Anyone had a sleeve between 58-60??

 Hello I am 58 years old and contemplating on getting a sleeve three years ago I had a lap band but it didn't work!! I lost a total of 30 pounds but I gained back 15 in the last month or two since they open the band completely because it was too tight.  Now I want to sleeve And I want the band out!! I am in pretty good health  other than my weight. It's just that I'm 58 years old and it seems a lot older than a lot of these other people that are having sleeves done. Who else is out there in their late 50s Who got the sleeve and how did you do???

Hi, I am not between 50 and 60.  I am 66.  I got the sleeve on Sept. 9, 2014.  The only complications were the pain initially; I have absolutely no pain tolerance.  Otherwise, everything went well.  I am down 68 pounds and counting.  So, if it is being older you are concerned about, I say go for it.  Your PCP has your medical history and is aware of any pre surgery problems.  Best of luck, whatever you decide. 

Thank you!!  Yes, I am wondering about age???  Most post and sleeves I see are for people under 50!!  I just wanted to see if older people also get the sleeve, and how well they do.  I do understand that it is different for everyone and it depends on their health, but I was still wondering.  Thanks again.

Hi there:  I had the VSG 6 years ago at age 57.  No regrets.  Many people have their surgery, lose a lot of weight and go on with their lives; periodically pop in to say  "Hello".  Don't fret.  You will be just fine.
