The real Monday, Monday
Hi OFF Family:
I came here to post, it's nearly 1 p.m. CST and no one has started the thread ... where is everyone?
I haven't been around much lately ... work has kept me occupied. Saturday was a bear of a day and then I came home at night to a real mess at home. I was in the kitchen, getting my ice water and my icepacks for my body (my legs are all swollen when I get home), when I heard water dripping. I asked Richard if he heard it ... well, he's hard of hearing. So I looked around and I saw water dripping from the ceiling of the partition between the living room and the dining room/kitchen. I scurried to get something to catch the drips. Then the drips got bigger and faster. Richard went upstairs to that apartment and pounded on their door, but no one was home. So I called my landlord; he told me to knock on the apartment upstairs (duh!). He said it was too late for him to come out and do anything and hung up. As the drips starting coming faster, I heard a "boom" and the paint peeled away from the wall on the living room side of the partition. So I called him again and told him he had to come out NOW. He understood the urgency of the call finally. He came out and went upstairs, knocked on the door; no one was home. So he got his keys and went in; the ho****er heater's overflow had overflow all the way and flooded the kitchen. So he shut off the ho****er heater and the water. But now I go****er damage on the ceiling and wall in the kitchen and living room. I will be bugging this guy constantly because he's one that doesn't seem to want to put any money into this place but likes to get the rent money on time. I have had several little things I need done and he still hasn't done them. It took several months to get the parking lot lights fixed and I still haven't gotten the lights over my door fixed (it's been a year plus). As soon as I get my tax refund, I am looking for a new place. A bigger place ... because my brother Gary may be living with us, too.
Anyway, today's my Friday. I'm really tired. My left calf hurts like hell. I hope today is an easy day. The last four have been horrible. I haven't had an easy day this week.
Hope everyone is well. Swinging those chickens for Vickie and Butch.
Good morning Eileen...and everyone.....if you want to call it a good morning!!
Eileen...I feel so bad for you. There is going to be a lot of water damage in those walls too. He will have some major construction to take care of. You are right....probably time to go somewhere else. I would write to the owners of that building and explain to them what happened and how long it takes him to do repairs. If they know you are moving out because of him they may make a deal for you to stay and fire him!!! Worth a try. Even if you move anyway the owners should know what kind of manager they really have there.
Hope your pain is at a more imaginable place now. Ice sure does help me!
As for me...I tried to sleep in late....I keep getting calls from 900 numbers and area codes from states I don't know anyone in. I don't answer them. I figure if it is someone that knows me they will leave a message. I maybe need to call and update my Do Not Call again!
I have a couple windows open again...the sun is shining and it feels so good! It is only 29 but feels like 33. My apartment is registering 82 degrees. I need to get that lowered. I am not sure what else I will do today...I am sure I will come up with something!
I pray all is going well for Butch and Vickie today. It sure will be nice if the doctor can come up with something to help with Butch's new pain issues. I feel so bad for him. Sending more prayers.
Wishing you all a beautiful day!
Prayers for our sweet OFF Family and their families as well.
Much love and many hugs to all of you...connie d
Hi Eileen,
It's a shame that your landlord is so lax. I've been very lucky. When I lived in a complex, I and my kitchen ceiling fell in, I also had water in my coat closet and living room carpet. The maintenance guys had the ceiling fixed and painted, and brought in a carpet cleaning company with industrial fans to lift the carpet and get it dry. It was finished in a few days. I loved that complex, but the rent was over $1,000 a month. My sis-in-law found me the house with two apartments. I lived on the second floor for almost two years, and then moved downstairs, where I had a basement and small yard for Utley. When I moved to the first floor, my son helped me empty my storage unit, so I saved money there as well. The landlord was very good about calling repair people to fix things in a timely fashion. Here, Colleen and Trent are my landlords. Trent's not as timely, unless it's something serious, like you're dealing with. I totally understand. He works six days a week, 12 hours a day, plus he helps Colleen sometimes with grocery shopping when he's able.
I hope you find a better apartment and good landlord.
Love,
Trish

Hello Tri**** sounds like you have had some nice places to live. Having good maintenance is so important. Now with Trent having to do the extra work, he must just run out of time. Work and family can be enough at times.
I am still waiting to get my storage unit emptied. We have to wait until Spring so we don't have to freeze to death. Pam is putting so much in there. I haven't gone out to check it yet. My grandson, Lucas and Tyler and Amanda really had it all cleaned out. They had it looking good. I have no idea what to expect now. That storage can be expensive, an expense I don't need or want anymore!!!
Have a good night. I am tired and hope to get to bed by 9:00 or 10 tonight.
Love you....HUGS....connie d
Eileen I think you can put your rent money into a separate bank account and not pay the rent until things are fixed....I would call an attorney and ask what to do!!! You can get a free consult call I am sure!!! I sure wouldn't pay any rent til this mess is cleaned up the right way and soon!!!!!!!!!
HUGSSSSSSS
