SATURDAY!
Hello Yvonne....I am happy your friend will be home on the 15th. I am sure you will have a great time together!!
Honey....my life is just as boring as yours!! I leave my place on Tuesdays for errands and to get groceries. I have plenty to keep me busy. But it is nice to have a little company now and then. You should try the coloring we all seem to be getting into. It is so relaxing and fun.
Thank you for understanding about my depression. This time it is really bad. I think it is because Fall is here and then Winter. I don't do well then at all. I always end up more depressed in the winter. I need to get out of this slump before the winter gets here!! You have depression so you understand how that works!
Have a nice evening!! Keep posting we love to here from you!!!
Love and many hugs to you....connie d
Hi Connie & Yvonne,
I should be able to join the 'boring life club' too!
Jim & I are fortunate we have both sides of the family in the same state so they are close by. Our neighbors are great...even if some are a little kooky. But we watch out for each other.
However, the majority of our time is spent w/just the 3 of us...him, Jazz & I. Since I retired last year & I am too young for benefits money is incredibly tight. That is why I am anxious to go back to work after my surgery. Part-time will at least give us some pocket money to tide us over the next couple years.
Meanwhile, our families are very fortunate financially... as are some of the ladies on this board. My sister & her husband travel extensively & she was telling me they are doing a 'spur of the moment' vacation to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons & Jackson Hole, WY next week. (Similar to Jeannie's trip over the summer.) They went to Puerto Rico in June...Maine in July. Not only do they travel themselves, but often take 3 adult sons... all expenses paid...with them. I could go on & on, but it is a lifestyle I will NEVER have. We struggle to take Jazz to the movies or give her Mall or skating money now.
However, that being said...I think there is something to be said for the 'boring life!'
1) in my case I simply would not be able to run around like Carla! I get homesick! I want to sleep in my own bed. I like routine (my control issues...lol)
2) I want to travel, but right now it's not in the cards. I can live w/that. One of the things that completely changed my outlook on life was my cancer diagnosis. I may not like that I can't afford to live the way I would like, but I have accepted this is the path I am supposed to be on. And there are a lot worse things than a boring life...look around us!
3) As I get older I treasure the ppl I love more & more. I think that is why it hurt so bad to see Vickie...and now Mary...lose their spouses. I bet Vickie and Mary would trade anything to have their men back. So when I get in those envious/jealous/poor me moods...which can be fairly frequent these days...I try to think of what I have instead of what I don't. And remember...I managed a homeless shelter. You are never truly alone until you end up w/nothing & not a damn person in your universe will lift a finger to help you.
So...let me join the 'boring' club...lol! I think the biggest plus of boring is I cannot take a lot of excitement & chaos anymore. I need to keep my blood pressure down..try not to shock my heart...or pee myself from laughing so hard. (That reminds me...we need to do something about Judy & her stories..lol!)
Anyhow , love to both of you!
Kathy
Good Afternoon!
I agree with what has been said about your posts, Kathy. You seem to have great insight.
I just want to add that I think we all contribute to OFF -- each one differently. The diversity of OFF is what draws me in every day. I have been making an effort to post more frequently. I am often a person of few words and so I feel that I don't have much to say sometimes -- but I've been pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.
I thank The Lord for each one of us!
Hubby had a migraine from hell. He's extremely limited as to what he can take for pain. Can't take NSAIDS or aspirin (RNY); can't take Triptans (like Maxalt) for migraine pain because of his heart; can't take Tylenol because of his liver. So, he's on heavy duty pain meds to help with the pain of his migraines (which are frequent). Well, our PCP of many years moved on to Colorado and so hubby has a new one and this guy is seemingly right out of school. He is extremely cautious (which is good) but he has no bedside manner and little compassion. We spent all day Thursday fighting to get hubby's migraine pain meds. At the end of the day (after TRYING to work with the office staff), we sat and waited for the PCP to have a few minutes. I guess he was irritated with hubby and me because he walked out of the room when hubby was trying to explain something to him and he told hubby after hubby told him he was not med-seeking nor is he a drug addict -- well, he said "well, then, I guess you won't mind taking a urine sample will you?" and walked out of the room. SOMETHING has to change. Not sure whether we should look into finding a new and unknown (to us) PCP or if hubby should ask for a referral to a pain clinic or what. I feel for hubby as he's super stressed out by the whole thing. I don't think he can tolerate going through this same saga every month.
Also, our DDS can't prescribe the only type of pain med hubby can take and hubby is at the stage in life where he's having a lot of dental work (root canals, tooth extractions, etc.) so the DDS used to call our previous PCP to get pain meds specifically for dental work. He contacted the new PCP this past week to ask for a script for hubby. The new PCP told hubby that as far as dental work goes and dental surgery, that the DDS should control the pain at the time of surgery and he's not going to write a script for dental pain. The unfortunate thing is that our previous PCP was part of the same medical practice that the new PCP is in so you would think he could look at hubby's records to see that he is compliant and not trying to take advantage.
The weather is beautiful today!
Well, I did sleep better last night. Yay! Woke up this morning and felt human again. Maybe I do need a sleep study to see what is going on.
I hope you have a good rest of the afternoon and a restful night's sleep and that your Sunday is just as you want it to be.

Judy, over the years, we've tried everything. We had a really good chiropractor in Boise and then one in Corvallis -- hubby still had migraines. We've even tried acupuncture -- which helped the day of the treatment but relief didn't last longer than that. Our insurance for chiropractic/acupuncture/physical therapy is extremely limited. Yet, they will pay through the nose for doctor visits and for prescription drugs. GO FIGURE!

Hello Cindy...I thank GOD for you every day too!!!
Cindy...you need to report that PCP's behavior. That was totally not called for. Plus you need a new PCP. He isn't going to go far if he doesn't change his attitude!!! He makes me mad!! That PCP better take some time...like this long weekend.... and read each patients files. How can he help people if he doesn't know anything about them. Grrrrrrrr!! He won't have anyone wanting to work for him like that either!!!
I agree...the PCP can get all your hubby's info from his charts. He just thinks he knows everything...NOT!
I hope you have a peaceful evening....lots of love and hugs and prayers coming your way....connie d
Connie: YES, the new PCP should spend some time reviewing charts! I did place a call in to a new M.D. who is setting up shop in our town. He had previously practiced in a nearby city. Anyway, we are picking up new patient paperwork this next Tuesday. We're definitely seriously considering changing medical practices. It's a bit scary as you never know what might happen with a new doc. I just seriously doubt that this other doc has the same kind of bedside manner as the current PCP. He certainly is wet behind the ears. He needs lots more PRACTICE to become a good doc. He may have the education that he needs but not the life-experiences. I couldn't believe it when he poo-pooed the notion that hubby would need pain meds after a tooth extraction or root canal. I felt like saying "surely, you jest" but I decided to remain quiet. Until we have something else lined up for sure, we need to work with this PCP.
