Travel Tuesday
I am home from my three day, two night, exhausting adventure. I swam more today than in ages. It rained all afternoon yesterday, so we went to a high school 30 minutes from camp, where they have a community pool, indoors, with a mini water park, with sprinklers, a wading pool, with a mini water slide where the kids land in 2 inches of water. As we walked further in, it got deeper, and there was a wall partway across the middle, where we walked into deeper water, where there was a larger, two story high, water slide into deep water. between the wading pool, and the deep part, was a lazy river, where the whirlpool pulled you in a loop. There was also a pool where the high school swim team practice, with diving stands for races were, as well as a diving board for kids to jump off. When we got back to camp, the sun was out. So, after supper, we went to the little beach by the lake, and Izzy tried to swim out to a floating dock, pretty far out in the deeper part of the lake, so she came back. So, I promised to swim out with her today. Well, today, we went out, and after she climbed up on the dock, Lincoln called me from the shallow end to tell me he wanted to try. So, I brought Izzy back to the shallow end, and he and I went right back out. I'm not sure exactly how far I went, but it had been a while. Yesterday was light swimming most of the time, because a lot of the time was watching the big kids at the end of the big water slide, or holding onto Frankie while Colleen sat in the hot tub. They had these cool things that little kids wore, in addition to life preservers. It was a combination of a snug fitting foam floating ring on the front, combined with the foam water wings, all covered in fabric, with straps to fit it snugly in the back. He was more buoyant, and had a blast. In the shallow end, they had sprinklers, and two water guns mounted, where Frankie and another boy had a water fight, until Colleen stepped in, because the older boy kept purposely shooting Frankie right in the face. Why are kids so cruel? Still, he had a good time.
Tonight, I helped Colleen pack the pop-up, and clean up her campsite. Now, I am physically worn out. I have another insanely busy day with the kids, while Colleen and Trent go into Detroit to help his cousin, from Maine. Cousin brought his youth group to do mission work rehabbing delapidated houses in the poor part of the city. With Trent's expertise rehabbing houses, and Colleen's experience helping him when he works on their rentals and their house, she is going to help.
So, I get to take the kids bowling, to McDonald's Playland, and then a park with a water pad for sprinklers, an awesome playground, and a lake with a beach. If I survive all that, and have any strength in my body, I will try to post tomorrow night.
Love to all.
