Happy Thursday
Hello Eileen and OFF-
Tired this afternoon. Tossed and turned all night worrying about the prospective buyer coming to see the cabins. Got up early 5:30 and puttered around the house. About 9:00 the realtor called buyer cancelled. Well I just couldn't understand why I had to be here for the buyer and worried that he wanted to live here during the winter as a renter.
So I drove to town for the Walmart run. Got some of my vitamins and packing supplies. I'm being anal retentive about labeling everything that I'm packing with the final destination location. So I'll be printing lots of labels designating the rooms in the new house.
Ya'll in the midwest have been hit with a lot of thunderstorms and lightning. Texas is due to get more rain this weekend. Two of the refuges are still closed due to the flooding.
Eileen- I have to agree with everyone that if you come home from the pharmacy with Synthroid or Levoxithorine you have hypothyroidism. I have it and since having the weight loss surgery I have had to have my dosage adjusted many times. The good news is that it's a cheap medication.
Can't remember who it was that said new doctor wouldn't do the bloodwork required for us post op. Fire that doctor and find someone else. Fortunately, my PCP has consulted with my surgeon and he runs the same tests she does. I'm required to followup with her PA annually and have the blood work. Going to be interesting to see how they handle my moving to Texas.
Connie -sorry the humidity levels have been so high. With COPD I know it's hard for you to breath. I volunteered with a gentleman in Texas who had severe COPD, when the humidity went sky high he would resort to using his oxygen.
Not much else new here in Maine. The strawberries and peas are coming in but they're late this year. Continuing, like all of us, to keep Vickie and the girls in my thoughts.

Yes, I came home with Levoxithorine; it was free! I think I've met my deductible because my Voltaren gel was free too and that's not cheap. I have to wait til tomorrow to take it because I have to take it before breakfast and I have to wait four hours before taking my calcium supplements. (That's going to throw me off ... I take my calcium in the morning, afternoon and evening at work.)
Since I've moved my surgeon, my PCPs have been willing to do my bloodwork for me, no questions asked.
Good Evening Everyone!
I tried to get on to post several times today, but the page kept coming up blank! I have run into problems before where the page just won't open. I guess there is a lot of 'traffic!'
Having a slow day...went for my cuomidin check this morning & it was still off...too high. This time we figured out I mistakenly went by the previous weeks instructions so that is what happened. However, it has been off for the past few months w/no known cause. Frustrating!
But it sounds like we are all going thru something. Getting older...gotta love it!
Connie, you are just having a time out there. We had temps in the 90's w/matching humidity. I spent 2 1/2 hours in the pool & still did not want to come out. I cannot imagine how the humidity affects your COPD. I remember my mom being housebound, but she said she preferred to stay in b/c of being embarrassed & feeling like a pain b/c of her oxygen that she had to cart around with her. One of the things I am grateful for is losing the weight & being able to breathe better. I hated being breathless from the slightest exertion. I guess it is always like that w/COPD. Ugh! Take care!
Interesting so many of you have experienced problems w/your thyroid. I have never had any issues w/mine, but my sister had to have hers removed. I hope I don't develop problems after surgery!
Cindi, I had tried to post on your FB page about the potential client cancelling, but I was on my phone which has a mind of its own. I corrected the post, but again...I hate preparing for something & then it falls thru at the last minute. I had to shake my head about strawberries coming on up there...ours were out in late May & virtually all gone now. It must be really cool up there. My favorite fresh fruit!
My thoughts & prayers are also w/Vickie. In one way I think the 'formal' ceremonies of the visitation & burial help in the mourning process, but then again it takes so much out of you. I hope she is able to get away shortly afterwards to 'lick her wounds.' The tributes to Butch were so heartwarming...he surely lived a full & interesting life. And only 70 years old...too young to die. Damn cancer!
Well on that note I will close. Good night to this sweet group of ladies I feel honored to have in my life!
Kathy
Greetings OFF Family,
Been thinking about Vickie and the Poe family today, as I believe they had Butch's viewing today. Rough, exhausting day again. I really hope she's able to rest.
Busy day for me. Lunch with a friend I worked with for nine years. She helped me get through my divorce. Great time catching up.
Then, my nephew and I went and picked up Mom. We all went for haircuts. Then, Neil and I went to a sports store that has all local pro and college sports gear. I felt like I was in heaven.
After that I ordered my favorite pizza and antipasto ever. Pizza in Michigan absolutely sucks. We don't get good take-out back there. No cheese steaks, hoagies, Philly soft pretzels, Rita's water ice, or Tastykakes. The latter is an absolute no-no, but my daughter and grandchildren miss them. Tastykakes are a snack cake, like Little Debbie, Hostess, or Drakes. They are made in Philly, and have no preservatives, and are only marketed in this region, or online. Growing up with just them, I never ate anything else pre-op.
So, everyone was here tonight for pizza, because Chris dropped by for a little while. He was on his way to his graduate school program, about 40 minutes away. While he was here, we called Colleen on his iPad on Facetime. Everyone got to see the kids and Colleen while talking. They were thrilled. Boy, do I miss my Munchkins.
Must scoot. Tomorrow, Kathy and I are going to the Jersey Shore.
Love and Hugs,

Trish,
I couldn't let your post slip by without commenting! First, sounds like you had a busy & fun day!
Your post reminded me so much of growing up in North Wilmington, DE. We enjoyed Philly cheesesteaks & subs, bought Philly soft pretzels from the middle of the street vendors selling them as well as flowers & newspapers, and of course we had Tastycakes! You really can't describe or compare them to any other cake product. Just like cheesesteaks & subs...if they aren't made local to Philly then they really aren't a real cheesesteak or sub! We used to have a feast when walking South Street WAY back in the day. And we used to vacation every year at a cottage in North Wildwood...we called it 'the shore' vs. downstate Delawareans calling the ocean 'the beach.'
And one of the things I love about going up there is the attitude! The people are a trip! And do they allow parking in the middle of busy streets anywhere else in the country?
Anyhow, I had to comment on the walk you took me on down memory lane...thanks!
Kathy
