Hello Judy...Happy Memorial Day to you too!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

I shouldn't laugh but I can't help myself. Rick's Aunt got a citation....YAY!!!! I am so glad they reported her. She should not have been driving at all drinking like she was. I wish they would have caught her driving. She needs that to learn a lesson. I am surprised Rick let his mom ride with her in that condition.

I do hope you got your flowers planted before it rained. This is day four of rain here. I need sunshine!!!

You are not a weakling!! Have you always felt weak? I noticed once I got Fibro I lost a lot of upper body strength. My doctor said that is not unusual for Fibro patients. What do you think?

Love you much...hugs....connie d

Connie Rick's mom was the one driving home from HERE....his aunt drove her car from his mom's to her place. When she backed out of the driveway that is when she hit the car...LOL. I asked Rick's mom how come she let Peggy drink while she drove home and she said she was drinking water...I told her she poured BEER into that glass!!!  OMG was she mad!!!!!!!!

No flowers planted...YET!!!!!!!!!! Only got the new wood cut for the place around the flag pole...SIGHS...........guess we will never get them planted!!!! I am getting MAD!!!!!!!! The ground is HARD AS A ROCK that is why I need Rick's help!!! Otherwise I would be able to do this alone!!!!!

Well I do not have fibro after all...seems it was just that job I had when I worked at BJ's food court and had all those backstabbers. After I left there all my pain left. Except my uncle Arthur that is. Wish you could get a good chiro and have them help that for you....

Its getting windy here now and sounds like tomorrow we could have some really nasty storms!!!

Love you too!!!! HUGSSSSSSSSSSSS

Good morning and happy Memorial Day!

Like Francine, I am giving thanks today for those who gave their lives for our freedoms!!!

It’s a lovely day here in NY.  We bought a new grill -- one that works - and we are planning to grill up some turkey burgers and veggies this afternoon.  Probably a few hot dogs for Matt and Cassie too. It is supposed to get warm this afternoon and I have nothing summer-like to wear.  I am going to go through the last of my stored clothes and hope for a mini-miracle.  Or at least, an article of clothing that is small enough to cover me.  Everything sleeveless I’ve put on has arm holes that go almost to my waist! And the bathing suits don’t stay up.  Though the pound loss (on the scale) doesn’t seem THAT dramatic I’ve lost many sizes now.  I really think I still have some stuff in there that was too small last summer, and that will get me through the next few weeks.

Please note:  I AM NOT COMPLAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m shocked and thrilled by this!!!!

Francine, it's lovely that you and Claire have been honoring those in your family and friends who gave their all for our country and for all of us.  God bless you for keeping that tradition going.

Judy, my father was such a severe alcoholic that I really never knew him sober until he went to AA and got sober.  I was 17 and a Junior in HS when I first saw my father when he was not drunk or hungover.  When drunk, my Dad was abusive to me in every way;  I was youngest and the only kid left in the house, and he would tell me it was either me or my mother.  I would do anything for my mother including taking his wrath… through he threatened much harm, my father never touched my mother. Anyway, I happen to think we all deserve life partners (spouses, whatever) who are both sober and who treat us like the Queens we are!

Trish, congrats on the successful bake sale!  And you were rewarded with your neighbor and that riding mower!  Thank you for sharing a piece of your recovery story.  I have so much respect for you and your sobriety.  My father tried AA many times in my childhood, but it took my mother divorcing him to push him to really stick it out.  Once sober, my father was a very different man.  As I was the only kid still around when my mother remarried him, I was forced to get to know him. As a result I have some good memories, and I’m glad of that. It took me many years to trust my father, but Al-Anon enabled me to develop recovery strategies of my own, and I was able to make peace with my father, my childhood, and all my repressed memories.

Ladies, if you or anyone in your life is around, or was around, an addict or alcoholic and needs some help understanding, adjusting, coping, etc. I can’t recommend Al-Anon highly enough. The Al-Anon program literally saved my life;  I may not be alive today, and certainly wouldn’t be where I am today, were it not for that program.

Anyway….

Connie - oh, it sounds like so much fun to join Carrie and Greg at the lake!  You could do some swimming, see Gracie, etc.  I hope you will take them up on their offer at some point.  How did your chicken thighs turn out?  Last time I tried them in a crook pot, they were heavenly! I had so many left overs that I had to freeze them, even with a family to help eat it!

Eileen - glad to know there is more distance between you and “he who shall not be named.”  Please do follow through on Jennifer’s advice, and keep the process of eviction and order of protection going.

Jennifer - so sorry you had to cancel out of the BBQ, it sounded fun!  I think you should just keep looking for a Gastroenterologist who will guarantee you’ll be under GA.  Don’t risk that sort of pain!

So, ok girls, this is an epic length post so I will leave it here for now.  My love and prayers to Vickie, Mary, Carla, Kathy, Yvonne, Jeannie, and everyone out there who is reading along.  I'll be back later to catch up when more of you have posted.

Hugs

Christine

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day Christine....we all are so thankful for those who have given us our freedom!

I giggled over your quest to find something small enough to fit!! I always loved that part of weight loss!! Remember when it was the opposite way....all too small!!! Congrats to you!!!

I went to Al-Anon because of a dear friend that was battling so hard to quit drinking. She finally joined AA and is just the sweetest person I know.

Thank you for sharing your story.  I appreciate your honesty.

I made turkey thighs and they were wonderful!! I love turkey and always have! This was nice for a change!! I love chicken thighs in the Crock Pot too!  Aw heck I like most everything in there....easy clean up too. "Pintrest" has so many Crock Pot recipes. I use them a lot!

Have a good day!!!

Lots of love and hugs to you....connie d

Oh yeah, the protective process will proceed. Just in case he decides to come back. Can't see why he would, but I'm taking no chances.

Good Morning Ladies!

Like Francine & Christine...wishes for a great Memorial Day & a moment of silence for all those who served!

Attended a graduation/Memorial day cook-out at my sister's yesterday. My brother's son graduated with a degree in computer science & my sister's son's fiancé graduated from med school. We enjoyed toasting & roasting yesterday as is our family tradition.

I found the topic of alcoholism interesting...many of us appear to have been touched by this disease. I got my degree in Human Services with my certification in Addictions Counseling partly b/c I wanted to help those who had gone thru or were going thru what I had. My 1st husband was a nasty alcoholic who was violent & sadistic, and my 3 daughters still have issues to this day! 1 of the indirect reasons we are raising Jasmyn by my oldest daughter. My mom drank heavily, but she did not exhibit any of the typical behaviors associated with alcoholism. I was fortunate I did not suffer the abuse you went thru Christine...from her, anyhow.

I became very involved in Al-Anon & it was a lifesaver for me, too. That program & a good therapist helped me leave my 1st husband...even tho he had gotten sober our last year together he still had a lot of nasty behaviors! I have nothing but respect for those like Trish who have recovered...I count many alcoholics & addicts as my friends!

Christine, that is great about the clothing b/c in time you will be in the smaller sizes across the board. Even at my 40 pound loss I am finding some stuff baggie, but that is okay. Means we are doing what we are supposed to do!

Sorry to hear about the IBS issue. I used to have colitis when married to the abuser, but it cleared up after we split. I always seemed to wake up the last 10 minutes of my colonoscopies & altho not painful even w/the twilight anesthesia would be thinking: 'WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET OUT OF THERE?' I hope you can find a good doctor who will put you under & find the problem & solution.

I am really dragging this morning & am tempted to go back to bed for a nap. We have no plans so I may just do that.

Hope all is well with Vickie & Butch, that Connie comes along shortly, Judy gets her flowers in, Eileen get her gas under control (LMBO), and everyone else has a good day.

Hello Kathy....Happy Memorial Day to you!

It sounds like yesterday was fun getting together with family.

Congrats to both the graduates!!

It seems we all have been touched by alcoholic's  at some point in our lives. I am saddened by those who were traumatized because of it. Many on here know I was traumatized as a child by something almost worse. I was sexually abused by my older brother from when  was very young until I was about 9 years old. So yes...I do understand the trauma of these things happening.  I am so so sorry that your three daughters have issues because of their father.

LOL....When Are You Going To Get Out Of There? You always make me laugh!!

Enjoy your day...relax and do nothing at all if that is your choice. A great day to lay back and do just that!

Time to get my walk in...see you later!!

Lots of love and hugs to you...connie d

Good morning Francine and everyone....

Francine ...it sounds like you are having a lovely weekend. Taking time to honor our country and family and friends is important.  I just finished all my prayers as well. Special prayers always to our troops (heroes) that keep us safe and free. Including all the troops before them as well. We can not forget all they have done for our freedom. God Bless America!!! God Bless our Troops!

I hope you and Claire have a peaceful and relaxing day today.

Thank you for starting the thread. It is always so nice to see you first thing in the day!

As for me....I had to laugh a moment when I was finishing my prayers today....they just seem to be getting longer all the time!!! I thanked GOD for his patience with me!! I love my morning readings and time with GOD. I always feel so peaceful as I pray and give thanks.

I as usual don't have anything planned for today. It is raining again so I am hurting. I hope the sky clears up soon.

I will check in again later to see more posts. I love you all and thank you for always being here for me.

Prayers for our loving OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for Vickie and Butch. They are always on my mind.

Loads of love and bunches of hugs to all.....connie d
