New to OH. Surgery scheduled for 9/21. Excited but a little nervous. This is all gonna be new to me. I am a little scared the surgeon may not be able to go through with the gastric sleeve because I had some kind of a stupid stomach stapling done in the 80's. My surgeon doesn't even know what was actually done. He does know it was basically worthless. He has told me that he does think he can do the sleeve. May have to do the gastric bypass. Either will be ok with me. I just fear he will not be able to proceed with either. This has been a long time coming. Sure hope it goes well. So glad to have found this site. 9/21 is just around the corner;  Have you started your pre-op liquid diet yet?  Or are you one of the lucky ones who just has to do all liquids a day or two before your surgery?

I'm sure you will be successful whichever surgery you end up having!  WLS has come a long way since the the '80s when you had your original surgery.  Just keep reading the Boards here at OH - you will get loads of information and support, especially on this particular forum.  We will all be praying for you.

Hi There,

You struck a cord with your post. The same thing happened to me. I had a stapling in like 1985. It failed. I had a revision surgery in 2002 to RNY. I have maintained a 150 lbs weight loss going on 14 years in February. 

Your surgery will take longer to do but it will be worth it.

Thanks for the encouragement. My biggest fear is the Dr not being able to proceed and having to pull out.  I am a believer in God's ultimate plan and try to believe maybe it would not be right if it doesn't happen, but it still would be discouraging after all I have done so far to get here. I had my RNY done back in Oct of 2006 and my only regret was I didn't have it done sooner!!!!
