Good Morning

Good Afternoon Cindy, and OFF Family,

I spent the morning making phone calls, and leaving messages.  So far the therapists I have spoken to either don't take Medicare, or are not taking new patients.  Finally, I realized I could go to Medicare's website, and narrow down my search.  Duh!  I will be making more phone calls after I post this.  As I've thought about it, I think that not only my trip to help Mom in July had an effect on me, but also losing my friend, Ruth, in February, has left a huge void in my life.  She was the only friend who knew absolutely every secret about me, and did not criticize or judge me on any of it.  She helped me grow spiritually and emotionally, and because of her, and my old therapist, I made a huge change in my life after my divorce.  I am hoping to have an appointment scheduled today.  I've been working on this since the day after I posted about it in the first place.

A few weeks ago I went to a demonstration of essential oils.  I bought a sample pack and a diffuser, because the consultant let me try lavender and peppermint for my sinuses and they helped.  I've been using them since, and I can honestly say it's a miracle.  I haven't needed my prescription nasal sprays in days.

Hallelujah!  I got a return call and I have an appointment with a new therapist on Monday afternoon.  Please pray he and I click.

I have a pot roast in the crockpot.  Colleen dropped by to get some potatoes, coz she's making one.  I decided that sounded yummy, so I'm making one. Trent's brother gave me a slew of them from their garden the night I watched their kids.  The corn they gave me was yummy.

Must scoot.

Hugs and Love,

Trish

Trish, how does the diffuser work?  Do you put the essential oils in it and they dissipate into the air?  Hubby has terrible problems with sinus triggered migraines and uses prescription nasal sprays too.  I got him a Neti-Pot to try since I've heard others swear by them but he says it gives him the willies to even think about using it.

Hi Cindy,

I also use a sinus rinse similar to the Neti-Pot, except it's a squirt bottle, but uses the exact same saline/water mixture as the Neti-Pot, and it's made by the same company, Neilmed.  It helps tremendously getting all kinds of yuck out of my sinuses.  Only problem is that if my sinuses are inflamed, because of an infection, allergies, or both, it doesn't reduce the inflammation.

The diffuser is rather simple.  You put distilled, or filtered, water in to the fill line.  Then around 10-12 drops of the oil in, and turn it on.  The mixture comes out of a hole in the top, kind of like a mist.  It puts me in mind of a cool air humidifier.  Makes the room smell awesome.  The consultant said the different oils help with different health issues.  Colleen uses one called Thieves when there are illnesses going around, like colds, flu and stomach bugs.  In addition to using it in the diffuser, she also rubs it on the kids' feet, mixing it with a diffusing oil.  I am amazed at how good I feel since I started using this thing.

If you're interested in it, the company is Young Living.  They have a website.

Love ya.

Hi Cindy,

If you decide to order anything, if it asks for the name of a consultant, use mine.  I get some sort of credit.

I still have to talk to hubby about it.  If I end up ordering, I'll be sure to give your name.

How strong of a fragrance is there? I have a terrible allergy to fragrances. The other day at the pool, a woman had a whole lot of perfume on her (in the pool!) and I started gagging and nearly had an asthma attack (well, that and the excessive chlorine). I really have a problem with it. I don't know how well I'd do with lavender. It has bothered me in the past.

Eileen,

I don't know if you would have a reaction to the oils, but I can tell you that I have had moments when it gets to me, and I have to turn off the diffuser for a couple hours.  It would be a gamble for you.

Love ya

Hello Trish...glad to see you here today!

I pray you get a return call and an appointment soon. I know this part can be difficult. So many places don't take Medicare anymore. YAY....I just read you do have an appointment on Monday! That is great!!!

I have a box of Essential Oils in my bedroom. I have quite a few bottles and a defuser too. I have a large book about everything it is good for. A smaller book is included in the package. I haven't taken the time to read up on it. Truth is, I forgot it was there. It is behind my bedroom door. It was a gift quite a long time ago. I will drag it out one of these days!! I know it is really good products. I have always used lavender, especially in my bedroom. Thanks for the reminder!!

I think you are right about your mom and Ruth too!! That will be a good place to start. I wish you all the best!! Sending prayers.

That roast sounds good. The weather is getting cooler and I want to make more meals to freeze. I will have to make a pork roast. I have two in the freezer now. Also a couple tenderloins too. I just don't care for red meat. Maybe that will change sometime. I do miss a good steak!!

Thanks for the note you sent me. It was very nice!!

Love to you and hugs too...connie d

Hi Connie,

Yes, I have an appointment at 2:00 on Monday.  I'm pretty hopeful about it.  I spoke with the therapist's receptionist at length, and she was so kind.  There are two therapists in the practice.  They are both taking new patients, but she recommended the on I'm scheduled with, because he's easier to get scheduled with right now.  Seems the other therapist does a lot of evaluations and testing, in addition to regular psychotherapy.  My new therapist only does therapy.

Can you eat sauerkraut?  I love to cook it with a pork roast and potatoes in the crockpot.  It is so easy, and tastes awesome.  I buy the sauerkraut in the bag, usually it's sold where hot dogs and packaged lunch meats are.  I cut up a couple potatoes, put them and the roast in the crockpot.  Pour the sauerkraut over the roast and potatoes, spreading it around coz it comes out of the bag in a clump.  Lid on, crockpot on, and walk away.  When it's done, the roast is moist and both the roast and potatoes get so much flavor from the juice.  I'm tempted to make one next week.

Love you.
