Good Morning Ladies.....

YABBAA-DABBAA-DOOOO!!!!  I guess my scale isn't broken-- it actually moved....DOWN!!!  I have been so disapointed with myself lately because I've been having problems staying on track. Well, the tide has turned, at last.  Down six pounds.  Now, I've got to stick to it and keep the ball rolling.  Next time Maura comes over I'll have her take a picture so I can update my avatar/ticker.  Doing the happy dance!

It's going to be another beautiful day - more yard work for me.

Christine - Don't get down because you haven't bounced right back after surgery.  Give yourself some time to heal.  You'll be up and about soon enough.  Don't beat yourself up.  And, congratulations on your big loss!

Eileen - you are such a good friend to Richard - he should kiss your boots instead of complaining.  But, I guess if he's not on his meds he can't help himself.  Just be sure to take care of yourself.

Carla - Sorry you're missing Vinnie so much.  Glad you're going to have a visit - and 12 days is enough time for a good visit.

Judy - You are sssooo busy girl!!  Hope this "rental rush" is over soon so you can catch your breath.  Saying prayers for you and your sister.

Vickie - Glad your day ended up well - hopefully you and Butch can get some quiet time together and have a rest.  Sending more prayers for both of you.

Trish - Tick Tock, Tick Tock.....got those taxes done?  One good thing about being "low income" -- I don't have to deal with doing taxes anymore!

Connie - Hope you're up and about.  Dealing with prescriptions for pain meds is getting to be such a hassle.  I had to make a trip into the City yesterday to pick up my prescription.  My old PCP used to write me two prescriptions at a time, dating one for the following month, so I wouldn't have to make the trip every month.  But my current PCP goes strictly by the book.  At least he is writing the prescription again. For a while he insisted that I go to a pain clinic to get the prescriptions and that was an absolute nightmare.  The place was a zoo-- every visit would take 3-4 hours.  The place got closed down by the State, so my PCP is writing the scripts again, but he's trying to wean me off the methadone.  Well, my pain isn't going to disappear; I don't know what he plans to do.

Jennifer, Arlene and Lightswitch - hope you are all doing well; keep us posted with what's happening with you.

Prayers and Good Wishes to all !!

Good Morning Mary and OFF,

Congrats on the weight loss.  Sorry the pain Rx is a hassle.  I have similar issues with my pain docs.

I took a week off from my Thrive, coz I was so sick last week.  I'm going start again tomorrow.

Today is the last meeting for my Ladies Bible Study.  I need to pick up a snack for our last time together.  Not sure what I'm getting.  I was thinking of a fruit tray, if I can get one.  I need to finish the last chapter of the book.

I got my taxes done, I just need to electronically file them.  I owe Michigan, but am getting a refund from federal.  Too bad they're not identical.  Federal is less than Michigan.  Go figure.

Praying for everyone.

Love and Hugs,

Trish

Hello Trish....so how is Thrive working for you? My doctor has my sample packet. She hadn't heard of it and wants to research it. She already told me I am not to take it. I hope you have good results.

As fruit tray sounds like a great idea for your Bible Study group. Even grapes and cut up apples and oranges....any kind of finger food. I hope you got the last chapter read!!

YAY...you have your taxes done!! That is a big load off your mind. Any kind of refund is better then none!

Have a good day....much love and hugs....connie d

Good morning Mary and everyone.....

Mary....I am glad your scale is moving again!!!!  I am so glad you are getting back on track....good job!!!!

You are back to yard work again...that will be good exercise!! Enjoy the beautiful weather(at least it is beautiful here)!!

As for me....I am up and about....kind of spacey....but I will be okay.....that is just from the Vicodin.

I did almost everything I needed to do yesterday. I still need to make a another phone call. Not sure what else I will be doing today. I still need to get in the shower. I wanted to eat my breakfast and check on here first. My doctor insists I eat breakfast. That has never been easy for me to do. I am not a morning eater. I need to get in protein and she wants most of it solid food. I am to get in 30 grams before 10 AM. She said that is when my body will start speeding up my metabolism. Okay...I am really working on this. I need to  be on the computer so I don't pay attention to eating! If I don't think about it I can do it.

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!!

Prayers for our lovely OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for those in need.

Loads of love and Bunches of hugs to all...connie d

Hi Connie,

I understand about not liking to eat breakfast.  I tend to not eat breakfast food for breakfast most days.  I prefer leftovers, especially Chinese if it's in the house.  Kind of weird, but my sis-in-law is a lot like me in that.  About once a week I'll have eggs, or an omelette, but more days than not it's leftovers.

I have to get my car to the garage for an oil change.  I'll read my chapter then.  I got the dishwasher loaded, and my hair done, so I'm ready to head out the door.

Love you.

Hello Trish...yes I could eat leftovers. When I cook I usually make only enough for two small meals. One I will eat tonight and the rest is for tomorrow for dinner. I get my lunch from the dining room most days but not always. If I don't then I just make easy things for lunch like lettuce and turkey rollups. I add some kind of veggie too. Or I make a small chef salad, I use spinach for that, turkey breast, cheese and tons of veggies!!  Eat a lot of chicken, turkey, fish, or seafood for dinner and a veggie. I just don't make large potions. I do better if I don't have a lot of leftover food on hand. I do have meals I made in my freezer so I always have that too. I always make sure I have a lot of veggies cleaned and ready to eat, the same for fruit. I just cleaned three pounds of strawberries and a pound and a half of raspberries and sliced up a couple avocado's. Tomorrow I hope to get some blueberries. They were out when I was there last. I always make sure I get in my fruits and veggies every day. They are my snack food. Portion control of course....LOL!   Anyway now you know why I don't have much for leftovers. I would be too tempted to eat it all!!!!!

Love and more hugs to you.....connie d

hi ladies, happy Tuesday!

All's well on my side. My infection continues to improve, and I'm keeping my protein and water numbers up;  in fact i managed to squeeze in an extra dose of protein shake yesterday bringing me to 66g total. I don't mean to complain, because we know it's part of the process... but dear Lord I'm tired of these shakes. I long for something I can chew, something savory. You've all been there and I too will survive!  In fact, I started referring to my shakes as battle rations - like the stuff deployed soldiers get.  Edible, not exactly enjoyable, but necessary for survival.  For me the protein is required for healing, recovery, and metabolism;  I don't have to like it, I just have to consume it.  Three times daily. And so this is what I'm doing.

Oh by the way 5 more days to pureed stage.

Though I really want to use my stationary bike for exercise, i understand why my surgeon asked me to walk instead; I do want my stomach and incisions to heal so I will be a good girl and keep on walking, bad knees be darned.  I am only doing a short 10 minute loop near my house right now, and walk it twice daily.  I will add to that as I feel stronger.  I hope to get up to 30 minutes a day by the time I see my surgeon next week - that's the goal!

Mary, you are so upbeat about all your challenges! Way to go on your loss and on getting back to basics.  Great job! And thank you for all the encouragement.  It means a lot.

Connie, I love breakfast but so many can't stand it. Like Trish, I prefer savory foods and even leftovers at breakfast.  distract yourself if thats what you need to do to get some food in. My husband struggles to keep weight on (now isn't that a cruel irony) and one of his tricks is to put an egg and some cheese in a bowl of hot grits, and stir while the egg cooks right in the grits. I know the grits are high carb too but I thought I would pass the idea on anyway.

Trish, as you know I'm not really hungry at this point but my family had Chinese the other night. We still have leftovers in the fridge. Before this journey I would have already consumed them, for breakfast or just as a passing snack, whatever! But I guess they will have to learn to order only what they will enjoy as those days of mindless eating are over for me.

OK girls I just woke up from a short nap and have a few things to do before the house turns back into mayhem when everyone gets back!  Hugs and prayers to everyone.

Christine

Hello Christine...I am so glad that the infection is improving every day!!!!

WOW...girl...you are doing great getting that protein in!! That is so good!! Battle Rations...LOL!!! I remember those days! How is the water coming along? FIVE more days and you are on to the next step......you can do this!!!

I am glad you are holding off on your exercise bike right now. Walking is good for you. You will be clocking in more time soon!!

I use to love grits....those sound good. I just don't eat them anymore...the carbs...not good!!

My breakfast is pretty simple....I drink a protein drink while I am getting read for the day. Then I eat a greek yogurt with a couple spoons of Kashi Go Lean cereal in it. I also have a hard boiled egg or string cheese depending on which I think I can handle that day! That is the amount of protein my doctor wants me to have each morning. Boring I know but it is working for me.

Love and lots of hugs to you....connie d

Hi Mary and my OFF family:

I'm trying hard not to take a nap, but I think after I post, I will take one. I was up at 8 a.m. , went to the Y, did the arthritis workout, then ran some quick errands. One was to drop my vicodin prescription off at Walgreens. I wanted to go through the drive-thru but it was backed up, so I went in the store. Probably was better; I needed to show my new insurance card.

Came home and had lunch, played around on the computer. Now I'm getting very sleepy. Nothing else today. Only another day left of vacation. It's been a nice lazy vacation.

Don't remember a thing anyone posted, sorry. My mind is on vacation, too, as usual. Have a good day.

Hello Eileen...I am glad you were able to get your Vicodin today. I need to contact my doctor as I only have 2 left. I may have to take one tonight. How are you feeling with your knee pain and Fibromyalgia? I hope the pain isn't too bad.

Good for you going to the YMCA. That will help your arthritis and fibro. I continue to just do my walking. There are days it is much harder to do then others. We just have to keep plugging along with whatever we do!!

I am so glad you are having a nice lazy vacation. You certainly deserve that!! Enjoy your last day off tomorrow!!

Love and more hugs....connie d
