Hello, This Is Sleepless In Oregon

Hi, all.  Well, I tried to go to sleep at 11 p.m.  Tossed and turned and was wide awake so I've been up since.  It's now 2:40 a.m. and I feel as though sleep will not happen tonight.  Big bummer!!

I will boil bison burgers for our dog in a couple of hours from now.  I was able to shorten the cooking time by defrosting the burgers in the microwave and also starting the pot of water to boil with nothing in the pot.  Cut the time from 50 minutes to maybe 20.  I've looked on line for recipes for boiling the burgers in the pressure cooker but haven't come up with anything that looks like it will work.  So, I may be stuck doing it the old fashioned way -- on the stovetop.  Well, I love the little bugger so if that's what I need to do to keep his gut working properly (no diarrhea) that's what I'll do.

I guess I'll go on F/B to see if any of you are awake with me.

More later.

Good morning Mary and Cindy and all my sistas,

So another sleepless night.  SO MANY.  What on earth is wrong with all of us?  I did sleep, but woke up every couple of hours, so I don't feel very rested today.  I'm back to taking Tylenol PMs again.  At least with those pills, when I do wake up, I can usually fall back asleep again.

Yesterday was a really busy day for me.  Had my first meeting about that grant writing project.  I'm interested and excited to learn a new skill.  This little private Christian school needs so many things!  Lots of opportunities to apply for grants for a number of different areas.  My friend Pam is the Director of Marketing, so I'm very comfortable working with her as a newbie.  Unbeknownst to me, she also brought in another lady who does have grant writing experience, so there are three of us working on this project.  I'm okay with that, although it does sort of muddy up the waters as far as payment goes.  I'm still not sure how much I'll get paid, or if this other lady and I will split the amount or what.  BUT, I do know Pam and I know she will be fair about things.  And as I do more research on grant writing as a profession, I realize that I need to do a few "volunteer" projects first to establish my track record before I can begin really charging for my services.  So it's a learning process and if I manage to hit a home run with a few of these grants, it will set me up for future free lance jobs.  It's all good.

I did a bunch of other stuff yesterday while I was in San Antonio, and then I had to come home and pick up the boys and babysit last night.  I pretty much have agreed to babysit every Friday night.  It helps the kids out money-wise, and I enjoy being with the boys.  I just wish I wasn't so exhausted all the time.  C'mon sleep!

Today I am sewing!  I still have one more toile valance to make for my living room curtains, and then I get to move on to the kitchen curtains.  I will post pics when I get the living room curtains hung.

I did go to Wal Mart and I bought that bigger, sturdier ironing board, and it made all the difference in the stability and height for use with my "big board".  I now feel like I have a super strong cutting area and I don't have to stoop over to deal with my fabric.  And it's lovely to be able to iron a 58" wide piece of fabric!  My self-healing mat for my rotary blade cutter works great when I set it on top of the "big board", so I'm looking forward to trying my hand at some baby quilts soon.

Speaking of which, less than two weeks before we hopefully find out if Pita is a girl or a boy.  So excited!  I can't wait to start sewing baby things.

Well, that's all my news for the day.  I'll post pics as I get things finished.  Love you all!

Hello Vickie....you sure did those living room windows up in a hurry!! They look wonderful! You are so talented!!

Good luck with the kitchen curtains. I can't remember what fabric you are using in there. I am sure they will be pretty!!

I think you are going to go far in the grant writing. You will learn quickly as you are a great writer anyway!!

I am happy you did get that bigger ironing board. You will like the stability of the big board. You will use it more if you are comfortable with it. I hope you do start doing some things to sell again.

I think we are all so excited waiting to hear the news of Pita!! I know I sure am!!! That appointment will be here before you know it!! I am with Carrie...I think it is a girl! Hmmmm!!!

Have a good rest of the day...I love you...hugs....connie d
