Happy Friday everyone....what's new with you??
Good afternoon everyone.....
I just got back from lunch so I decided to start the thread as no one else has yet. Oh yeah...Happy 7 year Surgiversary to me!!!!
We have an amazing chef here. The food is always so good. Today I had a huge crab cake. It was the best I ever had!!! I brought 1/2 home for later. He mashed fresh new little red potatoes, we also had fresh grown sweet corn. 1/2 of which I will have with the crab cake for dinner. It was all just wonderful. I usually don't take potatoes but I had to today. He made lemon tarts for dessert. The looked really good but I did pass on that.
I still have my sinus/cold issue but it is getting better. My cough has improved greatly. It just has worn me out. I feel like I could sleep all day. I won't, but I sure could!
Nothing else planned for today. Just relaxing and playing on my computer. If they start a new puzzle today I will go out and join in for awhile. We finished the other one yesterday.
I am praying all is going well with Butch and his Chemo. I also pray that Vickie keeps regaining her strength to help him through this. Love you Vickie and Butch....keep strong!!!!
Wishing you all a gentle day!!!
Prayers for our amazing OFF Family. Sending special prayers to those in need.
Much love and bunches off hugs to you all.....connie d

Hi Connie, Judy and my OFF family:
Connie, happy 7 years! Hope you are feeling better.
Judy, enjoy your holiday.
I love crab cakes, too. I love anything with crab in it.
Not much happening here. At work, so it's a quick check-in. Had a restful day this morning before work for once. I needed that.
Have a good day.
Hello sweet Connie, Judy and Eileen and all the other sistas!
We just got back home. Whew! Such a relief to be out of the car, although it wasn't such a bad trip. We even swung by Christie's house and got Patty Kate. So we are all settled in and cozy again.
Butch is doing well so far! He's tired, of course, but so far no real nausea and no diarrhea. I have all his medications refilled, and a couple of new ones in case he starts that awful vomiting and diarrhea again. I'm much better prepared this time around!!!
We didn't really learn too much about his cancer this trip, other than they all seemed very pleased with how much better he is this time as compared to last month. The blood work all looked really good, too. Now, when we go back in 3 weeks, that's when they'll repeat the bone scans and MRIs and CT scans, etc. to compare with the initial set. That's when we'll really see how well the chemo is working. But just the fact that he's in much less pain now tells them that the tumors are shrinking rather than growing. So PRAISE GOD for that!
I'm doing okay. Tired from all the driving, but other than that, doing fine. Plan to just sit and crochet awhile this evening and go to bed early. The alarms on my phone are set to wake me up when it's time to give Butch his meds, but at this point, I have him on a pretty good schedule: 8 a.m., 4 p.m., 8 p.m., and midnight. That's very doable.
Yummy sounding lunch, Connie! I love crab! Butch was even asking if we could buy some crab legs one night soon. I don't know anyone who doesn't love crab cakes either!
Eileen, hope you are catching up on your rest and gathering your strength. This thing with Richard just about wore you down to a nub. So glad to hear that he's taking the first steps towards self-help and recovery. You have been such a good friend to him! You get the "Angel Who Walks Among Us" award, for sure!
Oh, Judy, my love! The things you put up with. Damn Rick's mom for coming on your holiday weekend anyway. (Sorry, that's kind of harsh, but geez.) He should have just told her not to come right now. But I understand totally. Butch will never tell any of his family not to come either.
Well, sweeties, I'm exhausted and going to find my recliner and plop! I love you all!
Vickie....I am so glad you are back at your own home again!!
It sure does seem like things went so much better this time. I am glad you got the meds if any kind of side effect happens.
Please do just rest and relax this evening. It sounds like the meds are being given on a good schedule. I so want you to get back to a restful nights sleep.
I love you much....HUGS....Prayers....connie d
Dear Connie: I join in with everyone wishing you congrats on your surgiversary.... You beat me by about half a year! Incredible how time flies, had not thought about it but looking at your surgery date, realized am not far behind, next Feb will be my 7th....
Am clearing fridge out of no-no foods ( eating them, yes, I shouldn't, but gave a lot away) and on Tuesday will be back to basics as need to lose 45 lbs regain since beginning 2009. I am feeling fat and uncomfortable craving carbs, in tight clothes stretched to their max, and not buying any clothes until I can fit into all the good clothes already have. In meantime stretchy selection is limited in my wardrobe, but boring repeats is good to kickstart me in right direction. Main kickstart is annual bloodwork I postponed another 3 weeks and my family doctor apt to evaluate bloodwork to end of September. I suspect I am in diabetic territory again because of weight gain, so do not want to go on diabetes meds again ...if at end of month she gets uptight about my glucose readings, I will negotiate another 6 months to lose more weight and see where I am with glucose readings then before agree to go on diabetes meds. They make me so hungry and generally 'off' , not well.
So Tuesday I start lean protein, nonstarchy veg and lots of leafy greens 3 times a day, ( ex egg and spinach, cheese omelet for breakfast, shrimp salad for lunch, and meat and cooked veg for dinner), and two fruits a day ( no starchy high glycemic bananas), 1 coffee and lots of tea and my usual water, no vino, and that usually does get me down in weight and feeling better within a month. Another month or two, with the occasional hiccup because out to dinner, and I really feel good with the weightloss. So please wish me luck with my weightloss plan, I've tried before and usually give up after 10 days...need to stay accountable.
cheers
jennifer
Edited to add: forgot to mention, went today to see movie "The 100 foot journey" with Helen Mirren and Om Purri. Go see it if you can , it's a feel good movie you'll love. May be considered a chick flick, but worth it. My friend *****ad the book said book better, movie faithful but abbreviated and ending is changed or would have added another hour to movie. It all ends well in book, and well but differently as more abbreviated in movie. Go and see a feel goid movie about good foid with many funny moments, and of course a nice romance story.
