I am sad this morning. Last night some IDIOT hit and KILLED a beautiful dog out front of our complex!! Just as Rick opened the door to go outside to have a smoke we heard a loud noise and I asked what the hell was that??? He came back in and asked me if I heard that noise. YES!! What was it?? He went out to look around and he found this large dog laying in our yard by the road dead!!! OMG!!!!! He came in and told me what he found...I told him to call the police. He did...they came and said it was dead. We KNEW that already...please take it away...we can throw it in the dumpster. NO!!!!!!!!!! I am NOT going to do that!!! This is someone's PET!!!!!!! WTH???? Cop said that is what they do when there is no collar on it. I said it MIGHT have a CHIP in it!!!!! He said he would have streets come for it MONDAY morning to pick it up IF its still here then!!! WTH?????????? It is still laying there this morning and I am heartbroken!!!! I looked already on FB to see if the PD posted the dog being hit and there is nothing there!! I have not seen this dog before in our area so not sure if it got out by mistake or what. I am sad. He has been well fed that is for sure!! He must weight about 120 pounds if not more!!

Anyhow it is cold today and still a bit windy yet. BRRRRRRRR supposed to get up to the 50's so that is good!!

Nothing else happening right now just sad.

Thoughts and prayers for ALL that need them!!!

Good morning Judy....I am so sorry. What a horrible thing to deal with. That poor dog. I hope the owners don't find it like that.

I found a dog like that once. The police came immediately and removed it. Guess things are different here.

Praying for you sweetie...and the family of the dog as well.

I don't have much going on today. My tax guy is coming over and picking up my tax info. He is a good friend of mine. He wanted me to wait until I got back from Oregon to give him the information. He will have it done in a couple days and will bring it back to me.

Most all our snow is gone...YAY!! Only a few of the bigger piles to melt yet. I look forward to green grass again!!

I had a restless night's sleep again last night. I had a lot of nightmares. I feel like I didn't sleep all night! I will get in the shower soon. Maybe that will help!!

Wishing everyone a great day! Nice to see two new people join us. Welcome again Lisa and Mary!!

Much love and many hugs to all.....connie d

Hello All,

I am back from two weeks of back to back conferences.  The first one I flew and stayed in a really nice hotel.  The second, I took a van load of graduate students with me, so we drove (they could not have gone if they had to pay for a flight) but the conference was in Baltimore and it took us forever to get there.  We drove through a blizzard and one of the kids took a wrong turn and we ended up going through DC at morning commute time.  But, we had a good time.  We spent a week seeing Baltimore, eating good food, and learning a little here and there.  On our way home, on a stretch of highway that had no houses near and bumper to bumper traffic, we saw two puppies that someone had abandoned on the side of the road.   Of course, we couldn't stop and get them, so we looked for an exit, turned around, drove back, and pulled off the side of the road where we saw them and we called and called but I guess someone had beat us to the rescue.   Sometimes I hate humans.   Then, on the other side of Indianapolis, someone had tossed a sack of kittens in the medium between the busy highway.   We pulled over and so did a cop, so the cop very gently collected the kittens up into his arms and we had some pieces of lunch meat that we fed them and they were hungry and the cop said, I'm takin' them to my mama's.   She'll take care of them and find them good homes.   I have him money for cat food and litter.   Poor babies.    It is better to just kill the animals than toss them out to suffer the elements and injury and starvation.   I am so happy someone claimed the dog's body.

Now that the cold and snowy weather has passed, I am back to walking both in the gym and on the walking trail.  I have to tell you that the really cold weather prevents me from doing too much.   Since I cannot park close to the gym door, I end up walking about a half a mile and my asthma reacts in this cold weather.   So, I am left doing Yoga and a little walking up and down the stairs.

Well, I finally succumbed to my doctor's request and had the allergy tests that are required before I could start taking the allergy shots.   My allergy doc said she has never in all her years of practice seen someone with so many allergies.  Well, I had the tests done years ago and was on allergy shots for years and thought I was better.   So, I was scheduled for my first set of shots on Wed., but I got stung by a wasp and did the epipen since I have that horrible anaphalactic reaction, so when I went in for my shots, the doc said, have you had any allergy reactions since the last time you were here and I said, just the normal, some hives that responded to benadryl, swollen lips and tongue that responded to the antihistamine inhaler, and oh yeah, I was stung by a wasp and did the epipen.   She said, we have to wait another week.  Dang.   I just want to stop the itchy eyes, the runny nose, and the hives that I get every single season change.

Vickie, I am so happy that you are pleased with the PS.  I really want to have it done but I am so afraid of being put to sleep again.   The last time, I ended up on a respirator and I am a little afraid of pushing my luck.   But, when I get to the Middle East, I am going to reconsider going to the big PS clinic in Dubuai and having some things done...a few things like my thighs and arms.   I have a huge hernia in my abdomen that my doctor has begged me to get fixed and he said that if I get it fixed, they can do a complete tummy tuck too so I might have that done before I leave.   Before I had WLS, I had a Pannectomy done because I had already lost a couple of hundred pounds and my belly hung to my knees...and the pain from that surgery killed me.   I was in the hospital for two days, and for a week, I couldn't walk upright.   I am happy to hear you are doing so well.

Well, today no kids and no hubby.   They have ball games and hubby is working so I am spring cleaning.   I have the kitchen done and have started the living room/sewing corner.   LOL.  I went from a huge sewing room that had shelves and a closet and room for my three machines and tons of yarn and material and patterns to a corner in the living room with my bedroom closet also being the place where I store stuff.

I hope you guys have a good day.

Hi Jeanne and WELCOME BACK!!

You sure lead an exciting life...good for you!! I love hearing about your adventures.

Sorry you can't get anything for allergies yet. I have been just miserable this spring. I was really sick in Oregon as everything was budding and people kept mowing their grass! Here it is just starting. I would be crazy without my allergy and asthma meds! I hope you can get them soon!

WOW what a long trip with the grad students. Glad you had a fun time!

People are so cruel to animals. They should be treated the same way with no way to fend for themselves. That makes me so angry!!

Have a wonderful day my dear friend!!

Much love and many hugs....connie d

Hi Judy, Connie, Jeanne, and all my OFF sistas!

Judy, I'm so sorry about the old man and his dog.  That's just awful.

I'm not getting a lot done today.  Or yesterday.  Or the day before that.  Mostly I just sleep.  I get started on a project, work about 15 minutes or so, and then I have to lie down again.  I know, I know--I have to heal.  But it's hard to ignore my house when it looks like this!

I am making progress on my closet.  It's not finished, but it's getting better.  And bless Roomba's little heart!  My floors are semi-clean, but desperately need to be mopped/Swiffered/whatever you call it these days.

Mostly though, I feel rather limited as to what I can do because of this damn drain!  Oh, I will be so glad to get it out on Tuesday!  I really can't stand to wear underwear or pants right now.  So I've been going around in a nightgown for the past several days.  LOL!  I wear a cami under it, so I have something to pin the bulb on the end of the drainage tube to, but I just schlep around here in my nightie 24/7.  I'm ready to be WELL again!  It is not my nature to do nothing.

Butch is working constantly on some project or other these days, only none of them are the things that I want done!  Ha!  He's working hard on building another vegetable bed in the back yard.  Okay.  But WHY?  We're going to miss the best growing month for veggies in Texas.  Instead he could be finishing up any one of a half dozen unfinished projects in the house, but I don't say anything.  It's his retirement.  Let him enjoy it.

We have to go in and help Chris out this evening.  She hired a babysitter for today (Saturday) while she is at work, but she's sick and really needs to be home in bed.  I have to give her her due.  She rarely ever calls in sick.  That kid works.  But she needs a hand with the boys tonight so she can rest.  Mike is working tonight, so she would be there all alone with them.  We can go in and fix their supper, etc., while she rests.

Y'all remember my mom sent me $100 with a get well package?  I spent it!  I ordered some very nice looking linen capris and a linen tunic top to take on vacation.  (I didn't remember linen being so expensive, you know?)  I sunburn so easily, I always have to make sure I have some "cover up" clothes along with me.  So the top has 3/4 sleeves, even though it will be quite warm in Belize in May.  And the capris can unroll to almost full length pants.

I mentally pack and unpack my suitcase all day long!  We've both agreed to take just one carry-on bag with us for this trip, so we don't have to check any luggage.  We have a very tight connection in Atlanta!  We'll pick up a cheap piece of luggage to check on the flight back.  I know we'll be buying lots of stuff while we are there, but we're starting out light to begin with.  I will wear a long skirt on the plane, so I'll have one "dressy" outfit along with me.  I'm looking forward to buying some local clothing while we are there.  I hope they'll have something that will fit me!  I'm so freakin' tall compared to most native women.

Judy!  Quit fussin' at me on FB!!!  I mean it!

Well, I need to go GET SOME MORE WORK DONE.  Ha!  Love you all!

Hi Vickie....I am glad you rested as you needed to.

Guys and their put-zing around. They are so sidetracked so much of the time!!

I am sure you look real comfy in your nightie all day. I would do the same but I always have someone at my door since I got back. I just wear leggings and a t-shirt for now!

I don't know what is wrong with me today. I am so tired I just feel drugged. I hope tomorrow is a much better day! I am going to try to get to bed earlier tonight. It seems like I wake up so much earlier at home.

Nook time now....have a good evening with the boys!

Love and oodles of hugs sweetie....connie d
