Good morning Carla and everyone.....

Carla...I am happy that you are with your Vinnie again!! Have a great time together!!!!

As for me....I am up because of the damn pain I have. It is so hard to find a comfortable position to lay. I love my bed. When I hurt like this I can't ever sleep for long. I am praying that I will feel better later on.

I had so much fun with my daughter Monday. We didn't do much, but we sure did enjoy our time together!!

I will check back in later today. I am praying that Butch has a better day today....and Vickie too! I love you much!!

Prayers for all our fabulous OFF Family and their families.

Have a peaceful day!!

Lots of love and many hugs to all....connie d

Good Morning Carla,

I'm being picked up by Colleen in a few minutes. I'm getting an upper GI endoscopy coz of pain I have had off and on

Laptop has a virus. So I am on my phone. Will fix it tomorrow. That's why I haven't been here.

Love you all.

Trish

Trish...I am praying all went well with the endoscopy.

Sorry about your Laptop virus. I understand how hard it is to post from a phone. I hope you get the virus removed soon.

Good morning Carla!

And Connie and Trish--Prayers for BOTH of you!

I am grateful for today.  Nothing scheduled, no appointments, nothing!  Whew!  We need a day of rest.  Butch is doing a bit better.  He says he doesn't want me to call MDA.  So okay.  I won't call.

Today I would like to catch up on my laundry, maybe try out a couple of pecan recipes, and wrap presents.  Chris and Mike may be coming out to do a little more work for us this afternoon.  More painting for Chris.  Finish up some of the yard work for Mike and other outdoor things.

We are meeting with the septic tank inspector on Thursday afternoon.  We don't think there's anything wrong with the septic tank at the new house.  This is just part of process of having everything inspected before our 10-day grace period is up on Friday.  The inspector will pump the tank and then inspect it for any problems.  It's pricey--a little over $500--but a small price to pay for the knowledge that the system is in good working order.  And we paid just over $500 for the house inspection, too.  You don't pay for these things unless you're serious about buying the house!  We are still waiting to hear back from the sellers concerning the roof.  Turns out the lady works at a jail and can't take any personal calls during the day.  The other realtor was going to talk to them last night.  We should hear something from our realtor today.

In the meantime, I have plenty to keep me busy.  Yesterday we did a little shopping.  Not much, but the stores weren't crowded and Butch felt up to going out a bit.  I bought 2 dozen little Christmas gift tins at the Dollar Store.  I'm going to use them for all these pecan goodies I'm making.  They were just $1 each there!  I knew I wouldn't beat that price anywhere else.  I'm giving some to Chris to give to the boys' teachers and she wants to give some to her bosses at Hobby Lobby.  Then I have the gift baskets for Mike's family. And we have lots of Poes to give to at Poe Family Christmas (which will be the weekend after real Christmas).  I'm sure I will use them all and probably wish I had bought more.

I also found some baskets at Big Lots that I liked.  They are dark brown, which means they are a neutral color that can be used any time of the year.  I bought some shredded paper filler (one red and one green) and some Christmas ribbon to dress them up a bit.  Now to fill them!  Oy vey.  Butch wanted me to buy bigger baskets, but I told him, "You have no idea how expensive it can be to fill even a small basket!"  These are medium sized.  It will cost a pretty penny to do both of them.  Which is fine, but I'm not doing giant gift baskets!  I mean, yes, it's for Mike's family, but I don't even know these people.  And they have to be able to fly home again with whatever I give them.  I don't want to appear cheap, but there's no reason to be extravagant either.

I'm thinking we will go over to Gruene one afternoon and buy some Texas themed products for the baskets.  We have quite the active little wine industry here in the hill country.  We'll buy some Texas wines and local food products.  I would like to find some Texas calendars and maybe a Texas Christmas ornament to include as well.  We'll see what pops out at us.

Anyway, I now have all my Christmas presents bought except for some little stocking stuffers for the boys.  I want to get a few things for all the stockings, but I'm trying to stay away from candy.  I have been on a candy binge since before Thanksgiving and I've gained 4 pounds!  This has to stop.

Oh, and I found some glasses at Big Lots yesterday, too.  I only have mismatched plastic glasses here at the lake house.  Which has been just fine for us, but not quite what I would want to set out for company!  Anyway, I found a set of 12 real glasses at Big Lots for $8!  They'll do just fine.  I have dozens and dozens of glasses packed away in the storage building, but here I go, buying more.  I'm trying really hard not to let my pride get ahead of my common sense right now.  There's no point in me buying duplicates of everything I already own just because Mike's family is coming for Christmas.

(Oh, but it hurts me not to have my pretty Christmas dishes and things here to entertain with!)

Oh, well, they're coming to see the boys, not judge my house, right?

I'd better close now and get busy on something.  I can waste more time sitting in front of this computer!  LOL!  Judy, so glad your sister is doing better now.

Love you all!

Hi Vickie....I am so glad you are having an appointment free day!! Knowing you,you will keep busy. At least it is just things you want to do!!!

I think Big Lots and stores like that are great for picking up baskets and tins and such. It sounds like you have made some good choices. I really miss doing all those kinds of things. Christmas time was always so fun!! I loved all the decorating and put-zing  around.

The Texas themed products for the baskets is a really cute idea!!

I hope you get to enjoy your day. I am also glad Butch is feeling a bit better. I am keeping the prayers coming.

Have a good day...love you...HUGS.....connie d
