Fitness Check-in

Hi Sisters,

Back in the beginning of January, I told you gals that I would check in regularly to be accountable about my diet and exercise.  I've been remiss in doing just that.  So here goes.

Early in January, I joined a group of friends from my high school graduating class in a 3/30 fitness program.  We all agreed to post to our group that we would do a minimum of a 30 minute fitness program, at least 3 times a week.  I've been doing the indoor walking program that much.

I am not as good at my food program.  I hadn't heard of Thrive till today, so I'm going to check that out.  But, I am eating more salad, and healthier proteins, as well as less breads.

How are all of you doing with the exercise?  Connie's been taking her walks, which is great.

Love to all.

Trish

Trish....that is right...I am walking twice a day. Trying to get in those 3 miles a day !! Some days are better then others. That's okay too!!

I have changed up my eating habits to include healthier foods. I am also trying to have smaller servings...I am now measuring and weighing my food. So far so good. I may stumble a bit time to time but then I am right back at it again. I pray I can seriously do it this time....I need to lose this big tummy I have !!!

Thanks for checking in....I haven't weighed myself since I was at the doctor office Wednesday. I am going to weigh in once a week on Wednesday's. I hope when my doctor see's me in 6 weeks she will notice a difference.

Love and hugs....connie d

Girls,

I am walking every day.  I started walking up and down the hall and then went to walking the hall for ten minutes and then twenty.   I have started going to the gym and am walking not the treadmill and walk one mile exactly but walk so slowly that I am afraid it isn't doing that much good.   I am also back to using weights for my arms.   Here's the deal:  I am Vit D deficient; in part because of the weight loss surgery and in part because I am lactose intolerant and don't drink milk or eat much milk products such as cheese...I do the low fat cheese.  Anyway, I take the prescription Vit D and have tried the over the counter and the two months that I was taking the over counter stuff, I dropped back down to 3...so I am back on the prescription and am up to ten but I am losing muscle mass like crazy and I think it is the Vit D deficiency.   My bones ache...well you know.  So, I am doing the weights for my arms...just two pounds and I only do like ten three times a day.   sisters, I am falling apart...I turned 50, lost hundreds of pounds, got healthy, then as I neared 60, every thing went to hell and back...I am not going to be one of those old ladies that sits all day...that is not me.   I will find the work out routine that works and I will get my Vit D up and life will be good.   60 they say is the new 40...let's show them it is true.

Yes, let's make that a reality! You're not an old lady - you can do this!

I am wearing a fitbit, which tracks my steps.  I am up to 6K a day which for me is awesome.  It does help!  I am going to do more "house walking" and may even bust out my old Leslie Sansone walking DVD's.  Gosh I never knew how much I would miss walking until it became so hard to do.  Anyway - good for you Jeannie.  My preliminary bloodwork shows me to be Vitamin D deficient already, but I had given up all dairy for a year in an effort to lose weight. (I am not lactose intolerant and am back on dairy now.)  I didn't take any supplements during that time and, wow, my D is low.  I'm on a prescription strength supplement (50,000 MG once a week) to get me back on track.  Can you ask for something similar?

Hi ladies,

Just posted on the Monday thread with my introduction!  Here's my exercise report.

I have terrible knee problems between those and my weight, I just can't walk far enough nor fast enough to get good cardio.  So my DH bought me a stationary bike for Christmas (at my request!) and now I am using it a LOT.  My NUT asked me to do 30 minutes, 4X a week.  I have been doing 3X a week, which is good - but I feel I'm ready to raise the stakes.

I am going for 30 minutes cardio, 5X a week.  After 3 weeks of hitting this goal, I am going to treat myself to a manicure/pedicure!

Week 1, Day 1 - today - is already complete.  I do my cardio first thing in the morning so it's over with and not hanging over my head :-)  When do you ladies exercise?

Christine

I forgot to reply to Trish when I made my post!

Trish thanks for starting this thread.  I think your 3/30 fitness program is a great idea.   I think it's great you're in touch with some of your friends and can do this with them.  Unfortunately I live several hundred miles form my hometown but maybe I can get a group to do this via facebook!!  This year is my 35th high school reunion!  Wow how did that happen?  How long have you been out of high school?

Hi Christine, my fitness group was started on Facebook by a fellow graduate who is a retired marine. He was our homecoming King from the class of 75. We're fr all over the country now. We check in whenever we do our exercise.
