Wednesday Lots to Do

Good Morning OFF,

Well, I am totally annoyed right now, which takes a lot to annoy me.  My sister sent me an email yesterday, which said she was taking Mom to her family doctor at 6 p.m.  I called my sister at 7:30 to find out what the doctor said.  Sis said she'd call me back, coz they were putting dinner on the table.  At 10:00, I called and got my sister's answering machine.  So, I called my sis-in-law, who told me that Mom was put on an antibiotic  coz there was evidence of a urinary tract infection.  Also, the doctor told her to drink more water, and leave the air conditioner on.  (Mom doesn't drink enough water, and she argues if the air conditioner is turned on.)  I emailed my sister's work email address, because she doesn't have Internet at home, and let her know I was annoyed.  This morning she claims she called me last night, and I didn't answer.  I received zero calls last night, and have no voicemails.  If she got no answer, she didn't dial my number.  You either get me, or my voicemail on my number.  No busy signal.  No non answer.

I'm ticked coz she managed to tell my sis-in-law.  But, for me, she had no time, then dialed the wrong number.

I have an appointment this morning.  Then, I have some errands to run.

Must scoot.

Love,

Trish

Good morning Trish and sistas,

Trish, I don't blame you for being ticked.  Your sister and mom are something else!  Try to take a deep breath and let it go.

I'm up and ready to go to the dentist.  I really don't want to go!  For one thing, it's going to hurt and I hate dental work.  For another, they're going to ask about my husband, and I'll have to tell them he passed, which will make me cry to say it aloud.  It always does.

I'm really looking forward to my trip to Waco tomorrow.  Four days away from Mom and four days to play and shop for Pita Piper with Carrie!  Plus, hopefully, we will pick up a rocker/glider I found on a the Waco On-line garage sale.  It's the glider and ottoman for $100!  I hope it's as nice as it looks in the picture and I hope it "fits" Carrie and she wants it.  And it's gray, which seems to be the nursery color de jour right now.  Go figure.

I got my new little bookcase put together yesterday afternoon and it's just perfect for the little space I had in my kitchen.  All of my cook books fit in it just right!  I even have a shelf at the bottom that's not full yet.  Oh, good!  I can buy more cookbooks!  LOL!

This afternoon I'm going to bake a big batch of sugar cookies to take with me to Waco.  I always try to feed hungry college students.  Carrie will enjoy sharing them with her lab mates.  They have invited me to go out to dinner with them tomorrow night.  Adrian (Carrie's lab bro) is leaving and starts his new job in Kerrville in August.  So they're having a little going away dinner for him.  Adrian has already declared himself Pita's godfather.  He has a little boy who's about Benny's age.  Kerrville is not too far, so that's good.  He and Carrie will be able to stay in touch and visit occasionally.

Well, time to brush my teeth AGAIN and head off to the torture chamber.  Check back in with y'all this afternoon.

Love you all!

Vickie, how could I forget you? Sorry you had to cry at the dentist (and that you had to spend three hours in the chair). I hope your visit to Waco is good.

Good Morning Trish & OFF Family!

Trish, you have every right to feel annoyed about your sister! I feel it is important to keep the lines of communication open in a family when someone is not doing well. Her 'excuse' does not ring true, but I'd give her the benefit of the doubt for now. You don't things to go downhill during this critical time w/your mom...you need to be able to get information! Best of luck!

Connie, was sorry to hear you were in so much pain the past couple days during Gracie's visit. It sounds like you enjoy each other's company so much. It is good you can rest up today before she returns. she sounds like such a good kid! I think Jasmyn learned how to be compassionate due to Jim's many health problems. So while you may feel bad about not being up to snuff you are teaching her skills & compassion for others. enjoy her return!

Jeannie, I really would like to be a stowaway on your vacation to Texas, but more so next year on your trip out West! Both vacations sound great, and the kids will treasure the memories you all make forever. Also hope your husband's eye surgery was successful!

Vickie, I loved the picture of the ring you ordered. My birthstone is an amethyst so I am partial to that stone. It will be a beautiful reminder of a beautiful relationship. And I am sorry you are experiencing the blues no matter how expected, but really rejoice that you have this new life to look forward to!

Mary, I don't mean to laugh, but when I saw the topic yesterday I had to giggle! electronics can be so frustrating! Hope your new one comes in soon!

Eileen, it sounds like you are really struggling energy-wise. I was thinking last night maybe it was related to the delayed emotions we sometimes have to a crisis? at any rate I hope you start to feel more like your old self again soon. I think getting settled when your brother comes will help you!

Yvonne, glad you were able to get to the library & post! I have been going thru a craving period the last few weeks and have eaten foods I know I need to avoid like pizza, McDonald's chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes. I know moderation is the key, but I also know I have a major problem w/moderation! I can't wait to get my 'tool!' So just do the best you can...I think summer is a hard time to avoid temptation. Too much going on! You've been doing god anyhow...

Cindi, you have really been keeping yourself busy! It doesn't sound like any showings have been scheduled, though? I hope things fall into place as it sounds like you are really anxious to get to Texas. We are going next June for my stepdaughter's wedding. You posted a lot of fun things to do we will need to ck out when we are down there!

I just came back from my PCP for my final clearance for my surgery. He said my cardiologist's clearance is the one that makes the difference, and it was not in his records. So I am going to call to see if she sent it in. I thought she had, but now I am wondering if she held back to evaluate my coumidin levels which were unfortunately out of whack for a few months. Last week it was finally back to normal range. I hope all is good. I lost 5 pounds since the 1st week of July. Not great, but I have been 'cheating' some.

Hope everyone has a great day. We are in for a hot one again w/heat index over 100. Yuk! AC is my best friend!

HELLO KATHY.....Gracie goes on her overnight visit with her Aunt, Uncle and cousins tomorrow morning. I had a better day today as long as I keep taking the meds! We have been having fun together. I just can't do a lot of moving around. Monday and Tuesday were the hardest days because of pain. We made it through and we still had fun!! Today she went through all my jewelry looking at things she might want. She picked out some smaller earrings, pins and a few other things. Some she will have to keep until she is a bit older. I gave her a small jewelry box to keep her things in. She was so happy!! I have way too much jewelry anyway. I used to dress up and wear earrings, necklaces, pins, rings and bracelets. I just don't have the energy to do it much anymore. I hardly ever even get makeup on anymore...makes me sad.

Gracie is very compassionate and loving. She cares about people and animals even those she doesn't really know. She likes to help others!! That is carried on from my mother to me to Jamie to Gracie and Nic. The same for Carrie's children.

I hope you get the clearance you need to finally get this surgery underway!! You are doing so great without the tool...I can imagine you will be a star when you have that to help you!!!

I went and opened my windows about 2:00 as the temp was down and so was the humidity. That lasted about an hour. The wind came in my windows...changed direction...humidity was back up...windows closed again!! It was good while it lasted!!

Hopefully I will be able to post earlier tomorrow!!!

Love you much....HUGS....connie d

Good luck on getting that clearance. I had to have a stress test to get my final clearance, too, and I had just had knee surgery so I had to have the drug stress test. Made me really thirsty. When I was done, I went to Red Lobster for lunch and drank about two pitchers of water (along with the food that I ate).

Eileen, I thought she had cleared me a couple months ago so I don't know why it would not be showing up in my PCP's records. I was going to call today, but let the day get away from me.

I had that nuclear stress test. Didn't bother me except from the aspect I guess I am too fat to do the treadmill anymore...lol! I had the echocardiogram & procedure where they take a million pictures of your heart. All was good.

So hopefully it is just a paperwork glitch. I go to my last NUT appt. 8/7, then see the surgeon & then all the paperwork gets submitted for approval. I am hoping for a date the 2nd or 3rd week in September!

Good morning Trish and everyone.....

I would be upset about your sister not keeping you updated. That is your mom too!! Try to let it go for now. Hopefully it won't happen again!!

I hop your appointment went well and that you get your errands done.

As for me.... I am doing okay. Wiped out but the pain is much better this morning. Gracie leaves with her cousins tomorrow morning. Then I can really rest for the day. She is so good and really helpful. I just hate being this kind of grandma. I always was the fun one. She told me last night that it was okay if I needed to rest more, she still loved to come here the most!!! That made me cry.

Today is my cleaning fairy day. I need to put some of Gracie's things in one place so Melissa can clean. Just her suitcase and a backpack. Her favorite stuffed animals too!! Gracie keeps things pretty together. I rarely have to pick up after her.

I will try to check back in later. I read Vickie and Kathy's posts. I will reply later. Time for showers now!!

Prayers for our sweet OFF Family and their families.

Special prayers for our Vickie. I know things are hard for her right now. I always have her on my mind. I am glad she has plans with Carrie for the weekend!!

I love you all ...hugs   ...connie d

Post Script:  Back from the dentist.  Spent 3 hours in the chair, ugh!  Had excessive bleeding due to my Von Willebrand's disease, which honestly, I had kind of forgot about.  Guess the dentist forgot too.

And, of course, I had to tell that my husband had passed, and yes, I started crying, and then I lay there in the chair with tears leaking out of my eyes for the first hour.

It was not a fun morning.

Connie, honey, I sure hope you feel better today.  You are still the fun one!

Kathy, you are going to get there!  This fall will be the beginning of a great change for you!  And I think 5 lbs is terrific!

Okay, time to mix up my cookie dough, then I'll crochet for the next several hours while it chills.

Love you all!

Thank you, Vickie!

Question for all you post-op cooking & baking 'fiends'...lol!

Do you ever get to the point where you can bake & not be tempted by what you have made? Seems Trish is baking up a storm all the time, and cupcakes are my downfall along w/chocolate chips! Eating out is now a real struggle for me. I enjoy it, but always regret I 'wasted' my calories or exceeded my carb limits. I could eat 3 times as much at home! It's just not as fun!

I know many are able to eat in moderation after surgery, but I just don't see myself being able to do that! Hopefully the sleeve will prove me wrong & I can have 1 cupcake, 1 slice of cake or 1 slice of pizza, but right now I am doubting it...
