Happy Labor Day y'all

Hi sistas!

Hope everyone is enjoying the 3-day weekend (except, of course, our Canadian sistas who already had theirs).  We are still not doing much, although today I have to go to the store and run a few errands in town.  I ran out of the yarn I'm using for the baby afghan and I have to go to JoAnn's and get more.  I also settled on a layette set to crochet, and I need some yarn for that as well.  

Butch has good moments and bad moments, but is still doing well overall, I think.  I'm concerned about his lack of appetite, but hoping that will improve this week.  I make things that he says he wants to eat, then he tries a bite or two and says it just doesn't taste right, and that's it.  He won't eat again for hours.  I know that's the chemo, but it's worrisome to me.  He's lost so much weight!  

I, of course, have gained.  Ugh.  If the day ever comes that I get too stressed to eat, it will be the end of the world, I think.  When I get stressed, I eat up a storm!   

Well, I need to get moving.  Love you all!

Hi, Vickie: 

Even though Butch isn't eating normally, he does seem to be doing much better than last time.  I am grateful for that.  It's hard not to worry, isn't it?  (I am a worrier by nature.)  Hopefully, you will find some high calorie things he can tolerate as time goes on.  It'**** and miss right now. 

We are being lazy slugs today.  I would like to go get some Starbucks but haven's mustered the what for to get up and get going.  Maybe I should just make myself a cuppa joe here at home.  Even the dog is lazy today.

Have fun picking out your yarn.  It will be a good distraction for a little while.

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

What's a three-day weekend? I haven't had one of those in a long time. I could have had today off, but the extra money was too tempting. 

Glad Butch is doing OK. Cancer is tough, I'm told. I've watch too many people waste away from it. Worried something else is going on with Richard. The mouth sores and lack of energy bother me. They tell me something else is going on. 

Today is my Friday, and it should be an easy night. I do have two sports sections to do but hopefully no late games. I'm pretty pooped. Saturday I did 11 pages (I did get help with the last two). 

Yesterday, my friend Linda from Chicago came in with her boyfriend. I've known Linda since high school (she was a friend of a high school classmate). Her boyfriend is a man in his mid to late 60s. He has COPD. Nice guy, he is very smitten with Linda ... thinks she is very intelligent and a "keeper." Good ... I hope he treats her right. He seems as if he does. She seems happy with him. She has never had a guy, never been married. She is part Japanese ... her father was in Japan during WWII, came back with a Japanese bride. Linda is a sweetie; works for the Newberg Library in Chicago. 

We went to lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse and had a nice lunch. I got grilled shrimp ... yummy. It was brushed with this wonderful marinade. Plus I had a mac and cheese with bacon. Ate two of the shrimp kabobs and half of the mac and cheese, plus most of my salad. Then Linda gave me one of her pork chops, so I have leftovers.

Not much else going on. Work again tonight. Have a good day.

Richard could have thrush, a yeast infection.  Noyt uncommon with all the antibiotics he was on in the hospital andd his suppressed immune system.  It could move to his throat and close off his airway. He should get it checked right away.

We are having a long weekend because of Labour Day, just like you! We celebrate Labour Day just like you: first Monday in September. In Europe and other parts of the world, Labour Day is May 1st and the symbol is Lily of the Valley, usually flowering then...

Where we differ in Canada from the USA is Thanksgiving. Traditionally our growing season  and harvesting ends a month earlier so far north, so our Thanksgiving is mid October, whereas yours is in November.  Plus you have July 4th as your national holiday, here July 1st is our Canada Day.   

Glad that Butch doubg better, keep at him to eat or he will be too skinny to bounce back, he has 2 more chemo sessions or is 6 sessions in total?

Eileen: re Richard's mouth sores and lack of energy, could be anemia from not eating properly....he probably still isn't now he's home. Or as you say there may be something else going on, only blood tests will tell. Hope he gets tested, because his weightloss is of concern medically.

Am doing ok, tonight is my last pre-diet meal with wine.....Tomorrow am on my back to basics diet of protein, non starchy veg and leafy greens, salads with cucumbers and tomatos, broccoli, etc, and non high glycemic fruit , to try and lose ten lbs this month. All healthy stuff. Wish me perseverance!

Afternoon OFF family...getting the apartment cleaned for my son's vistit this weekend...can't wait to see him again!!! Tried moving the couch to a different spot but that didn't work out so back it went to where it was before...lol oh well we tried!!! Looks so nice in here with the new lamp shades I got Saturday!!! WOW no more bird poop on them!!! Gosh that was gross!!!! I put up with that for so long!!!! GRRRRRRR He better not let this one out to fly allover now or else!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what we will do for supper tonight...lots of leftovers yet but gezz I can only eat so much of the same stuff over and over ya know? He won't...brat!!! LOL Mommy dearest has called him a few times already...why hard telling...I stay out if it. I don't care!!!!! She gives me a headache!!!!!

Last night neighbors dog got out again and so did the puppies!!! The mother dog left her "calling card" in our yard!!! OMG the pile was almost as big as Bandit!!! And this dog is only a beagle!!!!!! I called the animal control but ofcourse they are not working....and off today also...but I did leave a nasty message for them about our getting many calls from our tenants about these dogs running around again!!! Nothing I can do!!! Why are they calling us??????? Call the animal control or police!!!!!!!!! DAMIT!!!!!!!!! I also mentioned the "calling card" in our yard!!! So not sure if I will hear from animal control or not tomorrow. Sick of this guys dog getting out ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!! He has several beagles that can climb the fences and get out...now he has puppies!!!!!!!!! Just great!!!!!!!!

Storms for today and tomorrow they said for us...not looking forward to them at all!!!! I did buy a weather radio finally. So far it has not gone off...lol.

Vicki...Butch HAS to eat more or he WILL END UP BACK IN ER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell him that!!!! I know things do not taste good right now but he HAS to EAT and DRINK!!!!!

Eileen glad you had some company!!! Sorry to hear that Richard is not doing better...hope he gets some help soon!!!

Jenn I just got CRS on what you posted...I know you said you had your holiday already...lol but enjoy anyhow...lol I hate when this happens!!!

Hi Judy, wish when we post an answer, we can still see the whole thread and where ours fits in. Actually, was Vickie who said we in Canada had oyr Laboyr Day Holiday already. I got all didactic, but short story is we have ours same date as you, so we too have Labour Day Holiday today, and a 3 day wkend.

Watch out for "minefields" when walking the grass your place...Poop n Scoop or else...you need toget message     through to inconsiderate dog owners!

Looks like you are in for another hectic week at the Funny Farm....

Good afternoon Vickie and everyone......

Vickie....I am glad things are a bit better with Butch. It concerns me that he isn't eating much. I can't blame him but I hope tomorrow will be a better day for him. I hope he is at least getting in his liquids. He can dehydrate so quickly. I suppose by now you have run your errands. I hope you found the yarn you wanted. Do you have your nurse and PT set up again for his week? Still praying and sending loads of love!!! 

Eileen...sorry to hear about Richard. I would be worried too. That doesn't sound good. Still  sending prayers. It sounds like you had a really nice lunch with your friend, Linda and her guy. It was nice of them to stop and visit.

Cindy....lazy is good some days...relax and enjoy your quiet day!!

Jennifer...enjoy you meal tonight...it sounds like you are all ready to change  yourself around starting tomorrow. Good Luck!!

Judy....I am sure Rick's mom wants money or she wouldn't be calling when she is with her wonderful son!! I am sure the new lamps shades look great. Sorry those dogs and their puppies are out running around. That owner sure doesn't seem like he cares much. I hope the worst of the storms miss you!!!

As for me....I just finished doing laundry...I finally got myself motivate to get it done. It is quiet around here today. I figure tomorrow all those ladies that do their laundry on Mondays, will be lined up to do theirs Tuesday. I am still battling pain and depression. I am so tired of feeling so lousy!! Sorry to whine!!
