Happy Labor Day y'all

It IS Labor Day, right?  I think so.  I have to confess I haven't been paying much attention to dates or the calendar lately.  This summer has gone by in a confused blur of grief and sadness.  I'm glad to see the end of it.

So, my little "****tail" of melatonin and ambien still worked last night, but not quite as well as the night before.  But not to worry.  I go to see my doctor tomorrow morning, and I will discuss all of my sleeping problems with him.  I also have very, very stiff muscles and joints, particularly in my hands.  My ring finger even "locks" in place if I try to make a fist or tighten my grip too much (like opening a jar).  I hope it's not arthritis.

Well, Christie must be over her mad at me because I heard from her first thing this morning.  Of course, she needs something from me, so that probably has a lot to do with it.  The refrigerator in their house quit on them last night.  I had already told her she could have the newer French door refrigerator that Butch and I bought for the lakehouse.  But of course, we have to get it moved here.  Mike gets off at 3 and he and I will go out there and see if we can get it moved.  In the meantime she's bringing all of her frig and freezer foods over here to keep for the day.  Okay.  I guess I can handle that.  I needed to clean out my frig anyway.  LOL.

I plan to do more sewing today, as much as possible.  I really want to finish up these outdoor cushions so I can move on to something else!

I got on the scale today.  Still holding at 194.  I really have to try and make that scale start moving DOWN.  At least it's not moving UP.  Connie, I did get off the Thrive.  Not sure if that was contributing to my insomnia or not, because I've had it basically all summer, but I decided it wasn't worth it.  I need to sleep more than I need to lose weight right now.

I'm really excited about the possibility of getting my new curtains and valances ordered/sewn/hung!  It's past time for the brown velvet to come down.

Love you all!

Labor Day is next weekend.  I am probably only aware of that because the Monday holiday falls the day after our son's birthday!

Didn't sleep very well again last night.  I sat up and watched TV and finally fell asleep there but that's not nearly as restful a sleep as when you're in your own bed.  (sigh)

The dog woke me up early to go potty and to eat.  He's a happy camper now that he's been outside and also eaten his breakfast.  I'd lay back down but am afraid I'd fall into a heavy sleep and the painter is coming at 9 a.m. to paint around the glass slider so I might just as well stay up at this point.

Vickie, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your patio when you are done with it.

Julia, it's good to see you posting and on the mend.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hello Cindy...I am so sorry you had a rough night's sleep. It always seems like when we need it most it eludes us!! I hope tonight is a better night for you too.

They have to be just about completely done with all the little tasks the painters and such needed to do. For your sake I hope they are done today!! Then you can sleep whenever you can.

As for me.... I slept a bit better last night. I ended up needing to take a Vicodin and that usually knocks me out.

I just went for a short walk and then down to the kitchen to pick up lunch. I decided I will start "Back to Basic" next week. I am still so weak and rundown from whatever that was that I caught.

I don't have any appointments today so it will be a quiet day. I would like to sit outside for a little while. Never mind it is 81 degrees and 80% humidity. Maybe I will just step out the door and sit on one of the benches for 5 minutes or so.

I am wishing you all a beautiful day!!

I will check in again later today.

Prayers for our loving OFF Family and their families!

Special prayers as requested.

Loads of love and bunches of hugs to all....connie d

Hi, Connie.  Construction around here is DONE!    I am so relieved.  Now, we wait for the window covering -- but that's no biggie.

Perhaps I'll sleep better tonight -- who knows how much stress all the hullabaloo was causing.  Anyway, I am happy, happy, happy that all the workers are gone.

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

You sound busy, Vickie, and that's good. I have been wondering, however, if maybe you should see a therapist or join a grief group. You have gone through a lot this past year. Maybe you could use someone to talk to. Just a thought.

Yes, next week Monday is Labor Day. I know this because the next paycheck (the one I get after we move into our new apartment) will be super big because I'll have OT from working Wednesday and OT from the holiday work. I'm happy about that.

I slept well last night ... went to sleep about midnight and slept straight through to ... well, I thought it was 7 a.m. but when I got out in the living room with my glasses on it was 9 a.m. So I got lots of sleep and I felt much better. Then I was moving around and pulled a muscle in the middle of my back. Tried ice and now BioFreeze. That seems to be working. I also have a headache. Icepack on my neck right now. Have to work tonight, but then I'm off tomorrow for my epidural. I had to find another driver with Gary gone, so I asked my boss and she said yes. I'll have to drive my car there and retrieve it later.

Other than that, not much happening. Vickie, I wake up stiff most mornings. Since I've been using the voltaren gel, not as much. I only use it at night because it's so gloppy, but it does seem to help. It's an NSAID, so you do have to watch how much you use. But I have seen a difference. So ask your doctor about it.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hello Eileen...glad you will be getting such a great check next week. That should help you get caught up on some of the extra moving costs.

Good for you a good night's sleep. It sounds like you got plenty of deep sleep too! That is always the best!!

I hope your body feels better after the icing and Bio-freeze treatments. I am sure you are much more sore from all the moving around boxes and packing and all.

I pray your epidural goes well. It is really nice of your boss to come and pick you up after you are done.

I use Voltaire Gel. I only use about a pea size amount on my hands. Mostly my thumbs. I can tell a difference. Not quite as sharp a pain. My doctor told me to only use it in small areas because it is a NSAID. I have another gel for my neck, back, and knees.

I pray you get relief from that headache and other pain soon.

I hope work goes well for you tonight...love and hugs...connie d
