Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
Good morning sistas!
Well, my family tells me that I look better today. I hope so! I'm ready to start improving. Dr. appointment at 11 a.m. Please pray that he decides to take me off the IV antibiotic and let me go on the oral antibiotics. Then I can get this last tube out of my arm! It's psychological, but I hate the idea of this thing being run up my arm and around to my heart.
I am so worried about our little Patty Kate! Butch has taken her to the vet right now. I didn't know if she was going to make the night or not! She was wheezing and hacking like she had maybe swallowed something and it was obstructing her airway. All night long. I barely slept any. Butch didn't get much sleep either. I'm very anxious about her.
Got interrupted. Time to get ready to go to the doctor now. Post more later.
Good morning Vickie and everyone.....
Vickie....I am praying the tube is removed today!! I hate those things although they sure so the job getting those antibiotics into you. They just make everything else so much harder to do. So sorry about Patty Kate. I hope the vet can help her. I just sent up a prayer for her. If you family says you look better today that is a good sign! Prayers that your appointment goes well and that you keep improving every day.
As for me....I see my pain doctor today. Just a follow up visit after my last surgery. Because of my move and Nic's appointments I had to reschedule twice.
It has warmed up a bit today. -16 degrees with a wind chill temp of -20. The sun is shining brightly so that helps cut the bitterness some.
Wishing you all a beautiful day!!
Prayers for many of our OFF family today. God Bless you all.
Lots of love and oodles of hugs to all....connie d

Hi Ladies - Best wishes to all for a Haooy and Healthy New Year!
I'm 62 years old, and have been obese mist of my life. Started looking into WLS about five years ago, but my employer changed their insurance by adding a WLS exclusion to lower their premiums. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago I went on Social Security Disability and now have Medicare and a Medicare Supplemental policy - so I've got the coverage. My SO is opposed to the surgery, and he managed to talk me out of it last year. But now I've made the decision to stand firm and go for it. It's my body, my health. He doesn't take care of his own health - why should I let him try to control mine? My body is failing me, and I've got to get healthy. I can hardly walk (use a cane, and walker is on order). I've got problems with my back, hips, knees and legs, high blood pressure and heart disease. I'm hoping the surgery will help me with my mobility issues - I have a beautiful daughter and a wonderful granddaughter, and I want to be able to do things with them. Right now, I go to their house and sit on the couch when I visit - and when it's time to leave my daughter has to help me off the couch. I'd rather be taking them out, going to the beach or on picnics, etc.
I've been posting mostly on the General board and the Sleeve and RNY boards. I'm about half-way through the pre-op stage, and hope to have surgery around March. Originally going for RNY, but from what I've been reading, seems like the Sleeve may be better for me due to pain meds I need to take -- will make final decision when I meet with surgeon.
Last week, when the site was having issues, my picture, profile, etc. were corrupted -- will reload picture once I figure it out again.
In the meantime, hope you all enjoy this cold, cold day! I had to get another oil delivery yesterday because its been cold here in Massachusetts - the furnace keeps clicking on. $$$$
Still learning. Currently in pre-op stage.
Good Morning Mary and Welcome to OFF (Over Fifties Forum or Family as we are known to say).
We love having new members. Please feel free to join in on our daily thread. You can reply or post on the thread any time day or night. It has been quiet here around the holidays. Hopefully more will be back and posting daily again!! Don't be a lurker...join in!!
I am glad you will be pursuing that weight loss surgery. You sound like a excellent candidate for it!! I had RNY 7+ years ago. My only regret was not having it sooner. I can now walk without assistance. Most times. I do need a cane now and then. I was in a wheel chair with oxygen!! I have no more oxygen, no more diabetes, or high blood pressure and on and on. I am so glad to have a so much better life. I still have horrible chronic pain with arthritis and Fibromyalgia. That too is better then it once was.
I wish you the very best!! Don't be shy just jump right in!!!!
Sit down.....put your feet up....enjoy a beverage... and post along with us!!
Ask any and all questions...you can say anything on here...someone here if not all will have answers for you or will try to find them!!!
