Sweet Vickie,

I'm so sorry you had such a difficult week.  Yet, you sounds much more at peace with things than a week ago.  as you said, God is sovereign, and we really do not know the number of our days.  Yet, I believe that Psalm 139 tells us that He knows.  I hope you, and Butch have a really blessed day with all the kids.

Love you.

Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Thank you, Trish.  You are always such a comfort to me.  I love that we share our faith in God together.  Through good times and bad, He is always present in our lives.  But sometimes we need our earthly angels to remind us of that fact.  You are my earthly angel so often.  Bless you!  Vic

Hi Vickie....I just don't know what to say. I am so saddened by the news of Butch's lung cancer. I know how much of a blow that must have been for you. If there is anything I can do for you or your family....please let me know! I love you!!

Nic had a PET Scan...he has one every year. They are amazing tests. It can pick up anything, no matter the size. It is one of the most expensive but best scans there are. You know I pray, pray, pray for you, Butch and all your family. I won't give up!!

Now...go have fun with your family. Let the girls take over. You need to conserve your energy. They should understand that. I know this is hard for them too. I am so excited that the little ones will be there today too. That is just what you and Butch need....lots of baby love!!!!

Much love and many hugs for you.....connie d

Vic,

I am so sorry for the terrible news of Butch's lung cancer.   I, like you, don't believe that doctors always know the dates or near dates of someone's death.   I can tell you that they gave my brother six months and he lived four years, and when he finally chose to stop all treatment, he was at peace.   I know that over the next few months, you and your girls will do what you can to keep Butch comfortable, and I know that you will use this time wisely.   You are a strong woman but over the next few months, you are going to need to rely upon the strength of your family and good friends.   I just hope you reach out and let others help you.  My husband's doctor said to me, don't forget that someone needs to remember to take care of the care takers.   He was right.   So, for you my friend, take care of yourself...take time for yourself and get the rest you need.   No one would dare begrudge you that care.

Thank you, Jeannie!  You are right--it's hard work being the caregiver.  But it's a blessing to me that I can do this for my husband.  Thank you for telling me about your brother.  It is stories like his that keep us both living and hoping for the best.  Love you!  Vic

Vickie:  We have a good friend who is fighting advanced kidney cancer.  He had surgery and is receiving chemo.  In the middle of chemo, he had to have open heart surgery which delayed chemo six weeks.  Originally, he had been given a year and they are five months into that now.  They have kept the faith and, like you and Butch, have a whole bunch of prayer warriors praying for them.  His most recent visit to the doc brought some good news -- no, great news -- they now think he has more time with his family.  No doubt, with all the worldly setbacks -- that God has blessed them with the miracle of more time.

No one knows for anything for sure -- just like you said.  Your positive attitude and faith will bring you through.

I will continue to pray for you both.

Hope you had a wonderful visit with your family today.  Being surrounded by love is powerful.

Thank you Cindy!  I am so glad we are friends.  We both believe in the power of prayer and we believe that God will guide us through this phase of our lives.  But the support of friends and prayer warriors is priceless at this time.  Love you!  Vic
