Friday -- What's New?

Hi, all.  I just got home from picking up glasses so I'm just now checking in on OFF.

Our house still smells like the chili I cooked all day yesterday in the crockpot.  Hubby loved it.  It's been a while since I've made this particular recipe for him -- I almost forgot the tweaks I made in the recipe especially for him (he has a mouth condition that makes his mouth particularly sensitive to hot spices).  Anyway, the chili was a success!

I slept very poorly last night because we were stretched out on our bed with the dog watching a movie (some sci-fi action thriller hubby liked) and I fell asleep.  I really try not to do that as I tend to have sleep issues anyway.  Oh, well.  I probably need to refrain from laying on the bed to watch TV or movies.

Cindi B., I checked out the El-Cid chili recipe you sent me the link for.  It sounds pretty good.  I think I'll try it and just cut way back on the spices.

Hubby is tired this morning and is going to take a nap.  Oh, I wish I could too!

So, anyway, what are you up to today?

Hi Cindy and my OFF family:

Where is everyone? I got up early and went to urgent care; I have an ingrown nail on my middle finger. Unfortunately, the doc there wouldn't remove it ... he just gave me some ointment, an antibiotic and told me to soak it in soapy ho****er. It hurts like hell. I hope this helps because it's not going to heal quickly. Everytime I bru**** against something, it hurts.

It's gray and gloomy out and looks like rain. If it does rain hard with lightning, it may cancel the Friday football games (oh, please!). It would  be so much better. (Can you tell I hate Friday night football in the fall?)

Chili sounds so good. Maybe when we get in the new apartment. But I like my chili with beans. More roughage.

Got a message from a cousin that her nephew died. He was the adopted son of my godfather (who is my cousin Patty's brother and the son of my Aunt Bernice ... my dad's sister). He was just 45. So there's another sympathy card. I don't know what the cause of death was.

Anyway, not much else going on. After urgent care, I went to the drug store and picked up my prescriptions and came home and made lunch. Got to work tonight. Have a good night. Hope sleep is better for all tonight.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Taking a break from cleaning...my daughter never got to it yesterday & I didn't do what I planned as we got to talking. She is upset Jazz's dad has only made one effort to see her when she was little & pays little or no child support to us. We only get it when he is facing court. This led into a discussion about her dad who passed this past January. She has a lot of issues as the result of his addiction, my staying with him in a violent relationship and all the fallout that followed after our divorce. I blame her mental health issues on all she had to suffer through as the oldest of two crazy parents in the 70's.

Anyhow, she had a lot of doubt I was being absolutely truthful with her about events of the past and felt I was not always fair in my portrayal of her dad. This escalated when we took custody of Jasmyn because of things she was going through. She and her dad had been estranged for many years, but during this period she was angry at me and reached out to him. Long story short he filled her head with nonsense, and for years she would bring up things he had said when we weren't getting along. I always attempted to be honest with her during these times, but did not want to rupture our relationship any further by 'badmouthing' her dad. Anyhow, yesterday during our discussion she said she wanted to see the court paperwork I had told her I had to support my version of events. We went thru them together. Needless to say it was probably one of the most important times I have ever spent with her. It was a very healing experience. Needless to say I didn't think cleaning was important.

So I am cleaning today! I don't think she would mind cleaning anywhere...she enjoys it! And she would just love traveling to anyone's home to clean, too, LOL!

I read everyone's posts yesterday, and for whatever reason it just gave me an uplifting feeling! It was like everyone was in sync enjoying each other's company. It made me feel good!

Jen, you don't get on much so I don't know you as well. I do recall you mentioning having cancer before, but I don't remember what kind or when you had it. I also had cancer and could relate to how you described feeling when it was time for your check-ups. It is good to hear you are doing well. I am out 2 1/2 years!

I need to get back to work so I will sign off.

Good afternoon Cindy and everyone....I just got here a little while ago myself.

Chili really sounds great right now...I should make some...yum!!

My doctor told me long ago not to have a TV in my bedroom. It is too bright and with all the activity going on, your body can't get in REM sleep. We need that REM sleep. I am getting a new and larger TV for my living room and will put this one in my bedroom. Only to watch during the day when I am in too much pain to lay on the couch. I have too many days like that lately. I rest better on my wonderful comfy bed. So many of with sleep issues...it is weird!

I hope your new glasses work well for you and that you really like them too.

AS FOR ME...I am doing okay. Yesterday was horrible. I did too much and I suffered for it. Today my muscles and joints are so sore. This is really getting me down. All I want to do is have some fun in my life.

Tomorrow Kyleigh and Mitch are coming to visit. I decided to just make a couple pork tenderloins. I can put them in the crock pot...nice and easy meal with veggies and such.

Kyleigh and Mitch aren't staying the night this time as they have other plans on Sunday. That is fine. I will send them home with leftovers. I spoke with Amanda last night. They may show up tomorrow too but they will spend the night. She will let me know later today. I have plenty of pork tenderloins in my freezer!!

I might work on a puzzle or color later if I can. I am going for now. I haven't even read the morning paper yet today.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!!! I love everyone of you!!!

Prayers for our beautiful OFF Family and their families. Special prayer for others that need them. Judy's sister and mom, Vickie and her family, Mary as she is struggling today and some others. My mind is blank...CRS...it is getting worse!!

Bushels of love and bunches of hugs to all....connie d

So sorry you are in pain all the time. I don't know if I could deal with constant pain. But we don't have a choice in what we deal with in life.  Bless your heart. Feel better.

Hi cindi and everyone,

Time is passing me by!! I've been down for the count with a migraine headache. It was two days of sleep!!! I'm feeling better today.

Getting things ready to leave next Saturday. We might be gone a month. If it is over a month, I'll send Carl home by plane. I can't take advantage of my friend taking care of my house and cat.

It very hot here. In the 90's. So I've been staying in the house.

Have a wonderful trip, Carla. Yup it's hot here too in Port St. Lucie. I like it here because it is not as hectic as the Tampa Bay Area. Hope where you are going has cooler weather.
