Cindi:  Thanks for the tip about the National Park Service free pass for families of 4th graders.  I am going to pass this info on to our son and his wife as one of our grandchildren is in the 4th grade this year.  They love doing outdoor activities as a family so this info will come in handy I'm sure.

Enjoy your outing today and your stop at Marden's.  Hope they have what you're looking for.

hint....I am a terrible stick.  I dread blood work.  however, if I go to the bathroom and run the ho****er until it is as hot as I can stand then keep my hand under it as long as possible the veins pop up.  To keep it from cooling too fast I fold paper towels into a small square and run them under the ho****er, squeeze them out and put them on top of my hand.  Much easier for the technician and for me.

Good morning (barely!) sistas,

I am so saddened by Mary's news.  I can't talk about it.

No sleep again last night.  This is getting so old.  I can fall asleep; I just can't stay asleep.  Sigh.

More sewing today.  Yesterday I make one of the curtain panels and the two valances for the front bedroom (Mom's sitting room).  Today I have to make the last curtain panel, and then we'll try hanging them.  Oh, joy!  That will be fun.

I ordered the pinch pleated white sheers for my living room this morning.  Now I just have to figure out the correct pins to use to utilize the existing hardware for the vertical blinds.  This window is 144" wide, so I DON'T want to have to buy new hardware!  On Pinterest they all show using a little hook thingie from IKEA.  Well, I went on-line to buy the darn things and I got so frustrated at the all the add-ons, that I didn't order them!  They cost $2.99/pkg, and I need two packages.  Great!  $6!  Only by the time they added on the shipping, taxes, etc., the price was over $20 and that made me so mad!  I will wait and go see what I can find locally at JoAnn's or Han**** Fabrics first.

Cindy, I've never heard of Mardens.  Sounds like fun!  Wish I could go with you.

Trish, I'm going to very cautiously dip my toe in the water here and express an opinion about Colleen.  I know she's your daughter and you are trying so hard to adhere to her (IMHO) very rigid rules and restrictions about the kids (boy, are you trying! Your posts are full of "Colleen says" rules!), but a McDonald's happy meal toy is not a big deal at all!  Colleen needs some help!  Seriously.  I've never heard of such a controlling personality, and I'm afraid it will one day backfire on her with the kids.  Plus, she makes YOU miserable when you accidentally violate one of her rules, and good Lord, woman, you do SO MUCH FOR HER!  I just think maybe y'all would benefit from a little counseling?  Maybe at your church.  Colleen seems to be getting worse all the time.  She's headed for a LOT of rebellious teenagers if she doesn't learn to give in just a little.

(I'm sorry if I offended you, Trish.  You know I love you dearly.)

Last night I got so sick of the brown velvet in the master bath that I just took it all down.  I'd rather look at the plain blinds with no valances at all until I can get my own things put up in place.  When Carrie gets here this weekend, I'm going to get her to help me take down the brown velvet valances in all the other windows.  They are too wide for me to manage the curtain rods on my own.

I usually babysit the boys on Friday nights, but Chris asked me to babysit on Saturday instead, since both she and Mike have to work all day.  Gulp!  8 hours of "no, no, Budder"!  LOL!  I have to babyproof the house this evening!

Well, that's about all I know.  I love you all.  Mary, darling, my heart breaks for you.

Vickie Sweetie,

You did not offend me at all.  I have been worried about Colleen since I moved here.  I know she needs help.  I just have been praying how to broach the subject with her.  There are so many reasons I am waiting and praying.  Some involve Trent, and his family.  They have weird beliefs about mental health and stuff like that.  Some involve Colleen's refusal to be open minded about mental health issues, which I believe is her way of protecting herself from remembering her childhood, and the worst of my mental illnesses.  I'm going to discuss it with my therapist, and maybe her Dad.  He might be able to give her some perspective, since he had to deal with the fallout of my behavior too.  Please pray.  I understand her, but don't know if I am the one to approach her first.

My church doesn't offer counseling.  But, if needed, I probably could see if she could join me with my therapist for a few sessions.  She is wrapped so tight in every aspect of her life, I fear she may have a real meltdown someday.

I'd appreciate prayer for her, me, and this whole situation.

Love you.

You got it, sweetheart!  Praying!  I certainly understand about mothers and daughters.  Fraught with danger and pitfalls, for sure!  Love you!

Vickie:  I'm sorry you didn't sleep very well again last night.  How frustrating!  I've been there so I know what it's like to be WIDE AWAKE at night.  It sucks.

I have to do a lot of on-line shopping here because we live in such a small town and our shopping choices are quite limited.  It hurts to have to pay shipping and handling and some places even tack on a fee for minimum orders.  We have to grin and bear it because there often isn't any alternative -- but it HURTS.

Hello Sweet Vickie....I can tell you are worn out. I am glad that Carrie will be with you tomorrow to help with the curtains and the boys!! The little Budder is a stinker!!

I too would rather have white shades and no velvet curtains!!

I am not posting much today. I am just exhausted. You know I love you and I care very much. God Bless you.

Take care...you know I am only a chat away!!

Loads of love and bunches of hugs.... connie s

Vickie,  If you are a member of Amazon Prime, check and see if they have what you need for your curtains. I was surprised at all the sewing, quilting, crochet and knitting accessories they carry. Hope this can help a little bit. Even if you are not a prime member, some of their stuff has low shipping or even free shipping.
