Sleepy Sunday

Hello Eileen....it sounds like you really had a busy night last night at work!! Like you said time sure can fly by!

I think some priests/pastors do drink as I have noticed that too. As long as they aren't falling down and making a fool of themselves I guess it is okay. I used to be catholi****il things in the church started changing so much. I just can't understand all the priests that have abused so many young boys. How can they stay a priest after acts like that. How dare the bishops keep that all hidden for so long. That all just can't be right with GOD. How can I put faith and trust in anyone that allows such acts? I can't...I am saddened by it all. I personally know some of these men that were children at that time. As a survivor I understand their feelings. They went through and are still going through the pain from abuse every day as I am. The reliving of that abuse never goes away!  I just wish I could understand why this went on for so many years...hidden. No one has yet given me a good answer. I have asked many people to explain it...they just can't. I pray and talk to the Lord all the time. This is just my opinion.....please no bashing.

Sorry Eileen...I got carried away. This is just a hard thing for me to just forget about. Maybe someone here can explain this to me.

I hope you got some rest before you go to work today. Maybe tonight will be an easier night.

Love  and hugs to you....connie d

Yes, Connie, I understand how you feel about the Catholic abuse scandal. The bishops and even the popes covered it up for years. And it's not about sex ... it's about control. People who are not Catholic say it's because priests are supposed to be celibate, that if they would allow priests to marry there wouldn't be abuse, but there have been similar incidents in other churches with ministers that were married ... so there you are. It's about control, not sex. And the higher-ups in the church allowed it to go on because they didn't want anyone to know priests were able to sin like normal humans.

Anyway, that's my feeling on it. I quit go to Catholic churches years ago because I didn't like the role women were given. And while I believe in a God, I don't believe in religion. It's started too many wars.

I have no explanations, unfortunately.  But I am still a practicing Catholic, for a few reasons. I know so some fantastic priests who are truly wonderful role models, and are really men of God.  When the scandal broke, they spoke with me openly about my anger and expressed their own.  They encouraged me to remain Catholic because the only way to affect change is from within.  I had to think long and hard about it, but in the end, decided to remain and to try to be a voice for change and for justice.  I'm not saying this is the right choice for everyone, but it is a short explanation of why I remain.

But believe me I respect everyone's decisions. This is an intensely personal issue and I won't debate anyone's beliefs nor their choices. Love to all!! :-)

I agree with you on this. My uncle was a good priest as far as I know. I loved him because he was my Uncle Norb, who always called me Baby Blue Eyes, even when I was 50. He gave a wonderfully short eulogy for my dad ... it was about five minutes and he wrapped it up saying "Ed wouldn't want this to be very long because he didn't like long sermons. So I'll stop now." We all laughed. He knew my dad well. There are good priests and bad priests just as there are good ministers and bad ministers. It's just not in the Catholic church. I respect everyone's decisions too.

Good evening ladies, I am bringing up the rear today! I hope you all had a lovely Sunday.  The weather here was picture perfect and I took advantage of it.  Just lovely.

Vickie, I have little to add but I wanted you to know you're in my heart and my prayers - you, Butch and your whole family. Please focus all your energy on yourself and on spending time with Butch.  We are here when you need us.

Kathy, you are a doll.  Nothing like hearing you look younger to really make your day! I sure feel younger already.  Yes I lost a lot of weight from my face and neck and I'm sleeping so much better.  I am confident my sleep apnea (which was mild) is resolved already! Thank you for the compliments. I sure hope you've taken some pictures! You've lost more weight than I have!

Mary, I have no gift for gardening at all!  But hostas - even I cannot kill a hosta! They are awesome.  Hope you enjoyed your day outside, you've earned a good day! Good for you to enjoy the fruits of your labors - the energy and ability that comes from losing weight and living healthier.

Connie, don't you dare stop gabbing!  I love your updates.  too bad there isn't a smoother ride or option to get you to the pool.  A 45 minute bus ride isn't going to help, not at all! Those storms you were having sound pretty scary to me.  Glad they are past you now.

Trish, you are so right - everyone struggles with sin, and Lord knows Catholic priests are not the only ones who struggle. But somehow Catholics are in general more of a drinking group, I am not sure why that is.

Eileen, it was quite exciting to have a triple crown winner yesterday! Since the Belmont is run right here in NY it was big news here, and probably everywhere.  Good for you for that dedication to your health. I agree with Kathy - you're quite an inspiration!

Well ladies, I have to pack my bag for another fun trip to Albany NY! Oh it's not so bad.  I miss my family and my dog but I am so grateful for an excellent job like this one. I work with nice people there, and the travel could be worse.  I don't have to leave until mid morning tomorrow, so I will touch base with you all in the morning.

Love and hugs to all!
