Trying Harder Tuesday

Good morning, sistas!

Okay, I always get on here and preach how happiness is a choice.  So, today, Tuesday, I choose to be happy.  I am NOT going to succumb to the blue funk again today.

Butch and I are about to get caught up on our sleep at last.  At least my head doesn't feel like it's filled with concrete today.  We are about to get in a rhythm with his pain meds, too.  The morphine works for about 6 1/2 hours.  He can have one every 8 hours.  So that last hour and a half are rough.  But the dilaudid wasn't helping much.  Instead we've found that 3 advil work much better.  So instead of letting the pain get ahead of him today, I am going to be proactive and give him the advil about 2 hours before his next dose of morphine.  Maybe I can keep him from having that awful break-through pain today.

Talked to MDA nurse--finally--and she is reviewing his medications with the doctor today.  So we might possibly be getting something different for pain anyway.  Also, she said "why did they give you reglan instead of zofran for nausea?"  Well, hell, I don't know.  I filled all of his Rx at the MDA pharmacy before we left Houston.  I do know that the anti-nausea medicine we got didn't work!  She said it was very unusual for her chemo patients to have actual vomiting.  And I thought, well, trust us to be the exception to the rule!

Also he has to have labs drawn here in New Braunfels this week.  She is taking care of calling the orders in for that.

Anyway, he is doing better today and has a bit of an appetite back.  He asked for oatmeal for breakfast.  Last night he said he wanted bacon.  I cooked him 3 slices and he ate maybe half of one.  Didn't actually taste all that good to him.  We'll see if oatmeal tastes better.

So, I will try to do better today.  Trish, I am so, so sorry for the loss of your friend's daughter.  Judy, I equally sorry and mad about the vandalism to your club house!  I'll bet it isn't a resident at all.  I'll bet it's one of those scum bags that keep hanging around.  Stupid jerks.

I love you all!

Good Morning Vickie, and OFF Family,

Vickie, I hope Butch gets the Zofran for his next bout of nausea/vomiting.  Hopefully, that will help.  Glad he's feeling better today.

I am getting ready to tackle the dishes and laundry that needs to be put away.  After that, I'll be working on the baby blanket.

Must scoot.

Hugs,

Trish

Hi Vickie and Trish and my OFF family:

My friends are here! Rox was my college roomie and after college roomie and my best friend ... her daughter Erin is my goddaughter and just turned 13. She's a big girl now ... long-legged and slim. They were down in North Carolina at some kayak competition and Erin did very well. I think she may be considering Junior Olympic level competitions.

They got in around 11 p.m., just about the time I got out of work. We met at Denny's for a snack and then they followed me home. They slept on my aerobed on the living room floor. They're staying overnight but we're not doing a whole lot today ... a little shopping, maybe lunch out and a DVD or something.

Vickie, glad Butch is doing better ... I hope the reglan will help his nausea. The fact he's asking for food is a good thing.

Have a good day.

Afternoon OFF family!!!

Vic Zofran is what the dr gave me when I was taking the oxycontin (not sure if I spelled that right) when I was dealing with my frozen shoulder pain. It would make me sick as heck so I took the Zofran 1/2 hour before the oxy pill and no nausea! So hope that works for Butch!!! Getting his appetite back is wonderful!!! Hope he finds something that tastes good now!!!

We had a huge downpour at 11 this morning and our parking lot flooded and we scrambled to move the vehicles fast!!! It came out of nowhere so fast!!!! Now the sun is out but we could see more pop ups yet today with this cold front coming in.

Eileen glad you have some company there to see you for a coupe days!!! Enjoy them!!

Trish busy as usual...lol

I need to get back to work as I have been home since 10 am waiting for cable to call me to ix my cable boxes!!! My channels kept freezing up or telling us not available!!! BS!!!! I know we get them because I have been watching them in the past!!! Find new shows to watch and then I can't get to see them makes Judy  pissed off woman here...lol

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!

Good afternoon Vickie and everyone......

Vickie...I was so happy to see your post this morning. I had my cleaning lady here so I didn't post at that time. I am so happy that both of you are getting caught up on sleep and even managing the pain some!!!! I hope the Zofran is available soon. With Butch having a bit of an appetite must make you feel better. He will figure out what will work for him and what won't. You are so patient with him. What a sweetheart you are!! Of course I am continuing with prayers. I love you both!!

Judy....I agree with Vickie....I think you have losers coming around at night doing things to make you mad. I will beg you one more time....please get at least one camera. Try it ....out you might catch someone!! Sorry your lot flooded again. Hope the other storms miss you!!

Trish....I am sure by now you got your laundry and dishes put away. NOW...rest a bit!! You run around like crazy!!!

Eileen....I am glad your BFF and your goddaughter made it there to visit. It sounds like you will be laying low for the most part. Hope your knees are not causing you too much pain.  Enjoy your time together.

As for me....what a day....I paid my monthly bills and went down to mail them. I dropped September rent at the office. I try to stay ahead and pay things early. That way if something comes up I will have a little cushion to go on.

Then my cleaning lady came. She came early this time. I never did get my lunch from the kitchen until 4:00. I just now ate some of my turkey burger, I had a veggie and strawberries but wasn't hungry for them. I couldn't even eat all the burger (no bun my choice). My cleaning lady wanted to take me to one of the food shelves that had a senior day today. I got so many fruits and veggies and many other things. There was more I could have taken but I don't eat it. What a nice place....so clean, organized and things were pretty fresh!! I have never been to one before. She recommended I try it...I am glad I did!! My medical insurance went up $86 a month. I have to cut corners somehow. So much for extra money with not having a car. Now it all goes to medical insurance!! I can not win!!!!! Just when I thought I might have a bit extra for me....oh hell...there it goes!!

Wishing you all a great rest of the day.

Prayers for our sweet OFF Family.

Much love and many hugs to all....connie d

Connie I do not understand how they expect people on a fixed income to live!!!! It just ****** me off when hey keep raising everything!!! Guess that is why they go to all the food pantries around here...free food so they can pay their bills!!!!

So far so good on the rain...but still a chance it can happen yet....Rick is watching yet...I give up!!! I can't stop it...

Judy....yes...food shelves are a help. I have never ever been to one. It was very humbling and embarrassing. I felt so bad that I needed to go there. It is only once a month so I have time to think about if I will use it again. I felt really bad when others here noticed I went there. I came in my apartment and cried.

Still praying the rain will not hit you again.

Good night...sweet dreams!!

Love and more hugs....connie d
