Good Morning....it is Thursday.....so what's new today??

Good morning everyone....I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't go back asleep...I hate when that happens. I feel rested but wide awake.

I am looking forward to doing nothing today. I have had so much going on the last three days I need a break!

I am not sure if I mentioned this or not.....my sweet little friend Louise is having such a hard time. In the last three weeks she is just not eating and very, very confused. She has lost a lot of weight. She is well under 100 pounds. She lives across the hall from me. Sunday I spent the evening with her. It was time for her to go to bed. I made sure she had everything. She keeps forgetting how to lock her door. She will come to me 3 or 4 times a night to show her how to lock her door. Anyway late Sunday night she fell in her apartment. The lady below heard her banging on the floor and came up to check it out. Of course an ambulance was called. They took her to the hospital. Her son said she won't be coming back here. He will need to put her somewhere so she can have constant supervision. He doesn't know where yet as they are waiting for an opening. This has really been bothering me. She always came to me for help. It just doesn't feel right without her here. When I moved here she was so friendly and helpful. My Gracie and Louise were best buddies. Gracie would see Louise down the hall and would just run to her. That made Louise feel so good!!

Then yesterday I heard that Monica has passed away. She lived here just down the hall from me. She was adored by everyone. I used to always get my mail and leave time to sit with her awhile. She was always on the couch near the mail boxes. She told some crazy stores...she made us all laugh!! She would sing in Polish...then she would sing the same song in English so we knew what she was singing. She got so forgetful that her family had to put her in a special care facility for Alzheimer. We all missed her so much. What a beautiful lady she was!!! I know she is with GOD now and that is comforting.

This is definitely a downfall to living in Senior Housing!!

I am just going to do what ever trips my trigger today...not planning anything other then my walk.

I will check back in later. Have a great day everyone.

Prayers for our wonderful OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for Butch and Vickie, also for Eileen.

Lots of love and oodles of hugs to all....connie d

Connie,

One of my dearest friends lives in retirement community and she is my age and really doesn't need any assistance but she likes the security of being in a gated community that also has a clinic there.  Anyway, she says the same thing about how sad it is to see some of the older folks going downhill so quickly.

Today we are having tornado warnings and at the same time we are having a film festival with famous folks here who haven't been in tornado alley and don't know what to make of all the strong winds...Robert Denero and Gina Davis and Rosie Odonnel are here and are doing a baseball thing at our minor league field....but we are under tornado watch and right now the wind is blowing so hard the trees are bending almost to the ground...also lightening is so close that when the thunder follows, it shakes the buildings.....I hope they are not too frightened. LOL.

Well, I am at work and need to meet with a couple of graduate students who are not doing well in my research and critical writing course....yep...I think they waited a little too long to contact me.    The good thing about graduate students is I can give them an incomplete and give them a few more weeks to finish my class....they will be relieved when I tell them the good news....I could have told them yesterday, but the dean and I have a formula for making sure the behavior of procrastinating ends:  wait until the very last minute plus no contact with the professor equals letting you stress for a week before telling you that we can give you time....it's mean, I know. LOL

I hope you all have a great day...my students are on the way in so let me put on my doctor ***** face and give them the talking to and then listen to them thank me from the bottom of their hearts....

check in later.

Hello Jeannie....it is amazing how fast these people change. In a matter of a couple weeks they go from laughing and happy to almost nothing. I have seen it so many times here. But I really love it here and have fun with these people. So I will do my best to let them know how much I care. I too like that this is a secure place to live. I never worry for a minute.

Tornado alley huh? Hang on to your hat sweetie!! Are those people really there to do a baseball thing...I can't tell if you are joking or not!

I think you and the dean have agreed on a perfect way to handle those procrastinators That made me laugh!! They can sit there and simmer awhile!!

Doctor ***** Face...I want to see that look....LOL!!

I love you professor...lots of hugs too...connie d

Connie,

They are all here for the film festival, but Rosie and Genna Davis are going to do some tribute to the movie they played in A league of their own....So, from what I read, they will have a group of women stars who will play a game at our minor league field...and Denero is doing something about his recent film....there are hundreds of stars coming and apparently they are all doing very important things...There will a lot of films being shown all over town...I am not attending any of the events because of me not wanting to pay so much money...you know.

Jeannie...I would be staying as far away from that crowd myself. I would love to see them, but I will just rely on news and magazines!! I remember the movie very well. It was great!

Bedtime for me. I don't know why am so wide awake. I was up at 3:30 AM. It is going on midnight now.

Hope you have a good night's sleep...love and hugs...connie d

Good Morning Connie and OFF,

Oh Sweetie, I am so sorry that you are losing such sweet friends.  It sucks when age steals our loved ones' minds and bodies.  It is one of those sad, inevitable facts of life.  We believe that God is in control, and I take comfort that He loves us, and hopefully we believe our loved ones are in a better place with them.  Yet, we miss them.  I am so glad your faith helps comfort you, as it does me.

I missed an appointment for a pedicure because I forgot to set my alarm clock.  Woke up at the exact time I was supposed to be there.  Argh!  So, I called, apologized, and rescheduled.  Since the earliest they can get me in isn't for another week, I'm going to check out a different place right after my appointment with the doctor's office for a check on my PT/INR.  I was off my Coumadin for a week coz I had dental work last week.  I have to get checked.

When I get home, I have some chores here.  I'm feeling so much better where my sinuses are concerned.  I also have to get my lawn mower working, and cut the grass.

Must scoot.  Prayers for everyone.  I love all of you, and really appreciate how genuine and caring you all are.

Tons of hugs for everyone,

Trish

Good morning Trish....yes it is something how fast their life slips away. There was a man that lived at the end of my hall. Others said he was an old grump. I asked them if they every stopped and talked to him? They said he doesn't talk to anyone. I talked to him almost every day. We always got our mail at the same time. He would tell me war stories, facts of his life and complain about the mail and how everyone wanted his money all the time. He loved to talk about his family. Some people just need to be nudged a bit to get them to trust you. Then...they talk your ear off...LOL. He really was fascinating to listen too. He was here one day and then he was gone. They said he couldn't stay alone anymore. He went to a nursing home and died in a couple days. I am thankful to have known him like I did.

I hope you get your pedicure done...sorry you missed your appointment. I think the sleep was more important.

I said a little prayer that your doctor appointment goes well.

Please if you go out to mow the lawn, wear a face mask. Your sinus issue is better and I hope you can keep it that way!!

Of course we care about you silly. We are all great friends on OFF!!! Where else can you go and know you can say anything you want and no one will judge you? This is a very special group for sure!!

Much love and oodles of hugs to you.....connie d

Good morning Connie and all you lovely ladies,

it's hard to believe it's Thursday already.  Holy smokes!

Connie, i am so sorry about your losses.  Living in senior housing can be great, but also sad when these things happen.  I hope you get a new and lovely neighbor - it won't be the same but maybe it will help.  I also woke up at 3:40 this morning and just couldn't get back to sleep.  I hope to get a chance to nap a bit as tonight I have rehearsal with my band.  I need to be awake and alert for that!

Jeannie, i think you're mean at all! It's the best way to handle procrastinators, I think. My stepdaughter is graduating (undergrad) next week and is a terrible procrastinator.  I have been asking her over and over, did you turn in those papers? Did you complete all those assignments?  I know she won't get that opportunity so I ask her every day, poor kid. But it looks like she will make it and graduate, thank heavens for that! And keep an eye on the skies today - stay safe!

Trish, sorry you missed your appointment, but you must have needed that extra sleep. I hope that your sinuses stay manageable today!

JUdy, good luck today!

some fun news on my side today.  I am officially at my lowest weight in 10 years!  I'm at my wedding day weight today. I'm so excited!  And it's all "downhill" from here - in a good way of course.

Well ladies I am working from home but am very busy, so will dash for now.  Hope to catch you later.  Love and prayers to all, especially Butch, Vickie, And Eileen!

Hello Christine...I know I can hardly believe it is Thursday already. Time is speeding by!!!!

I hated waking up before 4 AM...I am sure you didn't like it any better. It was a beautiful morning watching the day unfold.

Yes, someone new will move in and then they will be new friends. The director of this place is very careful about selecting people for each area that will be well suited together. I think that is really a nice thing to do.

Congrats on making that goal!!!  Doesn't it just feel wonderful? You better hang on tight...it really is a wild ride!!

Lots of love and many hugs to you....connie d

Thanks! I didn't expect to see this weight until mid to late SUMMER.  I had no idea how wild this ride would become, but I am loving it.

Sending HUGS and light to you!!
