Intro to My New Friends
On Friday I joined the OFF group and immediately took off for the weekend. i am back this evening, Sunday, and thought I would do what i was asked to do and that is to introduce myself to you all
I had RNY in Salem, OR on March 18th, 3 days after my 52 birthday. I am a complete Birthday Girl, for me it lasts the entire month of March. But this year my focus was my life-changing surgery on the 18th. Don't get me wrong, I had a lovely birthday---next weekend I am being treated to Cirque de Soleil in Portland OR by my sister, The Dude gave me a wonderful new bike from REI as well as gift cards from Macy's and Nordstrom's so I can get quality transitional clothing. I have loving support from my friends and family and a great attitude.
OK....what else.....I work for the state of Oregon, I love to do 5ks (I walk them for now) and hit the gym a few times a week now. I am an extrovert, I am married to an introvert and I have two grown kids. And a dog, a dog that rescued me. OH! I am an Anthropology student with an emphasis on Cultural Resource Management and Native American studies.
Ummmm........ Please tell me about YOU!
Mary
Hi Mary (my mother's name ). I am Francine or Fran to my friends. I am 60 and had my RNY on Dec 23, 2013. My Christmas gift to my self. I am single an share a townhouse with a friend of 30 years. I have a fellow, and we have a wonderful long distant relationship. I love him dearly, he loves me and we would probably kill eachother if we were together everyday.... lol.
I am on disability for now. My medical situation over the past three years has been complex and a bit crazy. I still need another knee replacement and hope t have next year.
I have just recently started working out at the gym. I have a lot of ortho problems so i am limited in what i can do, but i am trying to be consistent and do a little more each day.
Well, it is past my bed time so i will say good night and welcome.
Blessings,
Francine
Happy 50th! It's a lovely time in life! I turned 52 on 3/15 but this year was far more focused on 3/18 for surgery :) I can say that this journey that gained steam in January of this year is already life-changing, both before and now after surgery. Lots of self-discovery and many many changes.
Stay in touch Lisa...>i will watch your journey unfold

Hello Mary, and welcome!
You have a busy and active life! Which will only improve after WLS and your energy level goes UP! Can you imagine? It's quite wonderful.
I had RNY a little over 3 years ago and I'm quite happy with my results. I never cared so much about reaching a specific goal weight as I did about regaining my health and mobility. Yeah, I'd like to lose another 10 lbs or so, but I'm not going to fret about it. Mostly I just want to be "normal"--whatever that is! LOL! I wear normal sized clothes, I fit into normal sized places (like booths at restaurants and airplane seats), and I can do normal things.
We are happy to have you join us! Please come in and post on our daily thread. We are a safe and loving group, we care deeply about each other, and we'll help you along in your WL journey any way we can.
Hi Mary and WELCOME!!!! Well lets see...I had RNY back in October of 2006 lost about 170 pound gained some back lost some gained some lost some lol trying again to get some off this spring and summer...me thinks my body likes this weight I am at as it seems this is where I get and the weight stops. Sooooo anyhow I am now with the love of my life Rick and loving every minute of it!!! He IS my rock!!!! We both manage an apartment complex which is mainly elderly. We have a few birds and I have a Shih Tzu named Bandit.
So keep joining us everyday and you will get to know us better as time goes on!!!
HUGSSSSSSSS
Hello Mary....so nice to learn a bit more about you. It sounds like you keep very busy and enjoy your life. That is great!!
I had RNY in August 2007. My only complaint is that I didn't have it sooner! My WLS surgeon has moved to another state. I am looking to find a new one soon.
I have two daughters. My daughter, Jamie and her wife, Megan live in Iowa. They got married a year ago last fall. Jamie has two children. Nic will be 21 later this month. He was diagnosed with cancer at 3 years old. There is no cure. Nic goes to college and works 3 part time jobs. He is a fighter and we are so proud of him. I am proud of all my grandchildren of course!! They are wonderful!! Jamie also has my sweet, little cupcake, Gracie. Gracie will be 8 in November. My youngest daughter,Carrie has three children. Greg is her husband and they live around Bloomington, MN. Kyleigh(22) Amanda (20) and Lucas (almost 16) They are the best that anyone could hope for! Kyleigh lives here and is going to college. She lives only about 3 miles from me. Amanda lives in Oregon and is going to college out there. She lives with her boyfriend, Tyler. I just got back from spending almost a month there with them. It was so fun!! Lucas is still in High School. He is my sweetheart!!
I too am on disability. I have COPD, asthma, chronic pain, Fibromyalgia and many other conditions. I am in pain more then not. I am working with my doctor to find the right pain medication.
My life is boring compared to so many of you on here. I do love my awesome OFF family. I am so glad you have joined us!!
