HAPPY JULY 5TH
Good Morning All,
Just a quick note before i start my third day in box city, i.e. my garage. There arr boxes with more paper than a paper mill, some dating back to 1996. OMG, my roommate kept so much crap. So far three trips to the recycle dumpster. She is unable to handle the heat and heavy lifting so she is in the living room shredding sensitive stuff. Probably will do fivr hours today and then be able to finish up tomorrow after water aerobics. All this so the complex can replace a garage door thatvhas been dented for over five years.... oh well it did get us off the dime to get rid of stuff.
Still having to watch my back. It is so sensitive to any stess...
Thoughts go out to Vickie and Butch and Judy and her sister. Also hope and pray for health and wellbeing of body and soul for each of you.
Now for coffee.
Blessings for yoy all,
Francine
Good Morning Francine & Everyone to come!
Ugh...I hate packing, sorting & going thru stuff! I feel your pain...lol!
I swore after cleaning out my parent's home of 40+ years I would never do that to MY kids. So when we downsized 3 yrs ago to move here I got rid of as much as possible. The outcome: I am missing some of my stuff! Just can't be satisfied. Oh well...good luck, Francine!
Had a fairly quiet 4th. Went to our town parade & fireworks & was kind of disappointed. I like the marching bands/music in parades and this year they only had ONE!!! I could not believe it. They had LOADS of classic cars which are ok, but more Jim's thing than mine.
But I thought of Judy & Rick struttin' stuff today & tried to have empathy!
The fireworks finale was pretty lame, but the weather was so cool & breezy! I enjoyed sitting there just enjoying the ppl watching & being tormented by Jazz & her new selfie stick! Five bucks for the dumb thing & she is in heaven. SMH! I guess it rules over her Iphone, Ipod & other more expensive 'toys!'
No big plans today...my youngest comes over on Sundays so we hang out & do whatever our moods dictate!
Vickie, I hope all is peaceful for you today...
Will be lurking later. Hope everyone has a great day!
Kathy
Good morning Kathy...my little ray of sunshine!!
Yes...I am missing things too...who knows where they went! Guess I didn't need them very bad.
Sorry you were disappointed with the parade and fireworks. I spend more time people watching then anything. You said, they only had one band....I never heard of that before. I like the old classic cars but no****ching them for a long time...then I lose interest. WOW...you didn't even have a fireworks finale worth anything. That is disappointing!!
What is a selfie stick??? Sorry I am out of the loop right now. Maybe Gracie would like one...is she doesn't have one already.
Have a fun Sunday with your youngest child today. You are like me and my grands...we always fly by the seat of our pants...whatever suits us is what we do!!
Much love sweetie...hugs too.....connie d
Good morning Francine and OFF-
Francine feel your pain on sorting and shredding. I've got to do that with my house as I prepare to move stuff from Maine to Texas. I destroyed my mother's shredder on the most recent visit. One of the moving companies that has estimated my move is offering free shredding. May take them up on that or I may shred it myself. My mother still has paperwork going back 20 years that I have been working.
Kathy - I spent the fourth doing laundry and then had a fire in my fire pit. Burned some junk wood and watched the fireworks being set off around my lake. Managed not to get eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Judy - hope you and Rick have a great time in the parade.
Vickie- As usual you are in my thoughts today. Hugs to you and Butch. I agree with Eileen, you may have to tell Butch that its ok for him to go. If you want, I will make you a quilt of his favorite shirts for you. Just save them.
Today I have to get off my butt and start sorting and packing. I can't continue to sit in my recliner thinking about this. Also have to go to town to get some sugar to make hummer food. I swear I bought a bag of sugar during one of my trips to the grocery but I cannot find it in the house!
Hope everyone has a safe and restful Sunday after the fourth. Positive vibes going out to all of you in need. Go USA in the soccer game tonight!
Cindi
Cindy,
I have found once I sit down for longer than a half hour my motivation just seeps out of me. I have good days & unmotivated days. I have been trying for months to limit myself on the computer b/c in many ways that is my main 'time & motivation thief,' but I do everything on here from shopping, banking to socializing! Hard to break away!
That is a big move...just not geographically! Cooler weather to hot! My stepdaughter was raised in Texas in the Pasadena & Deer Park area. Then moved to S. Padre & has now settled in Houston. Trying to get down there next June for her wedding! My former sister-in-law lives in San Antonio. Most of what I remember of the one time I was there was how long it took to drive across the state! HUGE!
Kathy
Kathy-
Yes the computer chews up my time and allows me to procrastinate. I do everything on it as well also my mothers banking and shopping.
Its a big move but the right move. As much as I like the beauty of Maine and the cooler summers there is nothing here for me to do in the summer other than sit. I also don't have access to rentakids as I call them. The area where my cabins are located are sparsely populated.
Funny that your stepdaughter was raised in Pasadena and Deer Park that is near where my new house is in Anahuac. It's in the Houston area which is why I chose to buy there. It's a small town close to a wildlife refuge where I have volunteered for the past four winters. I have access to the big city things in Houston and Beaumont but the small town lifestyle of Anahuac. I can drive an hour and be at the beach.
The way the market is going up here in Maine I think I'll be back again next summer. It make take 2-3 years to sell my cabins.
Okay I'm getting off my butt and going to town to buy sugar to make hummingbird food. Then the goal is to sort through at least one box of stuff and repack it into a moving box.
Cindi
Hello Cindi....and the packing goes on...I so don't envy you!! Your home sounds like it is in a very beautiful area. I too would chose a small town and to drive a bit to the big cities. Sounds perfect to me!!! I hope you can sell the cabins soon. I understand the market is lousy right now. Don't overdo today!!
The mystery of the lost sugar...I have had that disappear on me before. You know where I found it...I went to take my trash out....it sure seemed heavy....YUP....I had thrown it away....no way would I use that after sitting in the trash a couple days! I then checked the cupboard where I usually keep the sugar to be sure I didn't put the trash in there!!
I agree...go USA in the soccer game tonight!!
I am sure Rick and Judy are having a fun day....Judy finds fun in everything!!
Have a good day/evening...love and hugs to you...connie d
Good morning Francine and everyone....
Francine....there is nothing worse then cleaning and sorting junk. I went through this recently in my storage unit. What a relief to have that done!! I was lucky...I had grandchildren that did all the work...I just supervised!!! With my two granddaughters and their guys they got through it pretty quickly. I never would have gotten it done by myself! Still it wore me out!! You be careful and don't overdo...you don't want to hurt your back....you don't want that kind of pain. Be sure you're drinking plenty of water so you don't dehydrate.
As for me... I went to bed early thinking I would get a good nights sleep...WRONG!! I was just falling asleep and my restless legs started again...I wasn't able to get them to stop until about 3:00 AM....not a happy camper! I need to get a hold of my doctor and see if she can give me anything for that. It is miserable!
I don't have anything planned today. We will be getting thunderstorms throughout the day. I won't be going out in that. I will get my walk in and maybe go out and work on the puzzle for awhile.
It sure is different around here without my little buddy Louise. She was placed in one of the memory homes about a month ago. One day she was fine, in two weeks she really failed. I have never seen anyone get that bad in such a short time. They did all kinds of testing. They said it was Alzheimer's. She always got me to go walk with her especially in the evenings. She always loved ice cream. I always kept a box of her favorite kind in my freezer. I can still hear her little tap at the door when she wanted a treat. I spent a lot of time with that lady!! I know that has a lot to do with my depression. I miss her so much!
Time for me to get a move on. Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
Prayers for our special OFF Family and their families.
Special prayers for our sweet Vickie and Butch. Vickie you are amazing and I love you very much!
Much love and many hugs to all....connie d
Connie-
Sorry to hear about your friend. You can still visit her in the memory home or is it located at another place.
I sometimes have vicious leg twitches and cramping. A friend recommended Hyland's Leg Cramp ointment. I rub it on my legs and the twitching and cramping resolves. You can get it from Vitamon Shoppe.
Cindi
Hi again Cindi...thanks for the idea of the ointment...I will check into it.
My friend is in a memory home a little way from here. I am going to try and get there soon. Some others here went to see her and said all she does is cry and doesn't want to live there. I hope I can cheer her up. They said her memory is much worse already.
HUGS....connie d
