Happy Saturday to my sistas!
Good morning lovely sistas!
We are up and doing fairly well on Day 3 after Chemo. Butch still has a headache. It comes and goes in intensity, but so far, that's been the worst of it. We are continuing to just take it easy, doing very little, resting as much as possible. And he's drinking plenty of water. No signs of dehydration as yet. I am cautiously optimistic this time around.
I worked on my crochet quite a bit yesterday. Finished the back panel of my new sweater. Started on one of the front panels. It's lovely yarn!
I didn't get much done around the house yesterday. I did get the dishes washed and made a pot of soup and a pan of cornbread last night. I really have to try and get a bit more work done around here today. The laundry is starting to pile up. LOL! I'm being very lazy right now.
Christie came out for a visit after work last night. Just her, not the boys. She has the next 3 days off. And Mike has the next weekend off. So for now the babysitting issue is moot. Thank goodness. I told her again that she needs to find a babysitter here in New Braunfels who can pick the boys up from school and keep them a few hours each week. She said she will try. I suggested inquiring at the Y and at local churches. I did NOT offer to pick up the slack.
I also offered her a job doing some painting for me. I already bought much of the interior paint we need for this house over a year ago, long before my hysterectomy last December. But my shoulder just will not allow me to do any more painting. Darn it. But Chris is a good painter, and if I have to pay someone to finish painting the interior of this house, I'd just as soon pay her. I told her we could just do it in small increments--a hallway one day, a living room wall one day, et****il we get it all done. She said she would, but now I have to figure out what would be a fair wage to pay her. I've never paid for painting before. Any suggestions?
Well, it's a beautiful cool morning here and I'm going out to enjoy my front deck for awhile. Love these fall mornings! Almost as much as I love all of you!

Trish here it is...
Polish Sausage And Cabbage Soup
2 Cups Potatoes cubed and Peeled
4 Cups Shredded Cabbage
1 Carrot shredded
1 Large onion chopped
1 1/4 lb Polish sausage cut into 1/2 inch slices
4 Cups chicken Broth Or you can just use water but salt and pepper to taste
Cook in crock pot (I cooked mine on top of stove)
Potatoes cabbage carrot onion sausage then pour broth over top. Cook low 10-12 hours OR high 5-6 hours Salt Pepper to taste.
I also used large bag of shredded cabbage ready for cole slaw and also used bag of shredded carrots. I used a large can of chicken broth and then used lots of water to fill kettle up. Also more potatoes to make up the pot full and also 3 packages of 2 in a pack hillshire kielbasa instead. Like I said I made this for a crowd not just for the two of us. But it was YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you like it as well as the rest of us did!!!
Judy,
That sounds absolutely scrumtious. I am definitely getting the fixings for that when I go grocery shopping on Friday. I wish I could get good kielbasi around here. Back home there is a Polish butcher shop that makes their own smoked and fresh kielbasi. Their's is so much better than Hillshire Farm. One of the schools I taught at was in that part of Philly, and I had to drive a block from it to get on the interstate to go home every afternoon. At Christmas and Easter I'd go there and buy huge amounts of both, to freeze and serve. Colleen got so spoiled with it, I'd bring it here frozen, and we'd have it the day I arrived. My sister even brought some frozen in her suitcase last year when she flew here in April. I'll still try it if I don't find anything better than Hillshire Farm. Just, once you've had it made by a butcher you know, the packaged stuff is just sausage. In spite of my name, I'm half Polish. Mom's parents were from Poland, so I grew up on great Polish food. Kielbasi, halubki, pierogi, all homemade. Didn't know who Mrs. T was till I lived in California.
Love ya.

Trish, I'm part Polish myself (although mostly German) so I know what you mean. There was a really good butcher shop in Michigan near where I lived (Jenison). They had good bratwurst ... lots of different kinds, all made right there. Other kinds of sausage, too. Don't know if they had Polish sausage. I know Chicago had a lot of good Polish sausage. My best friend Roxane used to make pierogi but I think she gave that up when she had the kids. Although now that they're grown, maybe she's gone back to it. Don't know.
Greetings Vickie, Judy and OFF,
I've had a busy day so far, and it's definitely not over yet.
Lincoln had his last soccer game this morning, for this season. It was overcast, and chilly, but I was wearing cuddle duds, a shirt and two sweatshirts, so I was fine. Ended up sitting next to the goal that Lincoln defended for a quarter. Got to see him score two goals also. The last one he kicked was on the final whistle. Four five years old he's a very fast runner, and I'm not just saying that coz he's my grandson. He can pass all the kids going after the ball.
Enough bragging. The sun came out while I was driving home, so I raked most of the leaves out front. Here we put all yard waste to the street, and the town sends a giant vaccuum machine out to suck them up. They also have a chipper for branches.
While outside, I remembered I wanted to make some beef stew for supper, so I threw that together, ate my lunch, and now I'm heading back out for 20 minutes. I then plan to watch the huge Michigan rivalry between Michigan State and University of Michigan. Go Spartans. Then tonight I'm watching Penn State and Ohio State. Go Lions.
Connie, please call me if you need someone to talk to. I am a very good listener. Trained in it you know. I love you, and hate that you're going through a rough time.
Love to all.
Trish

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:
My big outing today was to venture out to the mailbox. Trust me, this isn't a far walk and it's all flat. I hadn't gotten mail since I was to the doctor on Tuesday. I knew one of my prescriptions was in the mailbox and I was almost out of that one. So I needed to venture out. I got that, plus a letter from the short term disability guys saying they would pay for my time off until Oct. 31. So I will have a paycheck on Thursday ... yippee! Because right now I have $10 in my checking account. I'm supposed to go back to the doc on Wednesday to get my release for work ... or he will have me off for longer ... I guess we'll see. Everything else in the mail was bills and junk.
So the rest of the day is sitting with my legs up, watching football and baseball and reading. Almost done with "Harry Potter" Book 1. After which, I will watch the movie again.
Got to get some food. I'm getting hungry. The Quest bar I had for breakfast is wearing off.
Have a good day.
Good day everyone....no need to worry.
I just need some me time. Dealing with this damn pain....constantly.....every day. This is not living!!
I will try to post tomorrow if I can. I just have no energy. My body is so fatigued.
You know I love you all.....take care....still sending prayers for all. So glad Butch is doing better with the chemo.
Much love and many hugs to all....connie d
