Wednesday - Midway Thru The Week.........
5:00 and I'm up and about -- Actually, I'm usually up around 4:30, so this is late for me!
Will go visit Jim later today... was scheduled for colonoscopy yesterday and he didn't drink enough of the prep fluid so they postponed it until today. I'm going to stay home until he completes the test...we had a "disagreement" yesterday because I told him he wasn't trying hard enough to get that God-awful drink down. I know it's horrible, but it has to be done and I'm not going to argue about it. Also, while we were on the phone last night, the dietician/nutritionist came in to see him - she got on the phone with me and was going to leave some low sodium diet information. I really want to have a "sit-down" with her - I've looked up information on the computer, but I'd like an in-depth meeting with her.
Kathy - are Jazz's pictures on Facebook? If so, how can I add you....or could you add me--I'm Mary Geordano on Facebook. I'd like to add everyone so if anyone can add me or give their info I'd appreciate it. I know several posted their info a few weeks ago, but I had a lot going on.
Vickie, I saw the pictures you posted..."the boys" are getting so big, and they are a handsome pair, for sure!! Hope you found all the paperwork you needed to "take care of business".
Connie - So glad you're feeling better. I see that you enjoy coloring -- when Maura was younger I used to color in some of her books - it was, indeed, very relaxing. I have some books for Taylor here....but since so many adults are coloring, are there "adult" books? I should go and get some yarn and crochet hooks. My grandmother taught me how to crochet an afghan years ago - what I call the zig-zag pattern. Maybe I could start one for Taylor. I had made an "Irish" one for myself - beautiful green, yellow and cream colors. I loved it, but in my many, many moves over the years, it was lost.
Cindi - glad you got your Mother's computer issues resolved. Hope your stiff neck and sinus headache had cleared up too.
Eileen - I'll have to try that Salsa Chicken. I've been having problems with protein lately, and maybe a crockpot chicken recipe will be good to try.
Trish - Sounds like your choir experiences were wonderful - and Izzy is sure to have a wonderful experience too!
Cindy - glad you had a good therapist appointment yesterday. I had one I liked, but he moved to Arizona and I haven't found another one I liked.
Judy, things are never quiet for you...you would probably go nuts if things were too quiet!!
I've got to get busy going through a bag of mail I have in a bag next to my recliner. I'm such a procrastinator, it's a major problem with me. I let things "pile-up" I've got to find some forms for fuel assistance, and I've got to pay car excise tax on line so I can renew my car registration too.
Hope everyone has a good day...prayers and good wishes to all.
Mary
Good Morning Mary and OFF-
Mary hope you got through that bag of mail. I too procrastinate but finally got myself organized by putting almost everything on automatic payment except for things like the registration. But Texas send me reminders for my registration renewal and I can get online to take care of it.
Drab and dreary day today here in Maine. Want to just go back to bed. My stiff neck and sinsus headache are better. When the chiropracter cracked me yesterday I felt the adjustment all the way to my chin so my neck was really out of alignment. Can't crawl into bed though because I need to take advantage of cooler weather and pack the last boxes that I need to pack, then I can spend all my time sleeping if I want.
Eileen I am definately going to try the Salsa Chicken recipe when I get back to Texas. My crock pot is in Texas not here in Maine.
Trish your granddaughter will have a great time in the choir. I studied piano for many years as a child. I sang in a choir too but smoking ruined my voice.
Carla looks like Erika is coming to visit Florida. Hope you are watching the weather and making plans.
For all of you struggling with the restless legs, two thoughts or ideas. 1. Hylands Leg Cramp creme. I use that when my legs twitch really badly. Seems to calm them down. 2. There are meds for restless leg syndrome and a bloodtest. It's related to iron in some way. When I had my sleep study years ago they wanted to say I had restless leg syndrome. Doctor ran the bloodtest and said no. Mine is more related to doing a lot of sitting and then laying down.
Spent most of last evening chatting with my friend who is on her way to Idaho to fight the fires. She hasn't been on a fire detail in about 4 years. Now get this, they sent her from Houston to Atlanta to Salt Lake City to Lewiston Idaho yesterday and then expected her to drive a car for 2.5 hours to the "base camp". So she starts at 11 am and finally gets to Idaho at 11:30 am. Fortunately she called the dispatcher and they put her up in a hotel in Lewiston so she would be able to drive in heavy smoke during daylight hours rather than at night. I consider myself to be her "Mom" and I told her to tell the dispatcher that her "Mom" was not happy with the travel plans. Believe it or not they have government regulations for how long they can travel before having to rest. Her whole trip was a major violation.
Just got a text message that my car is 60% done at the body shop. Ain't technology grand! Of course I had to call my doctor today because Expresscripts lost the script that the doc sent them on August 13. So as soon as doc tells me they have faxed it again I will call Expresscripts and tell them to express ship the script at their expense not mine.
Tonight I'm going to go to one of those painting classes. Tonight's picture is a chickadee on a pine branch with pine needles and pine cones. It will be a particular challenge for me as my OCD and birdwatching habit will want the chickadee to be perfect. Also the last two classes I participated in I rushed ahead of the instructor rather than listen to her directions. So tonight I resolve to listen before painting. Let's see how I do. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.
Well that's about all from wet and dreary Maine. Have to get my butt in gear and do some stuff today rather than sit in this chair all day.
Thoughts and electronic hugs going out to all of you.
Cindi B.
Hello Cindi...I am sorry you are still putting up with those headaches and stiff neck. I am glad the Chiro helped you feel better yesterday.
WOW...you are packing the last boxes...good for you. I hope you finished and did take a nap.
That was nice that you got to chat with your friend. She is one brave woman!! That way of getting her there was all wrong. It was also very dangerous for her. I hope she lets them know it!
Have a great time at your painting class. I will look forward to seeing how your painting turns out!! I am sure it will be great!
Love and hugs to you....connie d
Hi Mary and my OFF family:
Hope you can get Jim to drink enough of the prep. I know it's yucky but it's necessary. I actually had to do the prep for two days because they couldn't do it the first time because I hadn't done enough (so they said, although I know I had).
Well, yesterday was a busy day for me. Saw my therapist and my chiro. Got home and made sour cream apple muffins (these are healthy ones ... gastric bypass friendly, low carb, low fat), plus finished up the salsa chicken, which Gary pronounced very good. After dinner, I had to clean up the mess and put away the food. Then I retreated to my bedroom to watch the ballgame and read. I was going to do laundry and do some pitching and packing, but I was too tired.
Now today I have to go back to work. I am so not ready. I slept well, but I'm very tired. Still have to clean out the crockpot and the muffin pans (silicon pans, so they're easy to clean, but I just wasn't up to it last night). I just overdid it last night.
I need to get in the shower and have lunch and start thinking about the rest of the day. Just not up for it. Have a good day.
Hello Eileen...I am still thinking of your yummy Salsa Chicken!!
So how did your appointments go yesterday? I hope you felt better after each of them.
Are the people at your new complex going to give you the right size apartment. You should get it if that is what they showed you. Good luck...I hope you can get it figured out. Less rent if nothing else!
I hope your night goes quickly and you can be home sooner then otherwise!
How are you feeling now...are you still having problems with fatigue ? I hope that is better by now.
Love you..hugs....connie d
Hi Eileen...I am so happy that your appointments went well!!!
I am also glad that things are going so good with your therapist! It is nice to know you have someone you can communicate with so well. I like that she challenges you. You will learn more about yourself that way!
Love and more hugs...connie d
I am Arlene and usually lurk. Sometimes I reply. I don't remember everyone's name here so wish everyone well. Mary, my heart goes out to you. You try with Jim and well, please take care of you first. Please.
I keep in touch with some of you on Facebook. My life is boring because I have one daughter and she doesn't have children. I am a little older than some, 66, had my sleeve almost a year ago. Don't carb out too much. If only gastric surgery was as wonderful as it is during the honeymoon period. Now I can eat much more. However, I do avoid what made me huge in the first place: sugar. I avoid it at all costs. Sending best wishes to all. The only excitement I had recently is I fell outside Publix here in Port St Lucie FL, and ended up in the ER. Thought I broke my nose, it bled like a sieve. I have a gash on the bridge of my nose and a hurt pride. Sending best wishes and love to all and will try to post more in the future.
Arlene- I'm glad to meet you. I was off the forum for about 18 months while I worked on a book project.
There is no such thing as boring.
Happy to read that while you have a gash on the nose, you are otherwise unscathed by the fall. One could also say that it is a non-scale victory you fell without breaking anything!
Can't remember for sure, but isn't Port St. Lucie on the Gulf side of Florida. I'm watching the tropical storm updates and hope Erika is not going to impact you.
Just keep listening to your body and continue on the path of no sugar. I stopped listening and using my sleeve as a tool thus have regained most of what I lost. But I'm going to get back on track and do better.
Hope you aren't impacted by the hurricane.
Cindi
