Rise and Shine Tuesday!
Good morning sistas!
I wish the sun would rise and shine around here again! I have lost track of the number of rainy cold days we have had lately. This month of March is certainly coming in like a lion. Ugh.
I am THRIVING again today. I have to tell y'all: yesterday (Day One on Thrive) was really good! The sweetest thing I ate all day was our oatmeal at the beginning of the day. I actually went an entire day without eating junk food!!! I even went to the grocery store at 5:30 p.m., and I wasn't starving and I didn't buy chips and candy and cookies, etc., AND I got out of there for less than $100! Wow!
I was a bit afraid I wouldn't sleep last night, but it didn't bother me at all. I did wake up at 5 a.m., and I feel perfectly fine. Just ready to get up.
Well, yesterday we went to look at that house and I liked it very much. Very Much. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath and fairly new. Only 10 years old. It has a lot of high end finishes that I love. Really pretty light fixtures and rubbed bronze faucets, etc. Lots of pretty wainscoting and high ceilings. They obviously spent some money redoing the master bath. It has a walk-in tub that's also a spa bath, and a walk in shower. In fact, the only room that's not really "high end" is the kitchen. I don't believe these people cook! LOL! The oven barely looks used. Even the oven racks are still shiny! (That is SO not what my ovens look like! LOL!)
So, I guess if I was disappointed in anything, it was the kitchen. It's big enough, but the cabinetry is just builder grade cabinets. Nothing special at all. And the counters are formica and the kitchen sink is just a standard shallow stainless steel sink. Well, it all looks just fine (like barely used!), but it's not custom cabinetry. However there is a huge utility room with lots of unused space and a nice pantry.
Well, depending on the price we might get it at, I could probably do some upgrades to the kitchen and utility room. I could build extra storage in the utility room--almost like a butler's pantry. I have so much kitchen stuff! Lots and lots of specialty items like my canning equipment and party ware and sets of dishes. I would need way more kitchen storage space! And I might could even replace the counters with granite and new deep undermount sink. We'll see...
Other than that, I liked almost everything about the house! I can see almost all of my furniture fitting there. I can even keep my formal dining room table! It has a great front bedroom that would make an ideal sewing/craft/office. And a really fabulous back porch that I loved! It's also right on the golf course, so I won't ever have neighbors behind me. And it's on a cul-de-sac, which I love. The yard is quite small, but it's fenced with a wrought iron fence that's so attractive. And a small yard is all that I want. I don't want to be mowing a lot of grass. Lord knows, I've mowed enough grass in my lifetime. Besides, I pretty much plan to turn the back yard into one big flower garden anyway.
So the Realtor is doing some research into what other houses there have sold for and I imagine we'll make an offer on it today. She thinks it's overpriced, and so do we, but you never know what the seller will do. Wish us luck. Oh, and I forgot to say that it's exactly one mile from this house to Christie's house! In a different neighborhood, but only a mile. Eventually the boys could ride their bikes back and forth between our houses!
If we make a successful bid on the house, I'll post links to it on-line. I'm trying not to jinx this deal by posting too early. LOL!
Let's see, Butch had a fairly good day yesterday. He did have the energy to go look at the new house with me, but he had to sit down most of the time we were there. Still, he was able to get out of the house, and that's the first time in several weeks. He's trying to eat more, too. Still bothered with that pesky nausea from time to time, but he's eating. The pain is still with him, but at a much lower level (a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10, instead of a 5+ all the time) and it's manageable.
Oh! MDA called yesterday and they did get the insurance company to pay for the pain meds! I'm getting a refund of over $600! Whew! Which is a good thing, because now the damn insurance company won't pay to cover his Celebrex (not even the generic!) and I had to pay $300 at the pharmacy yesterday. Grrrr!
Butch and I are both going to see our regular doctor on Thursday. It's time for his diabetic checkup and I have to find out what is going on with my left arm. I can barely raise it up to wash my hair in the shower. Getting dressed is becoming quite a challenge too. I sure hope he can figure out what the hell I've done to it and how to make it better.
So, I hope everyone is doing well today and has safe travels, etc. Trish, so glad you made it home safely! What a trip you've had. No wonder you were worn out! Carla, safe travels to you today. I'm sure Vinnie is going to be happy to see her Grammy! Connie, sweetheart, I hope you are feeling better today. I worry about you when you say you feel too bad to even post! Judy, did you get hit with more snow? How are you doing? Eileen, haven't heard much from you this week. I know you have been dealing with fatigue lately. Maybe you should contact Grammylew about this Thrive stuff. It's mostly just vitamins and minerals and herbal stuff. Surely did perk me up yesterday, though. I've been going to say how proud I am of you joining the Y and exercising again! I need to do that, too.
I've forgotten what all else I was going to say. Natch. My brain only hold so much information these days and then it poops out on me. LOL!
Love you all!
Good Morning Vickie and OFF Friends,
Vickie, the house sounds almost perfect for you. It's funny about the kitchen. Sean stayed at his other grandmother's house in PA, and they have a totally brand new kitchen they don't use. He offered to cook breakfast for them, they wouldn't let him. He wanted to reheat pizza in the oven, but it is where she stores all her pots and plasticware, and wouldn't let him. It's gorgeous, but she doesn't cook. They either eat out, or get take out.
I have tons of unpacking to do today. It's snowing, and I won't be going out this morning. Glad I got home yesterday. The roads were clear, and the sun shined most of the day.
Well, better get dressed, and get to work.
Hugs and prayers,
Trish

Good morning Vickie and everyone.....
It has been snowing here since about 7 AM. We are supposed to get up to 8 inches by tomorrow....more snow the couple days!!
I haven't tried the "Thrive". I hope to feel better soon and at least try it. I think it will cost more then I can afford. I haven't figured it out yet. I need to sit down and read all the information Judi sent in the packet. Then I will talk to my doctor again to see what she thinks.
Living that close to Christie has it's pros and cons. The boys near would be a plus. Remember...you aren't their babysitter.
I am glad Butch got out yesterday. The house sounds perfect to me...you can always upgrade the kitchen. I pray it all works out for you!!! I love you much!
I hope the doctor can give you an injection in your shoulder for now. I pray you haven't torn anything in there.
As for me...so so fatigued again...it is my Fibro...big changes in weather always changes in the Fibro. PAIN!!! Even the shower hurt! I need the warm weather so badly!!
I need to go for now....too tired to reply to anyone else now....I will try to later....if not you know how much I care about each of you!!
Prayers for our strong OFF Family and their families.
Loads of love and oodles of hugs....connie d
Hi Vickie and my OFF family:
Yes, sorry I haven't been around much. Been busy at work and at home, my browser hasn't been working. Finally today, Richard did some work on my computer and it is back working again. Saved me a bunch of money because I was about to call some guys and have them fix it remotely. And all he did was a few simple computer fixes and reboots and voila! I can get into it again.
But as far as exercising this week ... well, the spirit was willing but the body was not. I got up at 8 a.m. and had plans to go to the Y. It was gloomy and miserable outside and my body hurt, but I was planning on going, even though I felt tired and achy. Then I started having an IBS flare, too. Ugh. Felt a little bit better later when Richard got his food stamps card ... he was eager to shop for food (since he can't contribute anything else, he wants to contribute to the food budget). So we went out in the rain to Walmart and then Sam's. While at Sam's, the rain got worse ... and my IBS flared again (I had to go while at Walmart but they were cleaning the restrooms so I had to hold it). So anyway, we left Sam's and it was pouring. We came home and then had to bring in groceries in the rain. This is supposed to change into snow tomorrow. Oh joy.
Richard then made steaks, corn on the cob and taters. I had half a steak, a minicob and a bit of the potatoes. I was feeling O****il now when my tummy is feeling queasy again. I'm not sure what's causing this ...
And then of course my body hurts like hell too. I know this is nothing like what Butch is going through ... I'm glad he's getting some relief though.
The dinner, btw, was wonderful. I don't know what he put on the steaks but it was great ... I know there was garlic in it because he puts garlic on everything. We planned to watch the Star Trek movies during and after dinner ... well, I stayed awake during "The Wrath of Khan" ... Richard fell asleep and woke up when Spock was dying.
I looked a bit on the website about the Thrive stuff ... just couldn't figure out what it cost.
Anyway, that's all here. I'm going to get my water and go to bed and read. I'm tired and I have a doc's appointment tomorrow ... if there's sleet and snow, I'm canceling when I get up.
