Hey Connie, Vic, Judy, Carla, Eileen, and anyone that I haven't mentioned:

Last night, I met with two old elementary school friends and we had a nice evening of identifying those who have died, those who are in jail, those *****ally messed up, and those who were successful.  I didn't go to the last reunion of my elementary school chums because my mother died when I was very young and I moved in with my older sister and her family a town or two away and ultimately graduated from a different high school.   But, at the reunion last year, my friends tell me that they had an announcement of my academic success and publication successes.  I didn't have any idea that anyone outside of composition studies had a clue about what I was doing. LOL.

It was nice sitting there and listening to the old stories.  I ordered a vegetarian spring roll and noticed that the other two guys were also ordering appetizers and found out that both my old friends had had WLS.   How much fun was that so the conversation turned to WLS after 45.   The guy who was there has gained about fifty pounds back and the other female has gained about 40 back...I have gained back some of the original amount of weight but I did get down so low that they were tube feeding me and it was all complications of the surgery.   But, since I have hurt my knee and have not been running, I've gained fifteen pounds and am now working toward getting that off.   John, the guy, offered to come up once a week to do the dance lessons with me but I said, no, that I think I have my old partner as soon as I am ready.   I think John wants to take ball room dancing but doesn't have a partner so maybe he will find someone.   That would be good.

I was going to make me another outfit this weekend (pants, shirt, and jacket) to wear to the conference in Tampa, but the kids wanted to make some things, so they have been sewing, and we've been reading.   I guess it won't hurt to wear something that I have already worn. LOL.   Maybe, I can get something made this next week.

Judy, I was so sorry to hear about all the deaths. You're right, sometimes it comes in pairs or threes.   A couple of years ago, my uncles died 24 hours from each other and a week later, my dear brother died.   My two uncles were cremated and their ashes buried near our grandparents' grave but my brother was buried in TX, so we all headed to Hereford, the armpit of the world, and spent a week helping my sweet sister in law get every thing done.  She has Alzheimer and her kids help but my sisters and I got everything done...we are that kind of family.

I told my husband, if I die before he does, cremate me and put my ashes in one of those composting pots with a little tree in it and plant me on my daughter's farm.   No fuss, no muss..

Vic, I really hope  you are able to get Butch's pain under control; I know this must be hurting you so much.  I don't envy your move but I do envy your buying the house.  Good for you.   You have to get all of that ready and get in a place where you can be in town and near family.   Boundaries will need to be set but it will be so good to have the kids close enough that they can walk over...when they are older. Also, I really hope your shoulder is getting better.   You might have torn your rotator cuff...

Connie, bless your heart.  I know you are hurting so much and wish there was something I could do to help you get through this.   Pain is no friend nor no stranger to so many of us.

Eileen, I hope your knee is doing better.

Well, DH is watching some awful fix up old house show and I hate watching this kind of stuff but he so rarely hogs the TV with anything that really bores me so I am suffering in silence as they talk about stripping floors and re doing stairs.   He keeps telling me if we buy a house with stairs, he will put in an elevator...I keep saying, okay...whatever you want...I am okay.

You guys have a good day and I hope those who are cold, you will have warmth and sunshine in the coming week; those who are in pain, I hope you have relief; those who are struggling with your eating, I hope you find the place where you can eat less; and those of you who are sad and feeling alone, I hope you reach out to one or all of us.    Isn't that what makes this forum so much more than the others?

Hello Jeannie...how wonderful that you enjoyed the time you spent with your classmates. That was quite an honor that they mentioned you at last years class reunion. See people do care and more so then you knew!! You do have many successes to be proud of!!

I am sure you have plenty to wear while in Tampa. The conference will be a great time!! It is always nice to see old friends. I can't imagine you not having fun wherever you went!!

I felt good when I woke up this morning. I went for my walks and then I hit the wall. Now my legs feel like rubber!! I am in a little less pain today and that is good. I haven't had to take my strong pain relievers yet...that is wonderful.

Have a great evening...much love and many hugs....connie d

My OFF friends,

You all have so much going on. You are all in my prayers. I wish each of you an abundance of God's grace as it seems we are all in need of it.

I have been nursing my back after falling a week ago Monday.  I simply lost my balance while reaching for the auto door open button at the gym. Had to have the squad come and get me up. With two knee replacements and two bad shoulders i was afraid to let the staff there do it. My hip i landed on hurt for a couple days. My back (which has had problems for years )was another story. I have finally gt it under enough control to start back to the gym for both land and water work (had cut back to water aerobics ).

Friday i got great gift. The water aerobics instructor who works outib the gym the same time i do has offered to start walking with me on the track with my using just a cane. Walkng independently has always been my goal. I do a little of that walking around the house where i can hold on to the walls. And, she also has been losing weight and is about my height.  She is getting rid of a bunch of her clothes and offered them to me to try and give what doesn't fit to charity. I am in disparate need of workout close so i m hoping this will allow me to get some at no cost.

Speaking of clothes. Over the past few months i have made a killing at the Close Out section of a local grocery.  They carry a lot of Target stuff. I found two bras identical to one's I have paid $20 plus dollars for at Marc's for $2.99 each. Two Target sweatshirts for 3.99 each  (looked up online and they  were $20 each ). And the last thing, a windbreaker jacket with a lightweight lining (priced online for $25) i got for $4.95. All i can say is, God is very good to me.

I hope your Sunday and all the rest of the days this week go well.

Blessings

Hi Francine....so good to see you posting today! You have two posts as well....LOL!!! We have gremlins on this site. I am either losing posts entirely or they post twice....crazy!!

First of all thank you for the prayers....we all need them!

I am so sorry to know you hurt yourself falling. That is always one of our greatest fears!! I am happy you didn't break anything. However, you sure were bruised up!!!

YAY...you will get a chance to walk independently with an instructor. That is so wonderful!!  I hope she has some workout clothes that will work for you!!

You scored big getting all those bargains on bras and sweatshirts and a windbreaker!! I am glad you did that for yourself! You are so sweet and deserve a break once in awhile!!

I am working on losing weight too. I am just eating healthier. Kind of like back to basics. Last week I was down 5 pounds. Tomorrow I weigh in again...I pray I lost some more. I walk twice a day for a total of 3 miles. I do that every day. I really have to push someday's. I still have to use my walker. I am trying to get the strength back in my legs. My doctor said I can walk in my apartment with my cane, but only if I feel balanced. If I am weak or wobbly then the walker gets pulled out again. Like you with the cane, I still touch the furniture or the walls. I don't want to fall.

I hope you have a good evening. I am glad you stopped in today!! Sending prayers!!

Love and many hugs to you....connie d
