Happy Wednesday!
Where is everyone? I don't often get to start a daily thread. But here I am.
I had a caudal epidural injection yesterday for my back. Because my appointment wasn't until 12:45 p.m., it kind of killed the whole day. When I got out, I felt my left side was numb from my butt down. I could walk fine, but it felt weird. And I had problems having a bowel movement (sorry ... TMI). That did go away as the day went on, thankfully. But I've never had that experience. I don't know if the doc got the shot down too far or what. Something I'll have to ask him when I see him in a couple of weeks (if I remember).
After the shot, my friend Richard drove me to Starbucks (I had a freebie coming) ... I had wanted to go out for lunch, but I just didn't feel all that great and just wanted to go home. So he took me home (in my car ... he doesn't have a car) and then he drove himself home. Today, he'll come back in my car and maybe we'll go out for lunch. I feel better today although sleepy ... but that's not all that different.
Not doing a whole lot else. I got up at 7 a.m. so I've already done laundry. Too early for me to be up. Hope everyone is good. Have a good day.
Hi All my OFF friends.
Eileen, I was wondering the same thing when i checked in about 20 minutes ago, but i needed breakfast and COFFEE (my morning jump start for my heart.. lol).
Now, i am off to the gym.
Glad you had you injection. I had to have RFA on 3 kevels both sides of my lumbar sacral spine after 6 epidural steriod injections.
Well, i will check back later.
Hope every one has a blessed day.
Good afternoon Eileen , Twinkie and everyone....
Eileen....it is quiet on here today. Yesterday too. I hope everyone is okay! I had that numbness after a couple of my injections too. My knee even gave out a few times. It got better after a while. The injections sure were helpful!
I am just now getting up and it is almost noon!! I was so exhausted. I am not sure if I am staying at my daughter's again tonight. I will if I don't start feeling more awake soon. I had the best trip. I loved my time with my Amanda and Tyler too!! I will talk more about it when I am not so darn sleepy!!
I missed you all so much. I just couldn't post. I did read all the posts!! I will be better at replying when I get home and have my own computer!! I don't mind Carrie's but it is an Apple and so different from mine. Better then no internet!! I could have went to the library and used Amanda or Tyler's laptop computer but they had no mouse...I just can't go without a mouse!! I spend most of the time making corrections!! I am just not a computer wiz!!
Prayers for all our wonderful OFF family. I did keep up with the prayers!!
Much, much love....and bunches of hugs to all....connie d
Hi Eileen, hope you feel relief soon. You often sound like such a bundle of pain, and others here too, that I wonder at the stamina you all show. I feel wimpy compared to so many of you strong ladies.
Connie, glad to see you posting...and Twinkles too.
Today went to my GP and reminded her was due for annual bloodwork, and had to fight to get her to include calcium levels as my bones are incredibly dense. Up until now she has relied on me to tell her what I need post wls but this is the first time since my surgery at annual bloodwork time have had to insist on something she feels not necessary....Last year my bloodwork, with calcium supplementation, was excellent. This past month have slacked off on the calcium as I want to see if any effect on my blood levels in view of my super dense bones. Will wait another few weeks before doing the blood tests as starting on my cancer hormonal daily pill tomorrow, and want things to settle down more. Still have the radiation rash and want that to settle down too. The Letrozole (anti-tumor agent) I will be taking for at least 5 years is known to leach bones of their calcium so will be taking calcium supplements for sure as "maintenance" for my bones.
Got some bad news: seems my doctor is quitting in a year's time, just when I am getting older and have increased health problems. Its very hard to find another doctor taking new patients, and she has been mine for over 35 years! More and more free walk-in clinics are popping up, but you never see the same doctor and there is no regular follow-up on any chronic problem. A colleague's stage 4 cancer was missed by just such a walk-in clinic and found too late. I'm ok being my own vocal advocate for now, but don't like what I see ahead if I cant get a GP to take me on full-time as a patient. Doctors are retiring and there's a shortage of general practitioners.
A bit stressed, craving carby things, made myself some linguine with heavy cream, tomato pesto and smoked salmon and fresh chives and cilantro. It was delish, but good thing I can only eat a very small, portion, about a quarter of what I could eat before wls, so the rest went into a container into the freezer for some other carby treat, hopefully months from now. Tomorrow will have a salad with shrimp for lunch, back on the straight and narrow.
Tomorrow will be a better day, hope it will be for you too!
Jennifer
Well, jeez, Jennifer, you have cancer to battle, you are not a wimp! I just have chronic pain. It's there and I deal with it. Pop a pill, throw on some ice at the end of the night, yell ow, ow, ow every move I make (drive my coworkers crazy, but you know, they deserve it, especially ... as he would put it, a certain young someone).
I had leftover salsa chicken for dinner; my friend who brought my car back didn't want to go out to lunch. Not a problem; I had a lot of extra food.
I got this thing called Push 2TV ... supposed to be able to push your mobile shows from your phone to your TV; haven't been able to figure it out. Wasn't able to upload the upgrade to the firmware. It wasn't compatible to my system. Don't know how to upload to my phone. I may have to go back to Verizon and ask how to do it. I'm not tech-stupid, but this just didn't work.
Have a good night, Jennifer.
Hello Jennifer.
I am so glad you are doing somewhat better. I am happy you are having all those levels checked. Watch that calcium closely!
Your meal sounds amazing!!! I freeze a lot of food too!
My medical doctor is so good about running all my WLS tests. Sorry your doctor will be leaving. I have lost my WLS surgeon. He moved way out of state to be nearer his wife's family. I have also lost my pulmonary and rheumatoligist doctors. I just found new ones just before my trip. Both of the others moved too.
Have a good night!! Still keeping you in my daily prayers.
Love and more hugs....connie d
