Aloha from long lost sistah!!

Aloha my friends.......it has been SO LONG since I posted on here, and I am so very very happy to be back!! My story is long, and I'll try and make it shortish so that you don't get bored.

Basically I have left Maui and am temporarily living with my son, DIL, and three little grandsons, Brock (9), Brady (7) and Zane (5.) I came to Calif. just before Christmas on an emergency medical situation and it looks like I'm going to be staying here in Santa Cruz area. I have a lot of family in the area and friends from before when I used to live here.

I left Maui in a hurry and with only a suitcase and not much else. Needless to say, there are a lot of loose ends that need tying up. For example I'm now trying to get my car shipped to Calif. and the shipping company is giving me trouble because my title to the car is in my safe deposit box and they need that to ship the car. Sigh. Leaping through a lot of hoops. Also, my condo is sitting just as I left it, not being used and needing to be emptied out so I can either rent it or sell it. So you see, my life has gone from being one of peacefull and serenity, to one of go-go-go being surrounded by people all the time.

It was wonderful to finally get hooked up to the internet...my Maui friends sent my computer and my son hooked me up. I'll try to stay up with all of you now, and am so thankful to have this connection to my "past." My weight hasn't gone up since surgery in 2006......still have lost 165 lbs. and seem to be able to maintain that without too much trouble. Being sick has kept the weight off, too.

Now going to go watch Olympics with kids.......loving that each evening.

Wish I could send you all a big hug and a thank you for all the years of TLC.

With so much aloha,

OXOX

Maui Karen (well.....now it's Santa Cruz Karen!)

Aloha Karen and my OFF sistas!

Oh, Karen, it is GOOD to hear from you!  I wondered what was going on last night on FB.  You were on the fence about moving back to the mainland for so long.  I guess God just took that decision right out of your hands, huh?  I wish you much success (and little frustration) getting your affairs in order and getting your car back!

Connie, girl, you just crack me up!  Wearing capris and open windows in 40 degree weather???  When it's in the 40's here, I'm in a COAT!  Tee hee!  I suppose it's all a matter of perspective huh?  I'm glad you are feeling better and hope today is a big improvement over yesterday.

As for me, I am feeling better today.  Which is good, since I have a lot to do today.  I now have an appointment with a hemotologist on Friday morning.  My OB doctor just insisted we do a follow-up to find out why I had all that internal bleeding after my hysterectomy.  She said that was really quite unusual and we need to find out why it happened.  Grrrr.  I'm tired of doctors!  But I know she is right and better that I do it now while I still have the good health insurance.  So the hemotologist sent me a 10 page patient history to fill out!  Really??  TEN pages?  I need to print it and fill it out this morning.

I also am determined to get my website transfered to the new host today.  Got to do it.  There's bound to be a way.  I just need a computer person on the phone who will be patient with me and walk me through it step by step.

And then this afternoon, Butch and I are going into San Antonio to meet my friend Lisa and her husband Bruce.  Oh, I am so excited to finally get to meet her in person!  We are going to pick them up at their B&B and take them to the Buckhorn Museum and Saloon.  Both Butch and Bruce are hunters and they will enjoy seeing all the stuffed animals there.  Oh, excuse me, "Wildlife Exhibits", not stuffed animals!  LOL!  Then we'll go out to eat somewhere on the Riverwalk.  Afterwards, Butch and I thought we might treat them to a carriage ride around old downtown San Antonio.  Very romantice thing to do!

Still waiting to hear back from the seller on our house deal.  Nothing new to report there yet.  But, geez, I hope it goes through!  This morning I was lying in bed with the pillow pulled over my head to block out all the noise (and chaos) of Chris and family trying to get out the door.  I just keep telling myself, "Only a couple more weeks, Vickie!"  All I know is Thank God for Prozac!

So, I'd better get started on my day.  It was good to hear from Eileen yesterday.  We miss you when you don't post, sista!  Hoping that Carla has safe travels today.  Hoping that Trish is feeling better from her sinus attack.  Jennifer, praying that you are having a good day and the neighbor from hell is quiet today.  Mary G, you are right about me missing my boys when they move, but yes, we'll be able to go get them easily and bring them for overnight visits to Mimi and Papaw.  (And I can spoil them to my heart's content without their Mama watching over me!)  Judy, prayers for better weather for you and Rick for a change!  I know I'm missing someone, but can't think who.  Whoever you are, you know I love you!

In fact, I love you ALL!

Vickie....I really was wearing capris and short sleeves...window wide open most of the day...LOL!!

Today it has been snowing and sleeting all day. We are now in a blizzard. Snow won't stop until at least noon tomorrow. We have a lot!!! In Minnesota...the weather changes on the spot....it is so crazy!! Tomorrow it will be a mess outside!! Glad I don't have to shovel or plow!! My friend Jeff, he lives here too, always goes out and cleans off my car each morning when it snows. I have known him for years. A really nice man. In fact he was a client of mine for a long time.

I am glad you doctor is having you follow up on that bleeding. I think that is important. I know you are tired of doctors but hang in there sweetie!!

Hope you got someone to help you get your site moved to another one.

Thanks...I am feeling much better today. It is so much nicer when you can feel your fingers!!

Praying you hear good news about the house.

Love and many hugs....connie d

Good morning Maui Karen and everyone....

I have been thinking so much about you lately. I had a feeling you were in California. I pray for you always. I just stopped and sent up another special prayer as well.

I hope all gets worked out with your car and your apartment. I wish I had $$ I would rent that place and be there NOW!!

I am very concerned at how sick you were. God Bless my sweet, sweet friend. I am always here for you. PM me at anytime.

You know you mean the world to me!! Love you my dear friend!!

As for me....finally I can feel my thumbs and fingers today...YAY. It sure made dressing a bit easier that is for sure!! Not too much pain either. I hope this is the end of all these procedures for a long time!

I don't plan on much today. I still will be taking it a bit easy. I know better then to overdo to fast. I do plan on getting back to my walking routine. I have been walking the halls here and into the next building. I have to do something!!

Prayers for so many of our wonderful OFF family. I love you all so much!!

Wishing you a beautiful day. I am here for any of you at anytime!!

Hi Karen -- Hope things settle down for you soon and you find serenity!  Sounds like you have a lot going on.

Vickie -- Good Luck on your computer work today.  I can't even post links or bring in pictures from other sites.  A real computer dummy.

Connie -- Glad you're feeling better - you've been through a lot.

Quiet here.  I did get a call about my "at-home" sleep test.  I go on Tuesday to pick-up the equipment and then return it on Wednesday.  Then I have a follow-up with the doctor on May 5th.  Then I think I'm all done and will get to see surgeon.  U less the test doesn't reveal sleep apnea - then I can move forward sooner.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Aloha Karen, and OFF Family,

I'm late again.  Long, insane day.  First, I watched Frankie for about an hour.  Then, I headed to my final iron infusion.  As I was leaving Colleen's, the snow started coming down like crazy.  The highway was at a crawl.  I saw three cars that slid off the highway, and a car hit a transit bus, in a very short span of time.  When I went in for my infusion, it was snowing, when I came out, it was raining, and the temps had climbed to 36.  It's supposed to go to 49 degrees before this day is over.

Karen, welcome back to the Mainland.  I hope the hoops get taken care of soon, so you can get your car, and belongings.  I lived in Monterey for a year.  Isn't Santa Cruz just north of there, on the other side of the bay?

Connie, I'm glad you are feeling better today.

Vickie, I hope you hear about the house soon.  I've been seeing a hematologist for years, first because of my clotting disorder, now, because I'm on Coumadin, and anemic.

Mary, it sounds like things are falling into place for you.

I wasted an entire hour trying to reach Social Security, because I need to fill out a document, and I have a few questions about it.  First, I sat on hold, waiting for a representative, then got disconnected.  Then, I waited for 45 minutes, and got disconnected.  I'm ticked, so I sent an email on the website.

I'm exhausted, and still have stuff to do.

Love and Prayers,

Trish

Trish....I am so glad you got to have your iron infusion.

The weather here has been sleet and snow until about noon...now we have a blizzard. Lots of snow so far. It won't stop until at least noon tomorrow....oh joy!!

I hate dealing with Social Security on the phone or internet. We have a main office here and I go there. It ends up being much faster. Hope you get the answers you need.

Hugs and love....connie d

Aloha, Karen ... were you sick or someone in your family? I think I'm missing something.

Taking a break here at work while I wait for the last piece of the puzzle that is A1. We were supposed to get big storms here tonight but it didn't happen, thankfully. Just some rain and wind. Now, west and south of us, it was worse, but in Evansville, everything was silent. So we had a peaceful night at work, more or less.

I'm kinda dragging tonight ... usually am on Thursday (my Monday). Don't know why, I slept enough.

Hope all will be well with you.
