and that lasts for 2 1/2 days.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of the TV you're getting from Costco. Our LR TV is about to die. It turns itself off and then on again sometimes. I keep thinking that it's going to go belly up at any minute. It's three years old. The one we have in our bedroom is older. Anyway, we've been scoping out TV's but can't decide what to get or where to get it.

Good Afternoon Cindy and OFF Family,
I passed out last night, and slept till 12:15. I was sure I set my alarm. I was supposed to be at my church at 10:00 a.m. I was late to Perry Fest. My church sets up kids' games, a bounce house, a dunk tank, and food, and it's all free to the town, right after the parade. My church is near the end of the parade route. Last night I helped bag tons of cotton candy to hand out. Unfortunately, I did test taste it. The parade was at noon, so I got to the church immediately, just as the crowd was heading from the parade. I worked an information table, and handed out the cotton candy. The food table had hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, ice water and lemonade. The kids got candy and little toys as prizes for the games.
When I got home, I put dinner in the crockpot. It'll be done around 7:00, a little late, but not terribly so. Then, I partially cut the grass out back. It was still damp from the rain we had yesterday, and last night, so the mower kept stalling. So, I packed it in and will finish tomorrow. It's not supposed to rain tonight.
I'm hoping I get a decent night sleep, and get up in time for church.
Love to all.
Trish
