Sunday June 14th A most beautiful day here on the west coast!
on 6/14/15 6:19 am
Good morning everyone:
Congratulations on your weight loss ! Well done! And for all of us on this Board I trust that yesterday was a day of peace and joy!
Vickie, each day is a gift and with your beautiful daughters you are making them count.
Anyway the following is Loooooooooooooooooong and off topic. Sort of. Needing advice.
Have mentioned that I work in tourism in our small west coast town and we host events yada yada. Yesterday we did another one and while it was enjoyable I was flummoxed by a citizen's behaviour.
We have a very large hall that has a kitchen and part of what we had to do was to serve the usual coffee/tea/sandwiches and sweets. Having done this MANY times before we more or less have it down pat. HOWEVER yesterday: Along the bar of the kitchen which overlooked the tables where people could sit, rest and enjoy food and each other's company, we had placed plates that had a selection of sandwiches/celery etc and sweets. These were side plates not dinner ones so the idea was that each person could take a plate and be satisfied. ( this was supposed to be an event that had ' light ' refreshments, not the full-meal-deal ) A great group of air-cadets were volunteering putting the full plates out and pouring the tea etc. I was running around making sure that the rest of the event was going ok. Just after we opened a young cadet came over and said that there was a lady eating all the food. Over I go. There was a youngish lady, rail thin, dressed beautifully in bo-ho clothing, complete with heels and a hat. She looked great to be truthful. And there she was eating plate after plate after plate. By the time I got there she was on her third plate and I gawped as she ate two more. The cadets were mesmerized. So gathering myself together I asked her if she would like to sit at a table and I would bring a plate to her along with some more tea. Oh no! She was just fine thank you. Finally her husband? or whoever, came for her and she left but not after she had eaten 8 plates of food. ( the cadets had been counting! :) )
( I mean it is not as if we were running out of food at all and I could not grab the plates away or tell her: ' This is the food police! One plate each! )
And it is not as if she was wrong doing this but it was interesting. And just to be mean I bet she didn't gain an ounce!
What would YOU have done?
Enjoy your day each precious lady.

HUGSSSSSSSSSSS
Greetings Apple, and OFF,
I was AWOL yesterday for no real reason, other than that I was out all day, came home to the Phillies, who lost, and then a ton of dishes to take care of. I was barely on the laptop.
I helped Colleen with Izzy's birthday party on Friday afternoon, and evening. It was supposed to be in their backyard, but rain showers, and 60 degree temps made the party move into our church. It was just her friends from school and her brothers, so like 8 to 10 giggly, screechy girls, with two baby brothers who loved chasing them making them screech. All this while Grandma here had a killer sinus headache. Colleen had tents set up, Christmas lights strung to make it look like stars, to go with the camping theme. I made the frosting, and Colleen had me frost the cakes she baked. I also helped with a craft they did.
So, today, my precious Isabel Colleen Rockafellow turned 8 years old. I'm one proud Grandma.
I am continuing to keep Vickie, Butch, Judy's sister, Eileen, Connie, Mary's Jim all in my prayers. I hope everyone is able to have a restful day today.
Love, Hugs, and Prayers,
Trish

Hi my OFF family:
Apple, I don't know your real name ... could you provide it?
I wonder if this rail-thin woman eating all the food would go later and upchuck it. Certainly inconsiderate. I remember they had a similar setup in DeSmet, S.D., when they had the Little House on the Prairie festivals. The churches would set up dinners (because there was really nowhere to eat in that town other than two places and there would be hundreds of people coming for the outdoor plays). But you paid for the dinners so it wasn't a case of free food.
Not much going on here ... slept til 11 a.m. ... guess I needed it. Last night was busy at work but we got done by 11 p.m., which was early. Hockey game got done early and we had to sub for the Cubs-Reds game because they had a rain delay and it wouldn't get done on time. For the most part a quiet night.
Hope tonight is the same. Sundays, there's only three of us working and usually it's pretty slow.
Thinking of y'all here. Vickie, hope all is well with you and Butch and your family. Have a good day.
Greetings ladies, happy Sunday!
Spent a few hours catching up on paperwork and bills, which is a terrible way to spend a glorious Sunday! But we are pretty much stuck here at home while our new backyard she'd is installed. It was promised to happen two weeks ago, but they had problems with materials. And then it was supposed to take 4 hours - everything is prefabricated, so a small team could put it up quickly. They sent one older gentleman to put up an entire shed yesterday morning at 7am.... and we are, day 2 of the slowest shed construction ever! I feel just terrible for this guy. He is nowhere near done and has another job to go to tomorrow. But seriously it's nowhere near done at 4:20pm, and he's been working non stop since 7am. And meanwhile, we are stuck here looking at the slowest process you can imagine. We can't use the entire backyard asa this poor fellow has his materials spread out all over the place. So, we've basically done nothing for two while days. There goes the rest of our projects for the weekend! *sigh*
hopefully we won't end up with a half built eyesore.
Well anyway, I hope you're all having a nice Sunday!
Apple, thank goodness you had enough food for all including the hungry lady. There's just no telling what she was thinking. I think these little you can do, but if food was limited I would have pulled her aside after 3 helpings and started talking to her, distracting her if possible. If needed I think you would have asked her to give others a chance but again, thankfully it wasn't needed.
Ok I'm going to go off to a late church service and pray for a little shed building miracle!
Later, gaters -
Christine
