Wednesday.....
Good Morning Ladies......
No sleep last night; so what else is new?
Picked up Jim at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Everything seemed to be ok......but now he has an issue and will call his doctor this morning. He came out of the bathroom and seems to have a new problem with his "man tools"...... strangest thing I've ever seen. Here comes TMI... looks like a huge peach with a little nub at the top. Swollen, but not tender. Checked things out on the computer, but didn't have much luck. Might be something called a "hydrocele" which can develop if his lower body had been retaining fluids. If that's what it is, might have to be drained either with a needle (like his paracentesis) or may require a small incision. And, looks like it's something that can recur every few months, so we'll have to see if his new routine will be every few months going in for paracentesis and hydrocele drainage. Not fun for him.
I rearranged my living room Monday night. After finishing, I dozed off in my recliner. When I woke up, the clock said 7:44, so I changed the TV station to channel four expecting to catch the end of Jeopardy. Instead, it said CBS Morning News. What??? How could it be Tuesday A.M.?? No way!! Yes way!! I sat there wondering how it could be Tuesday morning already....my mind was a blank. After a while, I realized I worked well into the night rearranging furniture and then instead of dozing off for 15-20 minutes, I slept for about three hours into Tuesday morning.
Strange day yesterday. Got a message on my answering machine..."This is the U-Mass Cardiology Dept. calling to schedule an appt." So I call back and give my name and scheduled an appt. for my yearly follow-up. All set.....until I get a call a few hours later...U-Mass Cardiology Dept. calling to schedule an appt. -- I tell them I just returned their call....oops - they were calling to schedule an appt. for Jim -- who failed to tell me they wanted him to follow up because something showed up on an EKG they just did. Thanks for keeping me informed Jim. But I'll keep my appt. anyway, because when I mentioned how I feel exhausted and keep dozing off, they actually moved me from a September appt. to one this Thursday.
Enough about me already.
Vickie - I hope they get Butch's meds worked out quickly. It will be nice when he can be pain free and you don't have to be driving here and there for painful treatments. What you both need now is to spend some quiet, quality time together. You've both been through so, so much and now it's time to sit back together.
Connie - Glad you're feeling better -- it's about time!!
Judy - More surgery?? Ugh!! Health Insurance deductibles are killing me - I'm getting all sorts of collection calls. I'm supposed to have another MRI before seeing the Neuro for a follow-up visit. That deductible is $120 -- I don't want to have it done, but I'm having problems with my legs and balance. Need to use two canes to go up and down stairs, and keep walking into walls.
Jeannie -- Turkey Legs?? Yum!! When my daughter and I went to Disney World years ago I lived on those things - they were so delicious!!
Well, got to go. Time for more coffee.
Have a good day all. Prayers and good wishes!!
Good Morning Mary & other ladies who follow!
Mary, I was up too early reading your post! I know it is NOT funny, but I could have spit out my oatmeal reading about Jim's 'manly' issue. My 1st thought was I bet he seeks medical treatment now rather than continuing to avoid it b/c us women know how much our guys value their equipment...even if it's not in working order!
Sorry, but I have such a sick sense of humor!
I do truly hope he follows thru after being hospitalized. It is easier to take care of things outpatient than have to go in.
You sure did have a hell of a day. I have done that sleeping thing waking up confused, but Jazz does it every once in awhile so I don't think it's dementia!!! LOL...I think it is the result of total freakin exhaustion.
Get your rest!
Vickie, I hope to hear today that Butch's pain was more under control and you've made some headway with getting things settled so you can both get some relief. NO WONDER your tail is dragging! You both need a break. I continue praying for you!
Connie, so GLAD to hear you were feeling better yesterday! I hate to read when my friends are in pain or going thru a rough time. I hope your good spell continues endlessly! and hooray for you on the determination to walk. You go, girl!
Judy, glad to hear everything looked okay, but this ongoing issue makes me wonder if you have gotten a 2nd opinion? Or am I just not up to speed on your situation being a newcomer? that is frustrating, and co-pays & deductibles are a pain in the a**. You're not alone in getting collection calls. I had to let some medical bills go completely & am doing slow pays on others due to my early retirement/current situation til I get back to work. But I recently sat down and drafted a form letter to send all the creditors explaining my situation. it's embarrassing as I have never been in this position. But some of them have actually texted me saying to call as I won a prize! Devious practices!
Jeannie, I have had turkey legs in the freezer for several months I always intended to make, but couldn't settle on how to do them. well, this morning I put them in the crock pot w/lots of seasonings & some watered down bar-b-q sauce (sodium s not my friend) so I am anxious to see how they turn out.
Trish, you made my mouth water describing those stuffed shells. Jazz & I loved baked pastas like cheese ravioli, manicotti, stuffed shells & lasagna! How in the world do you cook/bake like that since your WLS? Does it not tempt you to go hog wild? I am realizing after allowing myself to have a 'cheat' here & there I cannot do it. I hope once I get the surgery I can not be so strict, but I suspect that is slippery thinking...like in AA thinking I can have one drink. Also, congrats on your granddaughter singing in church! I used to cry when my kids did things that made me proud...embarrassing them & myself.
I guess Christine is busy at work...hope we hear from her soon!
I know others posted, but just can't remember all altho I do think of you all.
Prayers for a great day!
Kathy
Hello Kathy...I about spit my Boost over Mary's funny post about Jim...oh my goodness!!! That was funny!! You made me laugh too over the comments you made about it!!!!!!!
I am cutting my comments short today...my cleaning fairy just left. Right before that I just got home from grocery shopping and had to put all that away. Now I am tired out. I do need to finish my walk as I had to go shopping before I finished it.
Have a good evening and try to stay out of trouble!!
Lots of love and many hugs to you...connie d
Connie,
I'll have to think twice before I ever eat a peach again...lmbo!
Grocery shopping always wears me out..the walking, the choosing...the check out line, the loading & unloading...ugh! I took 2 short naps today..it is SO gray & chilly here...but I did get 2 short walks in.
I will try, but can't promise...to stay out of trouble.
Kathy
Good Morning Mary, and OFF,
As for Jim's man parts, my older son was born with a hydrocele in his testicles. His were huge, and my husband was so proud. LOL. In his case the fluid eventually got reabsorbed into his system, and they went back to being normal size. In Jim's case, given his water fluid problem, Lord knows how they'll treat it.
Judy, I'm keeping you in my prayers concerning surgery. I know this is a huge issue for you. I understand completely.
Connie, I'm glad you feel better. Hope it just gets better.
Vickie, you continue to be in my prayers. Good for you for setting boundaries.
Must scoot. An appointment and cleaning are on my agenda for today.
Must scoot.
Love,
Trish

Good morning Mary and everyone.....
Mary.....I am so glad you finally slept even it it was a short time and an odd time. Hopefully you can get a better nights sleep tonight.
Silly girl...rearranging furniture in the middle of the night. If nothing else you had a good workout!! I hope you like it better that way!!
So Jim is home and it sounds like he may have to go back. That must have shocked him!! Men and their things!! I pray he starts following the doctor's orders from now on! That wasn't a very bright idea letting things get so bad he had to be hospitalized. Hopefully he learned something from that experience. Good thing you found out about his follow up appointment.
I am happy the clinic will get you in tomorrow. Please let us know what you find out.
As for me ..... I have a lady coming at about 11:00 to take me grocery shopping and to the bank. I am so glad for the help!! My cleaning fairy comes at 1:00...I am praying she shows up today!!! They sure do have a problem getting good help. But then...they are all looking for more help. No one wants to clean.
That is all I have planned so far. I will check in again later.
Prayers for all of our wonderful OFF Family and their families.
Have a beautiful day!!!
Lots of love and oodles of hugs to all....connie d
Ladies,
I have done something to inflame my pouch. Because I had ulcerations develop a couple of years post op and had some other issues that required all kinds of surgical intervention and other not-so-pleasant procedures, I get really scared when my pouch hurts and it is hurting so much. I've put it on rest (look at me talking about my pouch as if it is separate from me) and avoiding roughage foods, glidder foods, and greasy foods, so what I am basically eating is a little soup. I take prilosec twice a day, but today, I have been eating Tums every couple of hours because of the pain. Yesterday, I ate some cashews and later in the evening I ate watermelon so I'm thinking the roughage may have caused the inflammation. I will be extra cautious and hope the belly gets to feeling better.
I agree that the Turkey legs all cooked up with a slathering of BBQ sauce is a tasty and convenient treat. I also like turkey or chicken on a stick. LOL...
I hope Butch is getting better pain management and Vic is getting rest.
Well, I will check back later. We have more Walmartians as we lovingly call the folks who come into our town for the shareholders convention...there are thousands from all over the world. I am nice to them because when I head to KC next week for the week of AP scoring, there are thousands of us intruding on their town too...so I am nice to the visitors...even when they drive me nuts.
Ladies, have a good rest of the day....
Hello Jeannie....so sorry you are having tummy issues. You best go into the doctor's office if it not any better tomorrow. You are not getting in the protein and things you really need. I don't want you to end up in the hospital!! Prayers on the way!
YOU are nice to everyone....that is a true fact!!! Have fun with the Walmartians!!!!
BBQ Turkey legs...oh my...now I want some!! YUMMY!!
Loads of love and bunches of hugs to you....connie d
