Travel day

Dearest family,

It seems that travel day may be here. Yesterday afternoon Butch had a little rally. This often occurs 1 to 2 days before death. My sweet darling became much more alert. He was talking and smiling, joking with the nurses, offering smiles and kisses to me often. And he was hungry. He ate ice cream twice, ate a banana and a yogurt, and then he asked for a schlotski's sandwich. His sister Lisa was here to sit with him, so I went out to get him one. He ate half that sandwich!

But now he is showing the signs of imminent departure. His blood pressure has dropped and he's beginning to show "mottling" in his hands and feet. The nurses tell me that we are looking at hours. I've called the girls. Carrie is on her way from Waco. I have debated calling his brothers and sisters, but it's 4 a.m. So I will wait for now.  None of them could be here in less than 4-5 hours anyway and I would rather it just be me and the girls here now.

Please pray that my darling will slip easily from my embrace here into Jesus's arms in heaven. Know that I am holding his hands and staying right by his side during his final hours. He is not alone. He is loved. It is all up to God now. Love you all so much.

Vickie dear, I pray for you and Butch.  But you know in your heart the time is here, and Butch will be making his journey.  It has been an ordeal for the two of you, but how lucky you both have been.  Butch will be at peace, and you will start your new journey.  The Lord gave you both the time you needed to prepare for this.  Butch will pass with you by his side, loving him.  How blessed you both are.  Love to both of you.

Vickie I pray that Butch will pass peacefully and that you will have the strength you will need. I know how hard it is. Those are the signs the hospice nurses told us to watch for with my brother Butch. Saying a prayer.

Sweet Vickie,

Tears and prayers for you as you say one last good-bye to the love of your life.  Soon he will be totally healed, and in the comforting arms of the Lord.  Your faith and courage are truly amazing.  I love you both, as well as your girls.  God bless all of you.

Huge Hugs,

Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Dear sweet Vickie.....having never been in your sad situation , I can only imagine how you feel. I'm guessing you probably want your handsome, loving husband to be released from pain and disability.  Your life has been blessed by this love and for that I know you are grateful. I'm sending you a big hug and so much love.

Hoping he passes peacefully in the love of his family. He will be without pain. It will be hard on you, but know he will be out of pain and at peace. We are here for you, too.

Dear Vickie,

I pray that Butch's passage to Heaven from his messed-up world is seamless. We know where he is going, so now we need to pray for you and the girls to give you all strength to live on. You are a strong woman and will take over the helm of your family with love.

You are in my thoughts constantly, wish I could offer you my shoulder to cry on and do more than just type words on this computer.

Love to all of your family in this time of goodbyes,

Monique
