Blessings for your Sunday
Good morning my sistas!
Oh, such beautiful weather we are having right now! It is such a relief after all the intense summer heat.
Today will be a quiet day for us. Thank goodness! We kept the boys yesterday and it just about did me in! Chris and Mike didn't get off wor****il very late and got to our house around 11 p.m. I had, of course, already fed the boys supper and given them a bath and put them in jammies. Whew! Then Benny laid down with Butch in our bed to watch a story on Butch's tablet. I took Budder into another bedroom to read a couple of little stories and hopefully fall asleep. NOPE! No way, no how. That baby would NOT fall asleep! He finally gave it up about 10 minutes before Chris and Mike got here. I was exhausted.
But other than the late night, the whole babysitting gig went really well yesterday. I took the boys out in the backyard and we played and played. Budder tasted every leaf, every twig, and every dirt clod he could find (!), but I don't think he actually swallowed anything. LOL! I just let him crawl all over the back yard and he had a ball. I don't have any stickers in my grass back there. They have a bunch of grass burrs and stickers in the yard at their house. We'll have to work on that next spring.
I pleased to say that Maybelle is very calm and patient with the boys. They were just fascinated by her long ears! Benny was especially thrilled with her and just petted and played with her all day. Oh, so Trish, we decided to just take Maybelle permanently. Butch said he knew me. There was no way I would give her back after keeping her for two weeks. LOL! He's right!
So Butch said when I left to go to the store yesterday morning and pick up the boys that Maybelle just howled and howled when she realized that I was gone. He said she didn't want anything to do with him at all. She sat at the back door and scratched and howled inconsolably (sp?). I guess we've bonded. I've noticed she follows me all over the house and settles down into whatever room I'm in. She doesn't have to sit on my lap; she's content to just be in the same room. Such a little sweetheart.
So, if you will recall, we sent Patty Kate to stay with Carrie in Waco for the past two weeks while we were in Houston for the radiation treatments. Therefore, PK and MB have yet to meet each other. In a way, this has been good for MB since she's had a chance to adjust to being in her new home and with her new owners. I still don't know how all the puppies in our extended family will act when they realize we've introduced a new "sister" into the pack. I think it will be okay. Maybelle is very submissive, not alpha-like at all. Poor little thing still doesn't understand what happened to her, I'm sure. She spent 7 years with her last "mom" and then went into a rescue foster home with 8 other dogs. No one wanted to adopt a senior.
So, I told Butch, I may have opened us up to some heartache with Maybelle. She's already 10 and won't be around for many more years, but I just had to have her. The heart wants.
Today is a marathon crochet day for me. I'm going to settle down in the living room, turn on movies, and crochet until I finish everything! Sounds pretty good to me. I may not even get dressed. LOL!
Butch is experiencing some residual discomfort from the radiation treatments and he's content to stay in bed or the recliner all day today, too.
Well, I'm done chattering for the morning. I love you all!

Good Afternoon Vickie and OFF,
Vickie, I'm glad you are keeping Maybelle for good. She sounds like a lover. Utley is definitely an alpha dog. I was able to have one of Eileen's dogs with him for visits, but not the other. She has owned ****er spaniels before, and they have always been submissives. Now, she has a ****apoo. Same personality. Utley has been doing something very weird late in the evening. He decides when he wants to go to bed, so he barks at me, like he usually does to go out, but tries to lead me to the bedroom. I have the door open, so he can go in, but he wants me to go in with him. He bugs me when I'm cooking or cleaning, and he wants to sit on my lap. But, this bedtime stuff is new. We're not talking really late. It could be like 9:30, and he does it. I usually don't go in till my primetime shows are over, unless I'm not feeling well.
So, today, I got to play with a two month old baby. Tenley, one of my Munchkins' cousins, slept for a half hour, then woke up hungry. Her mom had just filled her bottle with fresh breast milk this morning, so I just had to warm it a little. After church ended I met her other grandmother, who doesn't normally attend our church. Very sweet woman. Then, I got to attend Sunday School. So rarely does that happen.
I've been watching NFL Red Zone, where I get to see the Eagles' game key plays. So far they're winning. I'm also putting stuff away in my room, and debating whether I want to get out my winter wardrobe yet.
This evening, I have church, and nothing else exciting.
Judy, sorry you didn't win at all last night.
Love to all,
Trish
