Please everyone keep Trish in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks Connie,
Funeral arrangements are being made. The family is not planning it till after Thanksgiving.
Grandpa met his wife while stationed at Goodfellow Air Base in San Angelo, Texas, during World War II. After the war, they moved back to Michigan. They did serve as missionaries in Africa at one point in their lives. He worked with his grandsons, when they were old enough, teaching them carpentry. Trent seemed to be the only kid from his Mom's side to have a knack for it. Right after Colleen and Trent got engaged, in 2001, Grandpa took Trent overseas to do work on a church on the mission field.
Grandpa loved to bake bread, and give it away. When I would take him shopping, we'd stop at a restaurant supply store, and he'd purchase 50 to 100 pounds of flour at a time. He has a bakery size mixer in his basement. For every funeral dinner at our church, he'd provide a minimum of 8 loaves of bread, he'd slice himself. He has at least 3 electric knives, and a slicing guide to make the slices even.
He brought me a small loaf of bread just a week ago.
He always took the time to get to know the newcomers to his neighborhood, and at church. Before the service, he'd sit in the foyer, and greet people, hugging the Munchkins, and asking people how things are going. He was in church every Sunday morning, without fail.
When Colleen's sister-in-law passed away in February, he actually said he wished it had been him, instead of her. He led a full life. Jessi was just starting a family.
Please pray especially for Trent's Mom. She's been helping Toby with Baby Hunter several days a week, as he adjusts to raising Hunter alone. It's been very hard for her to watch her son grieve the loss of his wife. Now, she also must say goodbye to her father. Her name is Beth.
I'm still planning my trip to Pennsylvania. Colleen assured me it's okay.
Must scoot.
Love,
Trish

Trish...this just makes me want to cry.
I will add Beth to the prayer list for Grandpa's families. I feel so sad for her...losing both a son and father so soon. That is heartbreaking.
Back to bed for me...I just came to get something to drink. I can't move around a lot then I feel more sick.
Take good care of you...love and hugs....connie d
