SUNDAY....west coast edition

Cindy-

I've spent the last four years wintering in the area where I bought the house.  I volunteered at a National Wildlife Refuge in the area.  I'm not working too hard, I'm mostly having panic attacks about the move and sitting in my chair.  I did mow the lawn today and kill a frog or rather it did'nt move fast enough to get away from the mower.

I'm moving to Anahuac, Texas.  It's claim to fame is that it's the Alligator Capital of Texas.  Next weekend they will be having their annual Gatorfest.  I enjoy the area because it's close to Houston and Beaumont but an area of ranches and rice farms.  Country with city life close by.  I've made many friends there the last four years another reason for moving there.  Maine is nice and I enjoy the view but my neighbors are not fun at all.

I've got some apple ale.  I think I'll have one of those.

Good Morning Everyone!

Julia, I am glad to hear you have 'turned the corner' and are beginning to feel better! It gives you hope this will soon be behind you. I don't think anyone enjoys feeling sick. Enjoy your movie if you get out!

Cindy P., I always am impatient to get my house back in order after some kind of remodeling job has been done. First, I can't stand the upheaval and second I want to enjoy the new job! Too bad your husband may not feel up to sitting out on that beautiful deck tonite enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine!

Judy...oh Judy! LOL! Our comic relief! I read your post about the tenant calling you for a non-emergency and had to SMH...mostly in relief that I retired & escaped that drama. It reminded me of staff calling me while on vacation to tell me we were out of green beans for the residents dinner so what should they do? We had a whole freaking pantry stuffed with vegtables...PICK ONE! But...staff would not call when they had contacted police about a fight that went on in the shelter. My sister was pointing out the other day she thought I looked so less stressed since I quit working and I agree! Ppl can literally drive you crazy!

Cindi B. thank you for the compliment. I feel very useless and inadequate now scraping the bottom of the barrel. I know logically I need to do it, but emotionally I feel bad that we are struggling so hard. But another couple months and we should be good to go. I won't get a pension...all my jobs were 401k's, and I drew out of it a few times over the years & do not want that tax burden again if I can avoid it. I'll be 59 1/2 next August. Then will need to wait until 62 for Soc Sec & the tax break on our house taxes & we should be doing pretty good. It's just been this past 1 1/2 that has been this bad, and of course Jazz is starting the teenage years where socializing is a big deal & costly.

We'll both get there, huh?

We are going to a cook-out for my mother-in-law's b-day at 3pm today. She turns 78 & is in fine shape. Love her to death. I want to get a swim in before we go after having TWO helpings of General Tso chicken...and yes...WHITE RICE...last night. And hopefully I can avoid the carbs today!

So everyone have a good day.

Kathy

Kathy start teaching yourself to carry low carb alternatives with you to all events, then you're less tempted.  I stopped and see where I am now.  Just suggesting, want you to be a success.

Hello Kathy...our ray of sunshine!!!

You are right...people can drive you crazy!! I couldn't do the job Judy does. It is horrible how they show such disrespect to her. For all she does for them they should care more.

I can't work and I always felt bad about that. I didn't want any of the diseases I have. I was looking forward to some new adventures. I worked hard all my life and looked so forward to the "golden years". Jokes on me!!

I know things will work out for you and your family. Times are pretty rough for so many people these days. Having a teenager can empty the wallet pretty easy!!! I remember all those proms and parties and this and that. My daughters had so many pretty gowns and dresses. Could they switch and share these clothes with each other...oh hell no!! School activities weren't cheap even back then. There was always something going on!!

Enjoy the party and tell your mom Happy Birthday!!

Love you much...hugs...connie d

Kathy:  Hope you had a good time at the cook-out this afternoon.  Did you get a swim in?

I've never had General Tso Chicken.  Is it spicy?

Good Afternoon Julia,

Glad you started feeling a bit better.  Let us know what movie.  I'm always interested in good movies.

I got home from church about an hour ago, and I'm getting ready to fire up the grill, and make some burgers.  I got some corn from the farm stand, and will make a couple ears today.  The rest are to take to Colleen's tomorrow, as she invited me over for lunch tomorrow.  I also got a watermelon, and plan to clean it up, and take that too.

Today, I have some organizing to do in my room.  I really need to purge my closet.  It's stuffed.

I have Mary, Vickie and Connie in my prayers today.

Hugs

Hello Trish....enjoy your burgers on the grill!! I miss that part of summer too!!

That is really nice of you to share the corn and watermelon with Colleen and her family. I am sure you will have a great time!

Happy purging your closet today!! I always kind of like doing that. The thinks I can come across that I forgot I had...amazing!!

Thank you for the prayers...I appreciate that!!

Have a good rest of the day....love you...hugs....connie d

Trish:  Do you cook your ears of corn on the grill?  They always look so delicious when they are cooked that way on the cooking shows I indulge in.

I purged a little bit today, too.  Got rid of some stuff I had been hanging onto forever.  It felt good.  I need to do more.  It's so easy to accumulate stuff and so hard to get rid of it.

Good afternoon Julia and everyone....

It is so good that you are out walking and getting stronger. Being active is so important. Good for you!

I might be a nice day to go to a movie. I hope you enjoy it what ever you see.

No more fever...finally!! That is so good. I am happy you are feeling so much better!

As for me.... I spent most of my evening on the internet and phone with "APPLE". I got hacked. You may have gotten messages from me...but not really me. I suggest you change your passwords on OFF and Facebook. I did them all. We were having some activity on here with people with no real accounts. It was either them or someone on Facebook. That was a mess to restore!! Especially for me as I am not computer savvy at all. I am so sorry if they got to your accounts. BEWARE!!

I was so tired last night but of course I couldn't sleep. I finally got to sleep at about 6:00 AM. I slept until 11:00...that was pretty good. I do hate when I am up all night.

I am going for another little walk soon. I can't be outside..DARN! Temp is 84 degrees with humidity in the upper 70s.

Prayers for all our precious OFF Family and their families.

Special prayers for Mary...I hope someone is with her now. Also more prayers for Vickie as she does her best to get through this trying time. Prayers too for Judy's sister, Bonnie and also her mother. There are more that have asked for prayers and I have included them as well.

I wish you all a relaxing day...at least try to sneak away for a little time for yourselves. Always remember to Pay It Forward or do an Act of Kindness when you can.

I love all you ladies....and value your friendships so much!!

Lots of love and many hugs...connie d

Hi Julia and my OFF family:

So glad you are feeling better, Julia. Enjoy the day.

I slept well enough but still feel fatigued. And yes, my back still hurts. It's in my right cheek and down my right leg. With the holiday, I'll have to wait until Tuesday to call. I have a chiro appointment, too, on Tuesday, so maybe that'll help. I just thought I'd have more relief by now. The last two nights at work have been a pain and not feeling good have made them worse. I don't like taking a painkiller at work but I had to or I wouldn't have made it through the night.

Talked to my brother Gary this morning; he's not coming back til Wednesday. SIL has stuff she needs to do until then and brother Ed needs rides to PT. Services for her mom was yesterday and Gary said it was very nice. I could've watched it streaming on the computer but it was at noon yesterday and I had just gotten up.

I relisted my little kitchen cart on FB online garage sale and hopefully this time I've sold it. Last time, the woman wanted it but never paid for it. Also put the washer/dryer on craigslist because I'm getting no bites from the FB site. Need to sell it because I need the money to move and we'll have a w/d in the apartment (also a microwave, so I need to sell mine).

I guess I need to start getting ready for work. Have a good day.
