Good Thursday Morning
I am up and getting started. I hope you all have a good day.
I am going to download the bylaws for COCMN so i can figure out what my new volunteer position involves. I think i am suppose to be working to get the names of people to run for offices next year. These days it is so challenging to get volunteers for anything, let alone hold an office.
Got to get my stretches in before my much needed coffee.
Blessings and prayers that God will fill your day with joy.
Francine
WOW Francine! Slow day here!
Congrats on the volunteer position! I know what you mean about how hard it is to get ppl to volunteer these days...when I was still working we needed them desperately due to short staffing. We never got any real responses and resorted to going thru our local colleges & recruited interns. But that involved a lot of supervision & a lot of turnover.
I am working on laundry & phone calls. Not very exciting. Jazz has her big end of the year school trip to Hershey Park so getting her packed up for tomorrow will be the focus tonite. And one last step to get our pool open...should be ready this wkend....ahhhhhhh!
Am hoping all is going well with everyone else & Vickie in particular is getting some down time between visitors, looking for a good hospice & caring for Butch.
Will check in later to see who else posts.

Hi Kathy,
Where do you live that Jazz is going to Hershey Park? Growing up outside of Philly, a lot of folks from back home either go to Hershey Park, or Dorney Park.
Hope she has fun.
Hugs,
Trish

Trish,
I figured either you lived around Philly or had grown up & moved away from the area since you are a Phillies fan! Or maybe just a rare oddball who cheers Philly teams on b/c you're afraid not to knowing their...and their fans.. reputation
Anyhow, originally I am from North Wilmington - moved to Dover in the 90's. My ex was from SW Philly so that area was my stomping/party grounds in the late 70's.
I haven't been to Hershey or Dorney Park in ages! In fact, aside from Rehoboth or Wildwood Amusement Parks the last one we went to was 6 Flags outside DC.
I know Jazz is going to have a blast. It is all she has talked about for weeks now since it has gotten closer. Gonna be pretty warm, though!
Kathy
Yes, I grew up in Levittown, Bucks County, PA. I taught in Philly for 18 years, and am a proud fan of both the Phillies and Eagles, and well aware of the Philly fans' reputations.
My niece went to college in Delaware. She earned her Bachelors in psychology from Wesley College in Delaware. She then got her Masters in forensic psychology near Washington D.C. I visited her in Delaware a few times.
A little over two years ago, I left Pennsylvania to live closer to my daughter, and grandchildren, here in Michigan. I still watch the Phillies on my AppleTV, and go to Buffalo Wild Wings to catch Eagles games that aren't televised nationally. 1
I am sure Jazz will have a blast in Hershey. Last time I was there was the summer of 2001.
Hugs.

Small world, Trish! I have been to Levittown countless times as an uncle had a beautiful spread in the country there. Lots of Amish were nearby. We used to go up there a lot as kids & young adults for picnics.
I wonder if you would teach in Philly now? I used to love the city...one of my daughters moved to the Northeast about 10 years ago, but left b/c of the crime & getting scared of some of the drivers on Roosevelt Boulevard which she needed to travel for work. It is not the 'town' I remember. My dad had relatives there & we used to love driving thru looking at the Christmas lights. Not anymore!
My whole family are Phillies, Eagles & hockey fans. My dad used to get hoarse screaming at the TV. And when they won the World Series back in 80 I think...CRAZY!
Wesley College is a couple miles from where we live. Great college! WOW...forensic psychology...right up my alley...almost!
All my girls followed me & are settled pretty close. I like that as family is important to me. However, my 2 younger girls are in their mid-30's & no prospects for another grandchild! Jazz is by my oldest, and she will not be having any more kids. So I envy you the multiple grandkids...I miss when Jazz was little & we could do all kinds of things w/her. Now her phone is her best friend! I miss little babies & young children before they start school & begin to lose that innocence inch by inch!
I have yet to get to Michigan! Everytime we traveled we went South or southwest. My dream is to do the northern route soon! One daughter lived in Montana for a couple years and still raves about it. Need to get there, too!
Hugs back!
Kathy
Yes, it is a small world. I retired from Philly five years ago, and given the recent financial crisis that school district has faced, and continues to face, I am so glad I am out of there. I had no issues with any of my students, even the ones from inner city backgrounds, or the projects. It was the lack of administrative support where discipline is concerned. One school was deplorable because of the principal, not the kids. The kids got away with everything, because there were no consequences.
I envy you having the kids close. My kids grew up, went to college, and moved all over the country. I raised them in Levittown, and they went to the same schools as their Dad and I. Colleen married Trent and moved here. Chris and his wife went to New York, as both met while performing in school, and now she is an actor, and he is a vice president of some company, doing something I don't truly know. My baby hasn't finished school yet, and he lives in Pittsburgh. I only have the three Munchkins here. Chris and Casey haven't decided if kids are in their future. He's working on a second graduate degree. Sean, in Pittsburgh, is not married, and doesn't have a decent job yet, so he had better not have any kids yet. It's a twelve hour drive from here, to Levittown. My grandchildren barely knew me before I moved here. Back then, I'd only see them a few times a year. Now, I get to see them a few times a week.
I am truly blessed.
Huggles back atcha.

Hello Kathy....laundry and phone calls that will keep you busy!! That sounds like a nice place that Jazz is going for her end of year trip. I am sure she will have fun!!
Still working on the pool ...I hope it is up and ready for you to enjoy on the weekend!! I love to swim!! I would be in a pool all the time if there was one here!
Have a good rest of the day sweetie!!!
Lots of love and hugs to you...connie d
Hi Connie!
I hate doing laundry when it is so hot & humid, but Thursday is my day...plus Jazz needed some stuff for tomorrow.
Hershey Park is where they make the candy Hershey bars...used to be one of my favorites! They have a water park as well as rides so it is a 7th grader's dream! Plus they get to ride up & back in those nice motorized coach buses.
I had hoped the pool would have been ready earlier this week, but things don't always work out like you plan. I am in it almost daily...it is just so relaxing. I am glad the fence is up to block the view of me getting in, though..lol! I hope to get to the beach a lot this summer to just sit & read by the water...I guess since I am a Pisces I am a water freak!
You enjoy your evening & try to get a good night's rest.
Kathy
Hello Francine, Kathy and everyone yet to come...
It is surely a slow day on the thread!!! But I wanted to check in and say hello. What a beautiful wish from Francine today! Thank you so much, and I pray the same for you!
Kathy, I never did get a chance to say (again) that you are doing so so so well. I know it seems like forever but September will come up soon. You'll be so happy that you've put in all this hard work now. Not only are you building great habits, but you are already losing weight. The surgery will give you that extra tool to take it all the way over the finish line!
It's a beautiful day weather wise for us here in southern NY. Warm and humid but not too oppressive. I took my laptop out to the deck so I can write to you while enjoying the breeze and listening to the birds chirp. Just lovely! We do have the A/C on as everyone else says we need it, but I get cold very quickly and easily now. I believe that's a common effect of rapid weight loss! I popped in my Walk Away the Pounds 2 mile DVD this morning and was able to not only fini**** easily, I also used weights for the strength and toning part. I had only dared to do this DVD without weight before. I am so pleased! and my knees aren't complaining at all!
I finished writing my presentation for Monday's conference so now I just have to practice it. I love doing public speaking so I am looking forward to it. However it just occurred to me this morning that I need to make sure I have something to wear, that fits well enough! I am sure I can find something but it's nice to be worried about things being too big and falling off, instead of too tight and splitting open :-)
Annnnnnnnnd, my band is performing Saturday night. Our first gig since before my surgery. I am looking forward to it - I always do, but now I have so much more energy that I really can't wait. But once again I realize... I have nothing ready to wear!!! I used to own "show clothes" - things that I wouldn't wear on the street but that were appropriate for the lead singer of a rock band. Well, those clothes are all at Salvation Army now, and I'm not going to buy something to wear once so - it looks like I will just throw on a plain T shirt and the one pair of jeans that fit, with some big earrings. Maybe this will become my new "show attire." LOL!!! I love these little joys of WLS!!!
OK Ladies, I will definitely come back again later in hopes of catching up with more of you.
Ta ta for now -
Christine
