Update: My new hearing aides
Holy Cow Pee Batman....yes, that's what I said. Okay, my old hearing aides were they kind that fit inside your ear and were sort of hidden...but they turned on and off. They also filled the hole in my ear so my ear rarely felt natural. Also, voices sounded artificial. Plus, I heard all the background noise all the time. When you are fully hearing, you have learned to get rid of the back ground noise...your brain has become a filter so when you walk outside, you might hear the birds and the crickets and the tree frogs and the traffic and voices but you can put all that background noise in the background and ignore it or hear it and the person you are talking to too...but with my old hearing aide...background noise and the person I was talking to competed for attention and my brain would become so overwhelmed. Imagine me walking into a classroom full of students who are al talking and making back back sounds and dropping things....yeah, I kept my hearing aides off until I said, we ready...they knew that meant to STFU and listen. So, these new hearing aides....OMG...I put them on yesterday morning at 5:30 and wore them until midnight. I heard so wonderfully and people's voices were as natural as you can get....we took my granddaughter to eat and the restaurant was very busy...I put it on restaurant mode and only heard my husband and her talking....none of that background sound...it was wonderful. Finally, the amplifier (the thing that puts the sound in my ear) fits so far into my ear that it doesn't press on my ear and it is so tiny and covered in a very soft material that I don't feel it unless I push on it and it isn't uncomfortable...the tube that runs from the amplifier to the receiver which is behind my ear was made from a mold of my hear so it fits nicely into and around my ear....and connects to the receiver which fits behind my ear and weighs nothing. I heard every single thing that everyone said to me and not one time did I say, what...or laugh when everyone else laughed and not because I hear the joke and thought it was funny. Yeah....good news. I still have a few adjustments to the sound but I have to wear them for two weeks and then go back and with the hearing aides in get tested again to see if they need the sound to amplify etc....my old hearing aides, they gave to me and that was it...no adjustments necessary because they turned up sound or turned off sound. So far, so good. I will let you know the minute I find a down side.....
Awesome Jeannie. That's great that the technology is so good these days.
I'm thinking of getting my hearing checked. Been acting up.
