Eileen...once the spine is back to NORMAL you go when you need to...but right now you are not normal...would you like the info that I got from my dr on fibro? I can make copies and send it to you. I think if I were you I would have your spine checked again if your insurance covers it and keep going back...

Thanks, but no, I'm sure it's the same as stuff I've gotten from the three chiros I've seen (three states, three chiros). Actually, the mechanical traction really helped me more than anything. I will go back next week because I think I need it. I can tell when I need it.

Eileen,

I have several vertebrae in my neck and back that were either broken or cracked when I wa**** by the drunk driver all those years back.   And, as a result of all the test that they have done, surgery to put my back together right after the wreck, and yearly exams, they found that the rheumatoid arthritis has caused a condition named anklysoing spondylosis (I'm sure I misspelled that).  Anyway, my back hurts me so badly sometimes that after trying everything possible, I end up going to my neruo doctor and he will send me straight to the hospital for injections right into the back, which I hate.   All my doctors tell me to stay the hell away from the chiropractors and massage folks because they will mess up my back.  I even went to a chiro who is a friend of my sisters and he knew about my back problems so he ordered X-rays first and said to me, there is no way I am touching your back.   He said chiro and massage folks can only help people who have muscle soreness that true bone and nerve damage cannot be helped by deep massage that they give.  He also said that the manipulations they do are simply deep pressure that is meant to relax the muscle...but they do not align your spine.  That is one of the false selling points of the industry: come in and get an adjustment.   If you talk to the medical professionals, they will say that the massages they give are good only for soft tissue damage but that they can do more damage than good.   A good physical therapists under the direction of an orthopedic or a neurologists can do more good for you than a chiro.   But you know what works for you and what doesn't.  You are probably like me: afraid to get the old back flared up.   I do find that stretching does wonders so that is why Yoga works so well with me, but I do not do anything that will make my condition worse.

The woman I work with doesn't claim to work miracles on anything but my spine. She doesn't say it cures anything else but the pain in my back. The time I had the really bad pain, she correctly diagnosed some herniation. When I went to the back doc, he said the same thing. She did an adjustment and ultrasound; he prescribed steroids (she said they would). She is friends with the back doc, serves on the Arthritis Board with him.

Hi Ladies!  I've been MIA for a few days, but back again.  Good things happening.

First though -- Congratulations Jennifer!!!  Hope you gave that bell a few extra tugs as you were leaving!!  What wonderful news - so happy for you.

Vickie - I'd stick something into your shrinking hole so you can have the PS!!    But then again, you have been through a lot, so maybe not.

My news?  Well, SO has gotten himself a room near Boston and will be moving April 1st.  It's a relief for both of us.  Basically, he's a good person, but his life situation, if you want to call it that, had changed him.  Maybe we're co-dependents, but after he moves, I will start therapy.  So, I will have my place back soon and can carry through on my projects.  I am so looking forward to cleaning and getting a dumpster to get rid of all the crap, etc.

Also, daughter and I and Taylor have been invited to a shin-dig in NY.  My niece had a baby and is having her baptized in April and having a reception afterwards.  It's on a Sunday afternoon, and I' hoping I can talk Maura into staying overnight in a motel so we can drive back Monday morning.  It's a 4-5 hour drive (a short trip for Carla, but not for us).  Maura will do the driving, which thrills me, as I'm sick of doing all the driving (SO is only a front-seat driver as he has no license!).

I'm getting a daybed for the living room.  Right now I have a broken down futon - and I mean broken down!  Will be glad to see that out the door.  Went to some consignment and thrift shops today and saw lots of good things - but won't buy anything until May when there are yard sales and moving sales galore.  I am not opposed to buying "used" - when people are moving they practically give things away because it costs so much to hire a moving company.

My mind is spinning - I feel like the next few months will be a turning point for me, and it's very exciting.  So tired of sitting around looking at things I'd like to do - now I know I'll be able to get up and do them!

I could go on and on!

My dad would never buy a secondhand bed ... some things are OK secondhand, but a mattress, never. Spend the money and get a good one. Even a daybed deserves a good mattress. I agree with Jennifer about bedbugs (and my dad threw out the crappy twin mattress my alcoholic uncle bum ... not his name, btw, just what we called him ... slept on when we housed him and my grandma when their house burned down when I was in college). Someone picked it out of the trash, but my dad wouldn't let any of us sleep on it.

Hi Mary, what I was going to post has been said by Judy re bed bugs....prior to bed bugs, you had to sniff real close when buying second hand to make sure you were not buying something pooped on or peed on by kids/pets, and smell can come back despite some quick cleaning on part of seller.  These days bed bugs are the big danger with anything  "furniture" secondhand.

Be very careful! ( and yes, gave the bell a few extra rings, still celebrating!)

Greetings Judy and OFF,

Sorry I'm late.  Had a crazy busy day.  Didn't get to the zoo, because I'm back to taking double doses of diuretics again.  My feet look horrible.

I stripped my bed, and did some cleaning in the kitchen.  Not crazy about missing the zoo, but I have been in and out of the bathroom all day.

Tomorrow, I have church, and then more cleaning.  I will get back to the YMCA again.

Natalia is doing a bit better.  Her Mommy posted the most adorable pic of her on her Timeline, and announced that she was taken off the oxygen.

Hugs,

Trish
