Up early and can't sleep Tuesday
Good morning my sistas!
Oh, why is it that when you CAN sleep in, you can't? I've been awake since 5 a.m. Finally gave in and got up at 6 a.m. Argh.
Mom is usually up by around 5 or 6 a.m., but I guess she's sleeping in this morning. Funny.
I am hoping for a phone call from Butch today. We missed our usual Sunday morning call because I was travelling. I miss his rough and gravelly ol' voice. I miss him. Sigh. Two more weeks.
Don't know what we might do today. Mike is here for the day, so it would be a good day for Mom and I to go somewhere. I would like to buy a new Christmas tree for this year. We might go look at Garden Ridge and Hobby Lobby today. And there are some antique and resale shops that we might poke around in. This is my last week of freedom before I start babysitting full time. I'd better make the most of it, huh?
The rain continues, for which I am most grateful. A whole week of rain after a long summer of drought is wonderful.
Well, no news to tell this morning. Just wanted to say "hi" to everyone. Love you all!
Vickie-
If Mike is there then you are definitely going to go out and enjoy yourself with your Mom for the day! Sorry you couldn't sleep but know how it is when you wake up and can't go back to sleep. I've learned that it's best to get up and start the day rather than toss and turn.
Sunny today and I will be loading the rooftop carrier today. Also have to sandwich some quilts today come hell or high water. I went to sandwich yesterday and couldn't get the fabric to cooperate. Oh well, I don't quilt well under a deadline.
Not much else is new in Maine. I forced myself to get on the elliptical machine and painfully worked through 60 minutes. I had not worked out since last Tuesday as my sciatica had flared. I think I've learned enough about this WLS journey to know that exercise is critical to ongoing forward progress.
So with that I will close and begin my day. Positive thoughts to all of you, especially Jennifer who is meeting with her surgeon today.
Cindi
Just back from surgeon, I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in Situ, and will be getting surgery in 3 weeks although no date yet.
I have opted for a lumpectomy but have been told that if "no clean edges" and is determined by lab analysis to be more aggressive than the biopsy indicates, I may/will gave to go to another durgery for Mastectomy. Both are day surgeries with general anaesthetic, but mastectomy being longer to recover from. Final staging of cancer will be done after lumpectomy is analyzed but expected from biopsy samples to be stage 2-3.
Surgeon says I can change my mind and opt for mastectomy after thinking it over the next few days. With a lumpectomy, cancer may come back same place in a few years.....so maybe a mast'y is the way to go. I will have to think and Google a lot to do my research, although was given a lot of literature and a CD today, and am booked for a pre-op education session next week.
Moving right along...although today is not a good day.
Jennifer
Do what's best for you. Think it over. You have three weeks. I can't say what I would do. Not that I'm in love with my boobs (which are big and floppy), so I'd be OK getting rid of the cancerous things if that was the case, but I'd go for the most minimally invasive thing I could do. But then, who knows? I might opt for something entirely different in the moment. Only you know.
We're here for you, always.
Good Morning Vickie and OFF,
I overslept this morning. I forgot to program my thermostat, now the the temps are dropping. I had the temps too low to want to crawl out from under the covers.
Enjoy your day with your Mom, Vickie. It'd be nice if you had her closer. My Mom is two hours from my sister. She moved back to her hometown years ago. Sis lives in the house we grew up in.
Today, I have cleaning to do, then work on my Bible study. This afternoon, I get the kids for an hour. Plus, I'm making a macaroni and cheese casserole to take to Colleen's for dinner.
Must scoot.
Hugs,
Trish
