Welcome Kim,

Feel free to post any questions, concerns, or frustrations here.  I struggle with eating too fast, and then regret not slowing down.  Make sure that you go for the protein first.  That will help with feeling full.  I also like to include meals regularly that have beans in them.  Beans, like refried, or kidney, have fiber and protein.  Taco salads, burritoes, chili, are great for getting the beans in.  The fiber helps that full feeling, plus keeps the plumbing moving more efficiently.  When I was on soft foods, I'd microwave some refried beans with cheddar cheese for a meal.  Yummy.

I also make sure I have protein snacks, like cheese sticks, or yogurt handy.  Even eight years post-op I still make a protein shake, with milk, yogurt, berries and AnyWhey protein powder.

Hope you check in regularly.

Hugs,

Trish

Hi Trish,

I think eating too fast is a big part of my problem. Also carbs have always been a trigger for me. If I have a bite of potatoes, it makes me want to eat more . So I am trying to eat lower carb and higher fiber.

I love beans! I have not yet tried to eat salad, but I look forward to a nice taco salad. I do have some refried beans in the cupboard. They would be good with some shredded Mexican cheese. I also eat cheese sticks at least once a day. They are perfect for an on the go snack at work.

I really appreciate the warm welcome from everyone!

Hi Kim....

Happy New Year and Welcome!

Like you, I just recently joined this Forum and the gals are great....  I had VSG on Dec. 8th and coming on OH and the over 50 forum has answered a lot of questions for me.  Everyone is so very helpful.  I am 62 and very happy that I've got women my age to converse with.

2015 is going to be our year!

Best of Luck

Happy New Year to you as well.....

I may be 62 in biological years but my brain still tells me I'm only 35 :)  Maybe my body will kind of look like it did back then.  Can't wait to see what 2015 will bring!

Have a great Holiday

Kim
