Friday in Michigan
Hi Jody,
Welcome back. I'm Trish, retired Grandma, living in Michigan. I discovered OH in June 2006, and had my surgery in August 2006. Not sure how long I've been on OFF.
I hope you'll check in regularly.
Hugs,
Trish

Well, I got a so-so report from the Wound Care Center this afternoon. My wound is closing--that's the good news. But, it's not healing up from the bottom fast enough--that's the bad news. The top and sides are trying to close up, but the wound has to heal from the bottom, and mine is way too deep still. The doctor likened it to a tube. So we're going to try one more week using the current method, and then if there's not an appreciable difference in the depth of my wound next week, he's going to put me on a wound vac. Has anyone ever had one of those? How is it? Will I be able to travel to South Padre Island with it, you think? I don't want it to screw up my mini-vacation!
Looked at more houses this afternoon. We have spent a fortune in gasoline driving around looking at houses this month. Still nothing too promising on the market yet.
I drove today. I did all right, but now my tummy is awfully sore. I'm going to lie down while Budder is sleeping. Butch and I have the boys tonight since Chris is closing. Generally speaking, he takes Benny and I take Budder, and we do all right for a few hours. At least it's not a school night and we don't have to mess with baths and early bedtime. I say, let 'em be dirty on Friday nights! LOL!
Love you all!
Hi Vickie....sorry the wound isn't healing the way the doctor was hoping. I know absolutely nothing about a wound vac. Hopefully somebody here will. Have you checked the internet yet? More prayers on the way!
I so want you to find a house for Chris and the boys. Mike must be working tonight too. Hope you and Butch can get them to sleep early enpugh so you have some quiet time. Glad it wasn't bath night!!
Hugs and love....connie d
Vickie,
Two years ago, after two weeks in the hospital, and leg surgery, I had a wound on my shin, the size of a silver dollar. When I was discharged, there was talk about the possibility of a wound vac. The visiting nurse opted to try three days a week cleaning, and packing in the beginning. She started caring for me in the middle of January, and did not discharge me from home care till the end of March. I spent those two and a half months with my leg elevated, and resting. No church, no grocery shopping. Minimal cooking. It was excruciating to stand for more than ten to fifteen minutes at a time. I only went outside to go to doctor's appointments, or the lab for my PT/INR.
I remember Colleen called me in the middle of February, to see if I'd be well enough to travel here, to watch the kids during the day, so she could finish teaching, before she went on maternity leave with Frankie. Trent was out of town each week. I purposely stayed off my feet, to heal faster. I still can't believe I had the energy to keep up with those kids when I got there.
Be patient, and rest. Healing takes time and patience.
Love,
Trish

Hi Everybody -- and Welcome Jody!
Went out to the dump today, then had to stop at the bank. It was so nice I wanted to stay out. Decided to get my hair cut -- love my new "do". My long hair was always getting tangled - now I just have to add some mousse and run my fingers through my hair. Easy-peasy.
Looking forward to Sunday - will now be babysitting my granddaughter on Mondays and Tuesday, her mom will drop her off on Sunday afternoons. What a joy.
Have a great day all!
Still learning. Currently in pre-op stage.
