Cedar fever Wednesday

Good morning sistas!

Oh my, cedar fever has struck again.  This is my second morning to wake up with a headache, stuffy nose, sore throat, itchy ears, etc.  Yesterday morning I thought I was getting sick, but then I felt pretty good the rest of the day.  But last night I noticed the cedar count was HIGH on the news and the light bulb went off in my head: CEDAR FEVER.  Ugh.  Sure enough, I woke up with another *****in' headache, runny nose, sore throat and itchy ears again this morning.  I've never had allergy problems before in my life.  But this cedar fever is a *****  I had it last year for the first time.  I guess it's going to be an annual event in my life as long as I live in this part of Texas.

Sorry to start out the thread with a big ol' gripe session.  I just feel pretty rotten, and that's unusual for me.  Even my eyeballs itch!  LOL!

So we had one hell of a day yesterday!  Wow.  We just thought going to San Antonio for Butch's chemo was going to be easier, but boy! were we wrong!  It was awful at the CRTC.  Truly.  I am so thankful that we didn't seek treatment there for Butch when he was first diagnosed with this rare cancer last summer.  I believe he would be dead now if we had.  It was like NOBODY was in charge there!  It was crazy.

We had an appointment time of 9:45 a.m. and they said for us to arrive early.  We were there by 9:15 a.m.  We waited over an hour just to be called back for his blood work and IV.  Then we were taken to the treatment room, and told we had to wait for the results of the blood work before treatment could start.  We waited until after 12:00 for the damn blood work!  And THEN they didn't even do a PSA test!!!  The man has anaplastic PROSTATE cancer and the cancer center didn't think to test his PSA???  We waited another hour and a half until they finally started the chemo around 1:30 p.m.  Every time I would ask the nurse what the hold up was she would blame it on someone else.  First it was the lab was backed up.  Then the pharmacy was backed up.  It took all day to get his chemo and we were exhausted!!!  We won't be going back there again.  Hell, we're not even certain he got the right drugs, although I did make them tell me the names of the chemo they were giving him and they were the right names.  But who the hell knows WHAT we got there yesterday.  We were NOT impressed.

Anyway, Butch is up with a headache this morning, too, although it's not clear if his is from cedar fever or from chemo side effects.  He's taking his anti-nausea meds and so far he's not felt sick.  He says all his joints ache this morning.  Poor darling.  And for some reason his cheeks are all flushed up, but he doesn't have a fever.

So today is Benny's class' Christmas party and I'm supposed to bring treats.  I had planned to make they yesterday afternoon, but HA!  That didn't happen.  So I have to get busy and make them this morning.  I should be okay. The actual party time is 3:00 p.m.  I'm making the cutest things!  They are chocolate covered marshmallows "pops" on candy cane sticks.  Some will be white chocolate and some will be milk chocolate.  I'll drizzle them with red and green icing and sprinkles.  SO cute!  I even found giant super puff marshmallows at the store.  I'm making the same treats for Reese's Christmas party on Friday, only I'm using just regular sized large marshmallows for the little people.  I'll take pics for FB when I have them done.

Okay, Judy, just for you we broke down and sampled some of the chocolate covered cherries last night.  OMG.  The cherries I soaked in amaretto are divine!!!  Oh, yum!  The maraschino cherries are good, too, but nothing to compare with the "drunken" cherries.  I think I may have to make another batch of those!

I would like to do some things around here today that are just for me.  I have my Christmas cards to get done.  I have snaps and pansies to plant in my pots on the front porch.  I have these treats to make for the boys' parties.  And I would like to crochet or sew a little.  Don't know how much of that I'll accomplish, but I will try.

I love you all.  Judy, praying for your mom and you today.

Good morning Vickie and everyone....

Vickie....I am so sorry you are miserable with"Cedar Fever". That sounds awful!! Push the Vitamin C and drink plenty of liquids. Do you have any saline nasal spay? That works great to keep things opened up. You can use it as many times a day as you want. It doesn't sound like this will be a restful day but try to when you can. Sending over prayers for you and Butch.

Yesterday sounded like something from a horror movie!!! Talk about incompetent people!!!  I am happy to know you won't be going back!! You are so right, I am glad you didn't start this process there. I would hate to think what the outcome would be now.

The Christmas treats for Benny and Budder's parties sound so sweet. I can't wait to see pictures!! Remember to grab a couple apples or oranges for those children that can't eat sweets.

Sure ....now you tell us how amazing those chocolate cherries are!!! I would love the "drunken cherries"!! They sound just wonderful! Enjoy one for me!!! I love you much!!!

It makes me laugh when I think that you need to get some flowers potted and put out on the porch. I look out the window and see piles and miles of snow!! LOL!!!!!

As for me...my cleaning lady comes today. I hope she has her car as I need to run to Target and pic up some odds and ends. Last week her son dropped her off....that didn't help me any!!

I better go get dressed...I am still in my robe. I need to get things done as it will be time to go down to lunch in 45 minutes!

Have a beautiful day everyone...this is our first day of sunshine in 10 days!! It was getting depressing!!

Prayers for our sweet OFF Family and their families.

Special prayers for Judy's mother...and Judy!

Loads of love and bunches of hugs to all.....connie d

Hi Vickie and Connie and my OFF family to come:

Vickie, the treats are so cute! I'm sure the kids will love them. Can't imagine anyone will have any problems with them ... no nuts in anything there?

As for the cherries ... I want some! Of the drunken cherries, of course. Send some to Indiana.

Connie, lucky you to have your cleaning lady coming. Mine called and canceled today. Seems she's coming down with the bug ... she said the flu, but lots of people say flu and it's a stomach bug (which, of course, isn't the flu, it's the rotovirus or enterovirus or whatever) and not really the flu, which is an upper respiratory virus. So she won't be coming until after the holidays.

I woke up with a sore throat again today, so I'm not doing much. I'm putting up the rest of my decorations and putting away the boxes. And that's about it. Just have one more box to get through. Putting them away is harder ... they seem heavier with the bobbleheads in them.

Oh, and here's an interesting tidbit. I bought my recliner through a rent-to-own place. I pay so much a month. Anyway, last Thursday I went in (instead of calling) to pay. I told the guy my name, he said, "Ah, here you are," gave him my debit card and took my receipt, didn't look at it, saw the charge on my debit card (I can never remember how much I pay) and figure I was OK. Well, Monday evening I was watching football when this woman from the place calls and asks if I want to make a payment. I said I had made a payment. She said I hadn't. She asked for the receipt number. Well, I had to search for it, so I told her I'd call her back. That forced me to clean out my newspaper bin, my magazine/mail rack and the other two places I put mail and important receipts to search for it. Finally found it ... it was $132 something and it was for someone else that the name wasn't even close ... other than the last name started with Br. First name was Rita ... doesn't even sound like mine. I was pretty upset. So was the manager of the store.

Anyway, so today she calls me back to ask me for my card again. She has to jump through all these hoops to make this right. She has to erase the payment I made on Thursday, then make a new payment to my account. She told the young man who did this, "I want to choke you." Yeah, my sentiments exactly. I am none too happy with them. I have not missed a payment with them since I got my recliner and now it looks like I did, through no fault of my own. I'm so pissed off.

Judy, I hope your mom is doing OK. My mom was taken to the doctor yesterday with what she thought was a UTI; she told my brother she was having problems going. But then when he came home from work, she said she had gone. So they went to the doctor anyway. Doctor didn't get a urine sample because my mom said she didn't think she could produce one; he did get blood from her at least. I guess he wants her off the incontinence drug she was taking and gave her an antibiotic. Gary now isn't sure he has enough vacation days left for his trip to see his son's family over the holidays.

That's my life ... crazy, isn't it? And I live alone!

Vickie, I hope Butch will feel better as the day goes on.

Have a good day, everyone. This has gotten really long.

Hi Eileen....what a bummer about you recliner payment. Now you will have two charges going out and one credit. The credits always seem to take longer to get back on the account. I only have my bank card but it has happened to me too. Now whether I am in a hurry or not I check the charges and make sure it is right before I leave the store. I don't have extra money just sitting around!!! I would be so mad at that man!! I hope he gets a reprimand over that mix up!!

I am praying for your mom too. The antibiotics should help. Sorry about Gary having to use his vacation time. I hope he can go see his son even if it is a day shorter.

Have a good restful day!!

Love you...Hugs.....connie d

hi

im bringing up the rear! Vinnie was in rare form today. I had to take back her twinkle toe shoes. Thosestupid 44.00 shoes stopped twinkling on one shoe after a day! i was mad cause the dude at Macys just looked at me and went in the back and wouldnt wait on me, told me he couldnt return them cause i didnt have the box. i was pissed, i said u can scan my american express and bring up the reciept. or go in the back and get another box scan that box and take these back. im not leaving this store till u either give me a credit or give me another pair of shoes, he tried to give me a size 6 not 5, 6 wont fit to big so i got the credit. then went to nordstrom rack and found the same shoe in a five 1/2 off. i was happy and so was vinnie.

that was my excitement today!

Hi Carla....Glad you had fun with Vinnie. Sorry about those shoes. You did the right thing demanding to exchange or money back. It was great you found some like it at Nordstrom's.

Have a good evening!!

Love and hugs....connie d

still can't post from puter. Please keep praying for Colleen. She's really having a hard time. Jaiden's death is so hard for her. Our church reached out to the family to let them use our building for the funeral. It was originally to be at the funeral home across the street. The high school will be closed to allow the students and teachers attend.
