Welcome Lisa! I am not too far off from surgery - probably be late Sept. to early Oct. for me. I am so ready for this! But I do have many questions and just looking for support and encouragement from others in my age group. Apparently some folks had trouble reading my original post - for some reason the font came up all screwy for some and they thought I was some sort of spammer or hacker or something! The paranoia was a bit overboard I think, but in any case a few nice folks have welcomed me and been congenial.

I have completed almost all the medical clearances I need - still have to see the nutritionist one more time, a cardiologist for an EKG, and then the surgeon again at which time I will get my definite date. I have to lose 17 lbs before surgery and have already lost 10 so I'm more than half way there. I can hardly wait to get the show on the road! I haven't always been heavy, altho for most of my adult life I have been. I was a skinny kid and normal weight teen and woman until I started having kids and with each one (4) i put on more and more weight and never got most of it off between pregnancies. Then menopause did a number on me and I gained a whole bunch more. I lost about 50 lbs during the year I had the lap band, which was removed 3 years ago - I've managed to keep that off so that's at least a good thing. But I'm so tired of feeling this way - tired and achy and not able to participate in life to the degree that I'd like to. I know this surgery will change my life for the better and I'm ready to commit myself to everything it entails.

I am the person who did the above post, and here is a link to my page. No, I haven't posted any blogs but there is certainly info about me on my page, a photo and a list of the people I have friended. I don't understand all the paranoia here, but I think I'll just stay away from this group! Someone else said they won't speak to anyone they don't know or know about?!?! Goodness! How could anyone new participate here if that is the attitude? In any case there are many other forums and sites I can participate in. I wish you all well on your journeys.

WOW....never seen anything like this?  The lady was only asking to be included.  I thought we were all here to support each other.....being older does not make us any different.  Hope you have not scared her off

Thank you!! Geesh! I don't know what the problem was/is. Apparently some folks can't see my posts and one person said my personal page was blank, which is absolutely not true! While I have not blogged at all, my story is there as well as my photo, stats and friends. I understand the need for caution with computer security and all that, but this felt a little overboard! In any case, I am looking for support from those in my own age group as I think some of the issues we may have might be a bit different than the younger folks having surgery. Thank you for your friend request - I approved and look forward to chatting with you!
